Southern Maryland Dirt Riders Announce the Winners of the SMDR Privateer Award in Memory of Kevin Crine

On Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Budds Creek National the Southern Maryland Dirt Riders club (SMDR) was proud to announce the winners of the ninth annual SMDR Privateer Award.  The winner in the 250 class was #244, Ryan Zimmer.  Ryan finished 23rd overall at Budds Creek with a 22nd place finish in the first moto and 20th in the second moto. He is currently in 28th place in the series with five points. The winner in the 450 class was #224, Heath Harrison. Heath finished 27th overall at Budds Creek with a 21st place finish in moto one and 28th in the second moto.
For the seventh consecutive year, the award was granted in the memory of Kevin Crine. SMDR president, Lenny Holland, along with Kevin’s father, John, wife, Stacy and son, Brett, presented each rider with a plaque and $2,000 on the podium during opening ceremonies. The money is donated by SMDR club members during club rides and meetings throughout the year. This year’s award brings the total amount donated by SMDR to privateers in excess of $24,000. We hope that our award has better enabled the winners to achieve their goals, in whatever way possible, and has garnered awareness and support for privateers in general. We wish Ryan, Heath, and all the privateers much success for the rest of the 2013 season and in the future. We will be cheering for all of you; so, good luck—ride fast and ride safe!
