Road 2 Recovery Partners with Carlsbad Raceway

Courtesy of Road 2 Recovery

Carlsbad, CA - A project almost five years in the making is about to come to reality with the Road 2 Recovery (R2R) Foundation joining a group of passionate Carlsbad Raceway fans and legendary athletes to build a permanent, interpretive monument overlooking the site of the famed Carlsbad Raceway. R2R will administer all the private and corporate donations to the project along with the necessary 501(c)(3) charitable donation paperwork to those donors. The foundation will retain a small fee for this work and share in any remaining donations once the monument is constructed and installed. The goal is to unveil the monument on Sunday morning after one of the two San Diego Monster Energy Supercross events in 2016.

"Our foundation is always looking for new and innovative ways to promote our mission and raise funds for injured motocross/supercross and action sports athletes. This was a natural for us," said Anita Button, operations director at Road 2 Recovery. "We will be able to help provide a unique, historical experience for the motorcycle and action sports community while raising additional awareness for our cause."

The monument project was conceived almost five years ago after the release of the film The Carlsbad USGP:1980 by Pipeline Digital Media. Filmmaker Todd Huffman, David Moates (brother of the Carlsbad USGP's first American winner in 1980, Marty Moates), and Scott Cox of Resmarket got together to discuss initial plans for the monument with the City of Carlsbad who embraced the project. Now is the time to get it completed.

"Wow! Having the Road 2 Recovery Foundation join in with us is really special," said Todd Huffman, director and producer at Pipeline Digital Media (PDM). "It will really give this project a shot in the arm to get completed in 2016."

"As a Carlsbad local, having a monument like this to share racing and other memories from the raceway with my family and friends is pretty damn cool," said David Moates. "My brother Marty would be stoked that it is happening."

The goal is to raise an estimated $50,000 for design and construction of the monument to be completed by Feb of 2016. A professional environmental design firm will be engaged to design the monument and highlight all of the raceway's features like the drag strip, motocross track, skateboard park and road course. A short term need of approximately $15,000 is needed to present initial conceptual drawings to the City of Carlsbad by August 3, 2015.

STEWART RE-SIGNS WITH YOSHIMURA SUZUKI FACTORY RACING

Courtesy of Suzuki Racing

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing has reached a multi-year agreement with James Stewart to contest both AMA/ FIM Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross Championships.

Stewart will compete aboard a Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing RM-Z450 beginning with the Redbull Straight Rhythm in Pomona, California on October 11th, the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas on October 17th and then in the AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships beginning in 2016.

Stewart boasts a Hall of Fame worthy credentials – a multi-time AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion as well as AMA Athlete of the Year award winner; in 2014 he became the first rider in 450 Supercross history to win at least one Supercross Main Event in 10 consecutive seasons.

He extends his time with a manufacturer in Suzuki and a team in Yoshimura with rich traditions of winning championships. Teamed with up-and-coming rider Blake Baggett, Yoshimura Suzuki looks to have one of the most impressive rider line-ups in AMA Supercross and Motocross.

“I’m happy to finish out my career with Suzuki,” Stewart said. “The team has been very supportive and I can’t wait to get back on that bike and be around my guys each weekend. I’m really looking forward to coming back to racing. Since I was forced to step away for a time it’s made me realise how much I miss it and how much I want to be there. I still have that competitive spirit and want to get back and give my all in the final years of my career. I also thank all the fans and sponsors who’ve stuck by me. I’m ready to race. I can’t wait to see that first gate drop.”

Stewart will once again be racing Suzuki’s powerful and agile-handling RM-Z450 and Yoshimura’s Supercross/ Motocross Team Manager Mike Webb is looking forward to having him back on the machine.

“We’re very happy to put this agreement together with James,” Webb said. “Even when he wasn’t racing this past year, he’s been very supportive to the team and Suzuki and has been instrumental in helping develop the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450. With James joining Blake we’re looking forward to having a full stable of strong riders for 2016.”

The LitPro

Courtesy of  LitPro

Temecula, CA (June 16, 2015) - Today NZN Labs introduces LITProTM, the gold standard for training and performance analytics in motocross.

