Pro Riders Go Electric With Alta Motors’ Redshift Platform

Courtesy of Alta Motors

BRISBANE, Calif.December 19, 2017 – Alta Motors, the leader in global lightweight electric vehicles, made two-wheel history with Josh Hill on its Redshift MX electric motorcycle and announced today that the company has secured Ty Tremaine to ride Alta’s Redshift EX. On the heels of a banner sales year and notable national expansion, Alta is gearing up for a big year of racing and supporting its professional riders in 2018. Unlike Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsports, which has a designated electric-only race series, known as Formula E, Alta Motors, Josh Hill, and Ty Tremaine are proving that electrics can compete with gas-powered vehicles in the same race and still win.
At the Geneva Supercross, a world-renowned industry competition with one of the largest tracks in Europe, Josh Hill proved an all-electric bike could not only compete, but also win. In spite of a shipping hiccup, Josh was still able to locate a stock year-old Redshift MX in Europe from another Alta customer, swap in his own suspension, and race in an exhibition match against motocross-legend Ricky Carmichael, also known as the G.O.A.T—the Greatest Of All Time. Coming from behind with a borrowed bike, Josh swept both dual matches on Sunday, edging out Carmichael 3-2 overall. This event represents the first time an electric motorcycle has ever competed, let alone won, on a supercross track. It was also Alta’s first appearance in Europe, ushering in the future of fast in electric racing.
“After seeing pros like Josh Hill and Kurt Nicoll race Alta’s bikes, I was intrigued but skeptical,” said Ty Tremaine. “It wasn’t until testing the bike that I became truly impressed with how well it handled and the potential for racing. Like many riders, I want to win, so the decision to sign with Alta was easy. Looking ahead to 2018, I’m excited to put the Redshift EX to the test.”
Alta Motors secured Ty Tremaine, one of the top three professional riders in the Endurocross field. Raised in South Lake Tahoe, Ty grew up riding in high-speed desert races and went on to claim two X Games Finals, in addition to being named the FIM Junior SuperEnduro World Champion in 2015 at the young age of 18. In a first for Tremaine, he will compete riding Alta’s Redshift EX in the 2018 Endurocross series, the Kenda AMA Tennessee Knockout and a number of sprint enduro events across North America. Tremaine’s early success signals how he will be a force to be reckoned with on the track this coming year, as he races the Redshift.
“We designed, manufactured and raced a bike we thought could challenge the best incumbents, and are so grateful to have Josh Hill as an early adopter make electric bike history and prove us right,” said Alta Motors CEO, Marc Fenigstein. “We’re also very excited to share the Redshift platform with Ty Tremaine to see what we can do together in 2018, competing for the Endurocross championship.”
About Alta Motors
Alta Motors is a global leader in lightweight electric vehicles with a proprietary mobility platform that offers new levels of power density and economics. It leads the industry with a complete portfolio of battery and drivetrain components, an existing fleet of lightweight vehicles manufactured at its world-class Brisbane facility and a full customer backlog. Alta’s award-winning Redshift platform is now available to riders at 41 U.S. dealerships across 18 states. Please visit us at: www.altamotors.co

FOX Sports with Feld Entertainment Debut 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Broadcast Schedule

Courtesy of Fox Sports

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – FOX Sports and Feld Entertainment, Inc. announced today the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, television schedule, beginning with the season-opener event from Anaheim on Saturday, Jan. 6 (10:00 PM ET) live on FS1.

As the most competitive and highest-profile off-road motorcycle racing championship in the world, the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross season follows the most-watched season ever on FS1, averaging 343,000 viewers according to Nielsen Media Research. The 2017 Indianapolis event on FOX broadcast tallied 813,000 viewers, the most ever on FOX, FS1 or SPEED.

The broadcast team of Ralph Sheheen (play-by-play), Hall-of-Fame racers Jeff Emig and Ricky Carmichael (analysts) and Jenny Taft (reporter) returns to call the 17-race season, including two events – Foxborough and Salt Lake City – live on the FOX broadcast network.
With a broadcast presence that spans international audiences and global partners re-broadcasting each race in more than 200 countries, Supercross ratings continue to increase at a time when some traditional sports ratings are on the decline. Viewership of the live airing of the 2017 Monster Energy Cup, a post-season all-star race with a million-dollar payout, on FS2 was up 21 percent over last year, and the network also saw the largest audience ever for the re-airing on FOX, up 87 percent. In total, the single race had over 1.5 million viewers tuning in for the high-speed action.

