N-Fab/TiLUBE/Yamaha Race Report

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (June 24, 2013) – Round five of the Pro Motocross Championship went off this past weekend in Budds Creek, Md. with the Red Bull Budds Creek National. Once again Mother Nature was smiling on the Budds Creek facility and a picture perfect day welcomed the N-Fab/TiLUBE/Yamaha riders.
Phil Nicoletti and Chris Blose both qualified easily into the motos via the 13th and 27th positions.
Moto 1 saw both Nicoletti and Blose getting off to good starts, rounding the first turn, both riders were inside of the top 20. While battling for position on first lap disaster struck, Nicoletti and Blose would go down hard. Fortunately, they both would be able to remount and begin a charge back to the front. Riding well and fighting hard for positions, Nicoletti moved up to 18th with Blose in 27th at the halfway mark. Nicoletti was continuing to make his way up through the pack in search of valuable points finishing Moto 1 in 15th. Unfortunately, Blose suffered from a mechanical because of his earlier crash but successfully finished the moto in 32nd.
Moto 2 got off to a much better start for Nicoletti as he rounded turn one in eighth. Blose would once again struggle with lap on issues and go down while fighting for positions. Again he would remount and begin a charge to the front. As the crossed flags few, marking the half way point of the race, Nicoletti was riding fantastic in sixth and Blose was looking good in 29th. When the checkered flag flew, Nicoletti would cross the line in sixth, while Blose would pick up a few more positions finishing in 23rd. Their second Moto scores secured a seasons best ninth (Nicoletti) and 30th (Blose) overall finish for the N-Fab/TiLUBE/Yamaha riders.
“I felt really good in qualifying today,” said Nicoletti. “Moto 1 started out well but I made a mistake and went down. For sure I was not going to give up so I just rode as hard as I could to salvage as many points as possible. Moto 2 I really wanted to get back what I gave up in Moto 1. I am pumped to get sixth and know I have the speed to be there every weekend. I can’t wait till next weekend.”
“I am really not sure why I keep having problems on early on in the moto,” said Blose. “My plan was to get through the first few laps without incident and just make my passes so I am inside the top 20. My speed is good but and I will keep working as hard as I can during the week.”
The Pro Motocross Championship travels to Southwick Ma. for the Moto X 338 National on Saturday, June 29th. Be sure to stop by the N-Fab/TiLUBE/Yamaha truck to show your support and to have your picture taken with Chris Blose and Phil Nicoletti from 9:00 – 12:30 p.m. See you there!

The Australian born Metcalfe lives in the United States and has a long history racing in the AMA. Historically, he’s done very well at Southwick, including an overall victory in 2011, and when he expressed interest in racing this year it made sense for ADR Motorsports to step-up since the team maintains Metcalfe’s practice bikes.

After four of nine events Metcalfe holds a comfortable lead with 191 points, 44 ahead of second place. He has two sweeps on the season. The Monster Energy Motocross CMRC Nationals break until July 14th.
Metcalfe’s Kawasaki’s were built in the ADR shop in California which are now on their way to Massachusetts. The ADR Motorsports team which was in Alabama for an AMA Superbike event is on its way to Southwick. There are a number of sponsors on both sides of the border that conflict with Metcalfe’s personal sponsors as well as ADR Motorsports team sponsors but everyone is working together to make this happen, said David Anthony, ADR Motorsports team manager.
“As you can see it’s a big effort to make everything come together for this one event,” said Anthony. “We were more than happy to help in whatever way we could.”
Metcalfe’s personal sponsors are Metty24,  Kawasaki, Leading Edge Kawasaki Racing, Monster Energy, ADR Motorsports/Motosport.com, Thor/Parts Unlimited, FMF, Dunlop, Dubya, Cycra, Xtrig, Hinson, Mika Metals, DT1, C4MX, Graeme Brough, Works Connection, TM Designworks, Magik SC Customs, M2R helmet, 100%, Schaefer tracks, GT Bicycles, and Donjoy.

