RiderDown Foundation at Loretta Lynn’s – The Passion Tour Rolls On!

RiderDown is pleased to announce that once again you will have a chance to help your fellow riders when they need it most and also have a chance to get something back in return. Stop by the RDF booth and get your raffle tickets, place your bids, row a few meters or simply make a donation to the cause. Several years ago RacerX and RiderDown teamed up to bring you the Passion Tour and Loretta’s is one of the premiere stops on the schedule.

This year we’ll be raffling off a custom Loretta Lynn’s ’09 edition helmet, designed and painted by HotHedzDesigns, a pair of Asterisk children’s Germ knee braces, a Leatt Sport neck brace, an RXR chest protector and more! All proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the RiderDown Foundation in support of its efforts to assist injured riders and their families. Raffle tickets are only $2 and will be available throughout the week. The drawing will be held Thursday. Stop by the RDF booth for more details!

Want to get in better shape? Check this out – Concept2 Indoor Rowers has donated a brand new Model D rower to RiderDown and we will be holding a silent auction for this machine to raise money for our injured riders in need. Bids will be taken at the RDF booth or you can bid via email to info@riderdown.org (make sure to mention the rower in the subject line). Here’s a link for more info on the rower itself: Concept2 Model D Rower. It is the same rower used by Milsaps Training Facility, KTM Muscle Milk, MotoSport Kawi, Kurt Caselli, Heath Voss, Destry Abbott, Travis Pastrana, RacerX staff and more!

And if you’re feeling it, for the 3rd year in a row the guys at Concept2 and RacerX Virtual Trainer will be giving away rowers to the winners of the 500M challenge! There will be a men’s and a women’s division and the competition will be tough! Last year the head to head row off in the ladies class was tight!

Also, keep an eye out for our friend David Bulmer, that crazy media guy from across the pond. He’s been travelling to all of the Outdoor Nationals with some of the crew from VurbMoto and running a lap at each track to raise money for charity. RiderDown Foundation and Wings for Life are fortunate to have his generous support! Give him a cheer!

"We're pleased to be able to help support the RiderDown Foundation at the Loretta Lynn Amateur Nationals," said Event Director Tim Cotter. "RiderDown's diligent work has helped many racers and their families recover from injuries and the associated medical costs.”

“We are extremely thankful for all the support that the great folks at MX Sports provides to RDF and the injured riders we help,” says Bruce Vermeulen, President of the RiderDown Foundation. “We are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity and willingness to help. We’ll be at Loretta’s all week, so if you are in Tennessee stop by and find out how you can get involved!”

Bel-Ray to Title Sponsor
Darryl Atkins at X Games 15

July 30, 2009 – Farmingdale, NJ – Bel-Ray is
proud to announce that 7-time New Zealand MX and SX
Champion, Darryl Atkins, will be competing at X Games
on a Bel-Ray sponsored Honda CRF 450, Saturday,
August 1, 2009, live on ABC from 3–6 pm EST.
Atkins will be one of 20 riders invited to race for gold at
X Games 15 as he goes head-to-head with some of the
best SuperMoto riders in the world like James Stewart,
Jeff Ward, Brandon Currie and Micky Dymond. He has
been absent from the SuperMoto scene for the last six
months as he announced his retirement at the beginning
of the 2009 season. At X Games 15, Atkins returns to show the world he still has the speed and determination
to stand atop the podium with the help of Bel-Ray lubricants. His pit area will provide the opportunity for fans
to get a signed autographed poster from Darryl himself and talk about the Bel-Ray products he is using.
“I’m excited to have Bel-Ray as my title sponsor for X Games,” says Atkins. “This is giving me a great
opportunity to build a one-of-a-kind X Games specific bike. After dominating the AMA SuperMoto Unlimited
Series, and winning my last National, I feel very confident going into X Games 15. I’m right where I want to be
jumping back into pro racing where I left off, and look forward to the festivities!”
Bel-Ray’s Channel Marketing Manager, Carter Olcott, adds, “When Darryl approached us to title sponsor his

that left him with detached nerves in his neck, Atkins surprised his doctors by returning to racing capturing
multiple national MX, SX and SuperMoto Championships in New Zealand and the United States. More

them.

Joe Gibb's Racing's Josh Grant will also be competing in the Moto X Super X event on a YZ450F and already has a custom built YZ250 all prepped and ready to go for Moto X Best Whip.

Graves' Yamaha rider and two-time AMA Supermoto Lites Champion Brandon Currie will be looking to put his YZ450F on the box and earn his first X Games medal on Saturday afternoon in the Moto X SuperMoto final.

In Moto X Freestyle multi-time X Games Gold medalist Nate Adams and his YZ250 are coming into X Games 15 100% healthy and back in gold medal form after a very successful pre-season. Red Bull Experiment pioneer and all around incredible athlete Robbie Maddison will also be going for the gold in Moto X Freestyle on a YZ250.