LITPro is the world’s best training tool for motocross athletes and their respective teams. By employing proprietary HD-GPSTM technology and fusing it with various other sensors and technologies, LITPro provides the most advanced and comprehensive view of every moment spent on the track. Benefit from LITPro’s insights to achieve faster laps, better starts, and a more effective overall training program.

“If you analyze race results at any level, the difference between first and fourth place is a few percentage points – only 0.965 seconds per lap for this year’s Supercross season. That is an incredibly narrow margin separating the champion from the forgotten. Everything we do with LITPro aims to show a rider how to achieve at least one second of improvement per lap.” said Michael Ford, President and Co-Founder of NZN Labs. “We have had the great fortune of working with some of the best athletes, trainers, and factory race teams in the sport to validate and improve LITPro. We are excited to deliver these factory level capabilities to the broader motocross community. ”

“My biggest goal is elevating the track experience where we can not so much have quantity of riding, but quality riding.” said Aldon Baker, professional trainer. “In order to have quality riding, we need to be able to isolate where the problem areas are on the track. And with LITPro, we can condense and really isolate the issues and opportunities, so when they get back out there it is a way better, more productive, training. This is what I’ve been looking for for many years.”

LITPro’s key features include:
– Lap and Segment Analytics to see where you are fast or slow, consistent or inconsistent. LITPro lap and segments times, calculated automatically within the LITPro MX App, are within 1/20 of a second of accuracy when compared to official AMA results.
– Lap 99TM and Ghosting to view and visualize your improvement potential through better line selection and rhythms.
– Gate Drop Analytics for better starts.
– Airtime Analytics for more effective jumps.
– Body Analytics to monitor training load and improvements over time.

LITPro’s embedded and patent pending technologies include:
– HD-GPSTM – 20x the resolution and better precision than traditional GPS solutions.
– HD-Track Maps* – Your favorite track has never looked so good. *Available for a growing number of tracks in the U.S.
– Proven Action Sports Algorithms – Trusted by many of the best action sports athletes and brands in the world.
– Personalized Track Configurations – Establish laps and segments exactly where you want
them for any outdoor track anywhere in the world.
– Dual Wireless Bluetooth – Connect your heart rate strap and eventually other accessories to benefit from an even more thorough LITPro experience.
– Magnetic Charging – Effortless charging that enables a robust mechanical design.

360fly Signs Chad Reed

Courtesy of 360fly

PITTSBURGH 360fly, Inc., the category creator in 360-degree digital video products, announced professional motocross rider Chad Reed as its newest brand ambassador. The relationship provides Reed with exclusive early access to 360-degree filming capabilities, while providing 360fly with compelling content from one of the world’s most decorated and respected motocross athletes. Reed joins a growing 360fly athlete roster that includes Flatland BMX rider Terry Adams, Freestyle Skier Simon Dumont and Surfer Carissa Moore.

Reed, a global motocross star and champion in both Monster Energy Supercross and the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, has been competing since mountable cameras first entered the sport. After years of utilizing the incumbent industry-leading products, Reed was instantly blown away with 360fly’s interactive 360-degree video and game-changing mobile capabilities.

“Before 360fly, there were only single point-of-view cameras available. And after years of using a variety of models, I’ve found they just can’t compare to 360fly’s all-seeing single lens.” said Reed. “360fly opens the door to a whole new world of possibilities. The innovative quality of its interactive 360-degree video goes without saying. But what may be even more powerful is the fact that editing and sharing is completely mobile. You don’t have to get to a computer to download, edit and share the footage. That for me is a total game changer.”

In 2003, the Australian rider took supercross on by storm by winning his 450 debut against the greatest of all time, Ricky Carmichael. He’s captured AMA Supercross championships in 2004 and 2008, while also earning the AMA Motocross title in 2009.

“It goes without saying that Chad is an unbelievable athlete, but he also brings a high level of vision and savvy when it comes to action cameras,” said Peter Adderton, CEO of 360fly. “Beyond the world-class rider is a true family man. Chad’s family-oriented lifestyle aligns with our brand as a general lifestyle camera allowing anyone and everyone to capture life’s greatest moments in 360 degrees. We couldn’t be more excited to see what he captures with the camera.”

In addition to his on-going efforts to develop content, Reed will actively promote 360fly in a variety of ways including public appearances, media interviews, social media activity, and showcasing the brand logo in competition.