Chaplin Kawasaki Announced as Title Sponsor of Final Southwick National

Courtesy of MX Sports

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (June 17, 2013) – It was announced today that Moto-X 338, host of the sixth round of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, has signed Chaplin Kawasaki to serve as title sponsor of the 35th annual Moto-X 338 National scheduled for Saturday, June 29th, in Southwick. Additionally, Crotty & Sons Body Works will serve as the event’s presenting sponsor.
Southwick has hosted a round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship since 1976, making it the fourth-longest running event in American Motocross. Just a few weeks ago, it was announced that this season’s race at Moto-X 338 would be the final one at the iconic facility. As the only sand track in the championship, Southwick has established an unmatched legacy in the sport of motocross and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest track in the history of the sport. The Moto-X 338 National has not been hosted in the month of June since the 2007 season.
“We are very excited to welcome the support of Chaplin Kawasaki for our final event at Southwick,” said track president Diane Peebles Pittello. “They have always made their presence felt at our events and its only fitting that they receive top billing as we close out three decades of racing at Moto-X 338.”
Kenny Ives Jr., owner of the Connecticut-based Chaplin Kawasaki dealership, has spent his entire life around motorcycles thanks to his father, Kenny Ives Sr. Ives Jr. began racing motorcycles competitively in 1979 and after a stellar career that included many championships and race wins in several disciplines, he retired from racing in the late 1980’s. Since opening Chaplin Kawasaki, Ives Jr. has become one of the top-selling Kawasaki dealers in New England and has gained even more notoriety thanks to his sponsorship of local legend and record-setting pro motocross racer John Dowd.
“Since this will be the final year of the Moto-X 338 National, I figured the best way for me to show how much that track and this sport means to me is to give the event all the support I can,” said Ives Jr. “When you think of motocross in New England you think of Southwick and we want to do everything we can to make sure this year’s event is bigger than its ever been in over 30 years.”
Crotty & Sons Body Works, located in Charlestown, R.I., is one of the premier auto body shops on the Rhode Island coast.
The Chaplin Kawasaki Moto-X 338 National, presented by Crotty & Sons Body works, will be an action-packed day of racing at one of the most legendary and challenging tracks in the world, showcasing the fastest riders on the planet. Moto-X 338’s ever-changing sand racing surface forces competitors to constantly be in search of new lines, resulting in some of the most captivating action of the championship.
Racing for the 2013 Chaplin Kawasaki Moto-X 338 National begins at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, June 29th, with competition in both the 250 Class and 450 Class, in addition to the third and final round of the Women’s Motocross Triple Crown.

Munn Racing High Point Report

Courtesy of Munn Racing

Elm Mott, Texas:  This weekend the Munn Racing KTM headed to High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania for the fourth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series.
Although Mother Nature tried to saturate the track with heavy amounts of rain throughout the week the track workers did a great job and got the track in good condition for Saturday’s race.  The practices were muddy but the Munn Racing team and mechanics were able to keep the riders in a positive light coming into Saturday’s motos.  Vince Friese made his way through the muddy practice and was able to qualify 16th in practice in the 450 premier class.  Friese fought hard in both 450 motos and was able to score a 15th place finish overall on the day.

In the 250 class, Lance Vincent, Todd Krieg, Ozzy Barbaree, and Alex Nagy showed up ready to give it their best in the ever competitive  small bike class.  Todd Krieg and Lance Vincent fought their way through the mud and put their Munn Racing KTM powered by EBR Performance machines in the main motos.

In the WMX class Sara Petterson rode strong all day long.  Sara has been working very hard between rounds to prepare for the second round of the WMX Triple Crown Series.  Sara qualified fourth in timed qualifying.  Both motos Sara put on an exciting race against the fastest WMX riders in the world and she was able to come home with a fourth overall.  Sara will be heading to Blue Diamond Raceway with the Munn Racing KTM semi to race this weekend.  We would like to extend a thank you to Blue Diamond Raceway for the invitation and giving our rig a home for the off weekend.  Look for Sara at the final round of the WMX Triple Crown Series at Southwick.   Follow the team all season long on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for all of the behind the scenes action.