Last year's Moto X Super X Women winner Tarah Gieger has been laying low, healing up and getting prepared to repeat last year's performance in this years Moto X Super X Women's Final.

"X Games is without a doubt one of the biggest events we do all year and with the caliber of talent we have competing this year, we're definitely looking forward to taking home some gold", said Keith McCarty, Yamaha Racing Division Manager.

Pirelli's Tarah Gieger Returns to Action to Defend X Games Gold Medal

Rome, Ga. - One year ago, Tarah Gieger made women's motocross history by becoming the inaugural gold medalist in the Women's Moto X competition at the ESPN X Games. Injured since May with a broken wrist suffered at the FIM World Motocross Championship, Gieger will make her 2009 U.S. motocross debut on Saturday inside The Home Depot Center defending her gold medal aboard Pirelli Scorpion MX tires.

Pitted against some of the world's toughest riders last year in five-time WMA champion Jessica Patterson and perennial front-runner Sherri Cruse, Gieger outlasted the competition and kept the bike on two wheels to take the biggest win of her young career.

The Puerto Rican native will showcase Scorpion MX hard 90/100-21 front tires and Scorpion MX Hard 120/80-19 rear tires made especially for four stroke machines. The top-quality structure and unmatched durability give Gieger an advantage on the hard-packed, slick surface she and her competitors will face Saturday afternoon.

The newly-named Women's Moto X Super X gets underway Saturday, August 1 at 6:15 p.m. from The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Television coverage of the festivities can be seen on ESPN beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

STARS COME OUT TO CHEER AND JEER TRAVIS PASTRANA AT RED BULL TOASTED Action Sports Icon Celebrated in Hollywood on Eve of X Games

Courtesy of Red Bull

HOLLYWOOD, CA (July 28, 2009)Travis Pastrana is one of the most successful and most beloved figures in action sports, but tonight it was time to put Travis on the hot seat. A full house of fans, athletes and celebrities gathered at the Avalon Hollywood to pay tribute (and to poke a little fun), at all that Pastrana has contributed to the world of action sports at Red Bull Toasted. The event was a surprise to Pastrana until he arrived at the venue in a restored English double-decker bus, but the presenters were more than ready to give Travis a ribbing (with love, of course).

Travis took his licks in good spirits, saying “It was epic to have so many of my friends and family come out tonight. When Red Bull does something, they do it huge. It was a roast and it was funny, but there was a lot of respect. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Going into X Games, all I’ve been thinking about over and over is Best Trick, the Rodeo 720, if you will, and tonight distracted me in a really good way.”

Red Bull Toasted featured special appearances by several iconic friends and family members of Pastrana. Video montages showcased his life and career – his highlights and even his goofier moments. Roasting and toasting Travis included: Arj Barker (Flight of the Conchords), Tony Hawk (skateboard legend), Sal Masakela (Host of E! Daily 10), Brian Vickers (Red Bull Racing NASCAR driver), Greg Giraldo (comedian and Comedy Central roaster), Dan Levy (comedian), Ryan Sheckler (skateboarder and star MTV’s Life of Ryan), the cast members from MTV's Nitro Circus, including Andy Bell, Jeremy Rawle, Gregg Godfrey and Jolene Van Vugt, Kelley James (singer), Debbie Pastrana (Travis’ mother), Robert Pastrana, (Travis’ father) and Carey Hart (motocross star).

Spotted at the event were Audrina Patridge and Brody Jenner from MTV’s The Hills, Verne Troyer, Ryan Cabrera and Steve-O.

Fellow athletes in attendance included Robbie Maddison, Ronnie Renner, Mat Rebeaud, Ashley Fiolek, Tarah Gieger, Levi Sherwood, Lance Coury, Ian Walsh, Sandro Dias, Daniel Dhers, Kevin Robinson, Parks Bonifey, Corey Bohan and Corey Martinez, in addition to Vickers and Sheckler.

Highlights of the night included a fierce thrashing of every celebrity in the room by comedians Dan Levy and Greg Giraldo, most of which cannot be repeated without a “bleep.” Kid Rock (via video) recounted a New Year’s Eve party which ended with Travis BASE jumping from his suite in the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, a bewigged Troyer made a surprise appearance on-stage and almost every roaster made a point to describe Travis’ amazing motocross ability…and complete lack of skills with women.

The guests in attendance were also the first to hear “what’s next” in Travis’ career. He was passed the torch – or in this case, the steering wheel – and will be the star of the 2009 Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. New Year’s Eve event, live on ESPN. Look for more details on how Travis will take over New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles in the coming months.