The race to the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross championship is wide open for the first time in recent history. The world’s most elite endurance athletes will compete on custom-designed tracks constructed by master track builders, providing unparalleled action and competition.

“We have three riders that come into the year as championship favorites,” said Ralph Sheheen. “Eli Tomac has to feel like last year’s title slipped away after a disastrous round in MetLife Stadium. I’m sure he would love to quiet those who doubt him by winning the 2018 title. Marvin Musquin takes over for Ryan Dungey as the number one rider for Red Bull KTM. The French rider has been working hard to develop a complete program and it shows. He was on pace all last season and capped it off with a dominating performance at the Monster Energy Cup. If he carries that speed into the new season, he will be tough to beat on what is already a championship-caliber team. Finally, you have Ken Roczen. He was so fast at the beginning of 2017 before his devastating crash at the second Anaheim event. We know he is fast and we know he has the endurance. If the rehab from his horrific injuries goes as planned, not only can he win this title, but it would be one of the all-time greatest comeback stories in sports.”

Monster Energy Supercross races will also appear in Canada and the Caribbean through FOX Sports Racing, as well as be available through FOX Sports GO, the critically acclaimed app that provides live streaming video of FOX Sports content at home or on-the-go and now is available to 94 million subscribers.

International fans can watch the Monster Energy Supercross season unfold live by subscribing to the Supercross Video Pass, available to fans outside of the U.S. and Canada via the mobile-responsive portal at SupercrossLIVE.tv and via the Monster Energy Supercross Roku app.

2018 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series Schedule Announced

2018 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series Schedule Announced Three Brand-New Stops Added to the Program
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (December 14, 2017) - Racer Productions, producer of the AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series, an AMA National Championship, is pleased to announce the 2018 series schedule. The 13-round GNCC series takes place in nine different states through the eastern half of the United States, making stops at many of the series' traditional favorites, while adding three all-new venues to the schedule.
The GNCC series will kick off with the Big Buck GNCC on February 24 and 25 in Union, South Carolina, then continue to the Wild Boar GNCC in Palatka, Florida, held in conjunction with the 2018 Daytona Beach "Bike Week" festivities on March 10 and 11. The Big Buck and Wild Boar GNCCs will also play hosts to the opening rounds of the six-race UTV championship.
After Florida, the series continues to its first new venue of the season in Georgia. This new location in the Peach State will be announced in the coming week and promises to incorporate the same grueling obstacles that GNCC racers are used to, while adding a new batch of terrain they have yet to experience.
"We've taken the time to develop a one-of-a-kind GNCC schedule, and it's already shaping up to be a great season," explained GNCC Trail Boss, Jeff Russell. "The three new venues all have something different to offer and should be an instant hit with the GNCC Racing Nation."
After summer break, the series will grace another new facility in Harpursville, New York for the Black Sky GNCC. The Johnson Family Farm is no stranger to woods racing where they have hosted a few local off-road events, but still offers plenty of virgin woods for the GNCC track crew to develop a unique and brand-new course.
The Mason-Dixon GNCC will be the following round on the weekend of September 29 and 30 in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania - another hotbed for off-road racing. Located adjacent to High Point Raceway, the racetrack will travel across the Mason-Dixon line with sections in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
"It's been over 15 years since we've been at the High Point Raceway property" continued GNCC Trail Boss Jeff Russell. "By being able to host and start the race on the Mathews Farm, we are excited to layout a brand new track that will cross over to one of America's most iconic motocross tracks, as well as travel between Pennsylvania and Racer Productions' home-state of West Virginia."
The schedule welcomes back many of its most seasoned venues for 2018, including Steele Creek in Morganton, North Carolina; Camp Coker Bullet in Society Hill, South Carolina; X-Factor in Peru, Indiana; The John Penton in Millfield, Ohio; Tomahawk in Odessa, New York; West Virginia's popular Snowshoe GNCC; St. Clairsville, Ohio's Powerline Park; and the Ironman in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Following the season opener in South Carolina, the UTV championship will head to Florida for the Wild Boar GNCC before travelling to Moree's Sportsman's Preserve for the Camp Coker Bullet GNCC, then Ohio's John Penton GNCC and back to Ohio for the penultimate UTV round at Powerline Park. The Side-by-Side championship will conclude with the Ironman GNCC season finale in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
The six-race ATV and Bike Micro 50cc championship will begin at the new round in Georgia, before heading to North Carolina for their second round at Steele Creek, then to Indiana for the X-Factor GNCC, on to New York for the Tomahawk and Black Sky GNCCs, then concluding in Pennsylvania at the Mason-Dixon GNCC.