MX Rewind comes to Unadilla

Courtesy of Unadilla MX

New Berlin, NY)- Returning for just the second time, MX Rewind at Unadilla MX in New Berlin, NY kicks off this weekend, June 14-16, 2013 for three days of off road fun. And most importantly, if you have not yet committed to attend, there is still time to make last minute plans.
All the popular historical classes, events and features of the inaugural MX Rewind are returning -including AHRMA vintage and post vintage cross-country and motocross racing, a long list of Unadilla legends, a bigger and better swap meet, a very cool bike show, as well as meet and greets, bench racing, and plenty of nightly entertainment.
Bikes as new as 1997 are eligible to race on the famed Unadilla Pro Track. Check the rules on our website for more details - but the cutoff date for racing is 1997, so all motorcycles built and sold as of the 1997 model year (and prior) are potentially eligible for competition. You don't have to have a pristine vintage bike to become part of the racing action. There are a lot of older bikes out there for sale that will allow you to become part of the racing action as well!
Over fifteen former racing greats will be making their way to Unadilla and will be at MX Rewind starting on Friday afternoon. Recent additions to the legends roster include Barry Higgins, and Jack and John Penton, who will both be involved in the cross-country awards ceremony at the end of Friday's racing.
And for those who just want to step back in time and remember the Good 'Ole Days, a full weekend of on and off the track activities await. Spectator camping is available or racers and fans can choose from a number of chain hotels in the area.
For more information about MX Rewind 2013 on June 14-16, visit www.mxrewind.com or call 607/965-8450.

Bel-Ray Racers Sipes and Anderson Score Top 10 Overalls at Mt Morris
Teammate Wharton inside the Top 15

FARMINGDALE, N.J. (June 10, 2013) ―Round 4 of the 2013 National Motocross series came to Mt Morris, Pennsylvania for this weekend’s Geico High Point National. This weekend marked the 37th annual National Motocross event at the picturesque High Point facility.  Beautiful weather and a strong crowd greeted the Bel-Ray racers in attendance for both the 250MX and 450MX championship classes. Rockstar Energy Racing’s Jason Anderson and Ryan Sipes led the charge with top 10 overalls in their respective classes.

Since moving up to the 450 class for the outdoors, Bel-Ray backed Ryan Sipes has scored 5 top 10 moto finishes and two top ten overall. He rebound from a difficult event in Tennessee to earn 6-6 moto scores and a 7th place overall finish. Sipes is currently 8th place in the series standings.

“I felt like it was a solid weekend," said Sipes following the event. "I’m proud of my finishes. I felt like I got decent starts, at least close to the top ten and just worked my way up. I would have liked to have gotten 5th in the first moto but I had a little tip over. I’m happy to rebound and get a decent finish because I had a bad two weeks In Colorado and Tennessee.”

Also in 450MX class racing, Bel-Ray privateers Derek Anderson and Ronnie Stewart scored respectable finishes at Mt Morris.  Anderson’s 24-21 moto finishes netted him a 25th overall while Stewart’s 38-32 finishes were good enough for 37th overall. Both racers will use the one week break in the series to regroup for Budd’s Creek in Maryland on June 22nd.

In 250MX racing action, Bel-Ray supported Rockstar Energy Racing’s Jason Anderson continues to show he is one of the top racers in the class. His 12-7 moto finishes were good enough for 10th overall. Teammate Blake Wharton has been making improvements each weekend. His first moto 35th place finish was an unfortunate glitch that he improved upon in moto 2 with a 12th place finish for a 15th place overall finish. Anderson is currently 6th in the standings while Wharton is 14th in the standings.

Anderson spoke about the weekend following the second moto. "High Point was alright. I was battling up near the front basically the whole time. I just gotta figure things out, head into the break, enjoy it a little and go to Budds Creek and see how it goes.”
Wharton was disappointed with his weekend and spoke about it, “ I didn’t have a great weekend to say the least. I struggled a little bit with my starts but I was close. I just couldn’t get around that turn one or two spots better. It was like you just missed a good start because of those spots. I just rode average really. This next weekend is off then we’re heading into Budds Creek. Just gonna keep riding and trying to improve."

Other Bel-Ray racers in the 250MX class were New Jersey privateer Dakota Kessler and Pennsylvania privateer Steve Roman. Kessler’s 28-26 motos were good for 29th overall while Roman’s 39-31 finishes earned him a 38th overall.

Bel-Ray Works Thumper Racing Full Synthetic Ester 4T Engine Oil is one of the products chosen by the teams to keep their machines performing their best.

Bel-Ray Works Thumper Racing Full Synthetic Ester 4T Engine Oil is a 4-stroke synthetic motorcycle racing oil that has been developed for full works competition use and is designed to withstand extreme racing conditions. Bel-Ray Racers Anderson and Wharton Score Top 10 Overalls at Muddy Creek

Courtesy of Bel-Ray

Bel-Ray Racers Anderson and Wharton Score Top 10 Overalls at Muddy Creek
FARMINGDALE, N.J. (June 3, 2013) ― Beautiful weather and a record-setting crowd greeted the Bel-Ray racers at the third round of the 2013 AMA Pro Motocross Championship series held in Blountville, Tennessee, on Saturday afternoon. The event marked the first time in 15 years a national outdoor series event has been held in the Southeast. Bel-Ray racers scored mixed results, with two racers finishing in the top 10 in their respective classes.

In 450MX racing action, Rockstar Energy Racing’s Ryan Sipes put his Bel-Ray-powered machine inside the top 10 in the first moto but struggled with crashes in moto number 2. He was collected in a first-turn crash and struggled to find his groove in the moto. He would go down several more times but was still able to manage a 21st-place finish in the moto and 15th overall.
Also in 450MX-class racing, Bel-Ray privateers Derek Anderson and Ronnie Stewart struggled with the track and competition. Anderson’s 21st-place first moto was backed up with a 37th-place second moto after stitches from a cut Anderson suffered at the Lakewood, Colorado round reopened and he was forced to retire. Stewart, finally back east and close to his home after traveling the Supercross series on the West Coast for the last several months, had consistent 27-32 moto scores that netted him 31st overall—a position that is sure to improve as the series progresses.
In 250MX racing action, Bel-Ray-supported Rockstar Energy Racing teammates Jason Anderson and Blake Wharton earned top-10 overall finishes with Anderson’s 7-7 motos, which were good enough for sixth, while Wharton’s 11-9 finishes earned him a ninth-place finish overall. “The weekend was all right,” said Anderson. “I ended up 7-7 on the day, which isn’t bad. I struggled a little bit again with some situations. All in all, it’s a step in the right direction. I got sixth overall, so I matched my second-best finish ever outdoors.” Wharton was also content with his afternoon’s results as he spoke about them following the second moto. “[In] my first moto, I got 11th; second moto, I got ninth. It was a decent weekend for me, just putting in more time. I just have to keep pushing and not rest, no matter what. I’m looking forward to finishing farther toward the front. High Point will be similar to this, I feel. I’m looking forward to next weekend.”
The third racer in the 250MX class for Rockstar Energy Racing is Nico Izzi. He was forced to sit out the entire Supercross series due to injury but has been making strides each week toward his return. He was running inside the top 10 during the first moto, when just four laps from the end his bike began to lose power. A damaged radiator was the culprit and despite losing all of the coolant, the Bel-Ray-protected motor continued to run until just one lap from the end when the motor finally failed, causing Izzi to crash. He was too beat up to make the second moto but will race this weekend in Pennsylvania. “We came into the first moto and I didn’t have the best start, probably around 12th,” said Izzi after the motos. “I made a couple passes and was battling with [Cole] Seely for ninth. Then, with four laps t o go, my bike was losing a lot of power and I rode it until it died and I went over the bars. I’m going to be back to lay the hammer down at High Point. I love that place.”
Another rider making his return from injury was Bel-Ray privateer Dakota Kessler. The New Jersey native was injured at the Dallas Supercross in February and came to Tennessee looking to score points in his return. His 35-32 motos were out of the points-paying positions, but look for the #449 Honda to score some good results as the series continues.