Supermoto Returns to X Games 15

X Games logoImage via Wikipedia

Courtesy of XGames 15
X Games 15 features the return of the most exciting racing on two wheels as the world's top motorcycle racers will vie for Supermoto Gold. Although race promoter Gavin Trippe gets credit for creating the concept of a hybrid roadracing/motocross competition for the original "Superbikers" race for ABC's Wide World Of Sports more than 30 years ago, it is the French who have really embraced the concept and have made the sport of "Supermotard" their own in recent years. In fact, 2007-2008 Supermoto World Champion Adrien Chareyre has just confirmed he will be coming from France to compete on the track at the Home Depot Center.

Adrien Chareyre will defend his X Games Supermoto title.
Supporting the super fast Supermotard racer will be a local dealer as San Diego's GP Motorcycles will be race-prepping Chareyre's Husqvarna SM450 motorcycle. As San Diego's only all-European motorcycle dealership and an authorized Husky dealer, GP Motorcycles was a natural to play host to the champ. Adding to the international flavor of this team is a French rider on an Italian-made motorcycle (the brand actually originated in Sweden) fueled by GP Motorcycles' owner Paul Lima's passion for the classic style and character of historic European motorcycle marques.

As he says, "the intent for opening the dealership was to fill a cultural void and create a cool place to hang out, eat, sleep, and breathe European motorcycles. Chareyre should feel right at home with his X Games team!" The fact that his team will be competing just up the road from Lima's home turf makes his commitment even deeper.

Nicknamed "Le Chat" the likable Chareyre has been racing motorcycles since he was 4 years old, competing in the European and French National Motocross Championships until he was 15. He then switched to the Supermoto discipline back in 2001, starting on a little 50cc minibike and working his way up through bigger bikes to ultimately become the World Champion. Check out www.adrienchareyre.com for the latest photos and video clips from recent competition. Adrien comes into the X Games having just won both legs of the World Supermoto Championships at the historic Mallory Park in the U.K. Leading the series with a perfect 100 point total he is one the American heroes - former X Games Gold medalist Jeff Ward and Supercross phenom James Stewart - will have to look out for at the Home Depot Center.

The X Games makes a seventh appearance in Los Angeles July 30-August 2 with events staged at the STAPLES Center, the Home Depot Center, and the Event Deck at LA Live. Events on tap this year are BMX Street, Moto X Best Whip, Women's Moto X Racing, Moto X Speed & Style, and BMX and Skateboard SuperPark.

To purchase X Games 15 tickets ( Click). Ticket are $10 - $20. Thursday, July 30 is Kids Day with FREE admission to all the practice sessions at the Home Depot Center.

X Games Venues: STAPLES Center, BMX and Skateboard Big Air, Moto X Best Trick and Step Up will be featured. The Home Depot Center features X Fest, the ultimate action sports festival featuring sponsor & industry booths, BMX and Skate Vert competitions, interactive parks, athlete appearances, demos and new-to-the-X Games BMX and skateboard SuperPark. Competitions to include BMX and Skateboard Vert, Moto X Men's and Women's Racing, Moto X Speed & Style, Moto X Freestyle, Skateboard and BMX SuperPark, and Rally Car Racing.

Generator Oil Changes at Amateur Nationals

Courtesy of MX Sports
MX Sports
MX Sports is pleased to announce that AMSOIL, the presenting sponsor of the 2009 Air Nautique AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship is again offering free generator oil changes to all riders and teams that qualify for the National.

"The top amateur riders have prepared themselves extensively for the rigors they will find on the track at Loretta's," said Jeremy Meyer AMSOIL Race Program Manager. "But in all of that preparation, something as simple as changing the oil in their RV generator might have been pushed aside. The oil in most RV's at Loretta's has been pushed well beyond its intended use, so AMSOIL is providing a helping hand during a time when a team's focus should be on winning."

If you are interested in having your generator serviced during your stay at Loretta Lynn's, you may pre-register by going to www.amsoil.com/generatorcontact.aspx.

The cost of the program is free, and the Amsoil crew does the work for you. They just need to know the brand name and model number, along with the oil filter number to ensure the proper products are being used in your generator.

If you don't wish to pre-register, a registration table will be in available at the AMSOIL Arena when you pick up your rider packets, or you can stop by the AMSOIL Trailer at anytime during the week.

Sunoco Official Fuel of Amateur National MX

Courtesy of MX Sports
MXSports Pro Racing is pleased to announce that Sunoco is the Official Race Fuel for the Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships presented by Amsoil, held August 2nd through August 8th at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN.

"The Air Nautiques AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships is one of the most popular and well managed amateur organizations in racing and Sunoco is proud to partner with them to help support the thousands of grassroots racers that they represent," said Rob Marro General Manager of Performance Products and Automotive Events, Sunoco, Inc. "We look forward to growing this partnership in the future. "

The involvement of Sunoco Racing Fuels is a multi-yearpartnership between the company and MX Sports.
"We are honored to bring Sunoco Race Fuel into the Loretta Lynn family," said Tim Cotter, Event Director for the Amateur National. "Their name is synonymous with high performance fuels in nearly every discipline of racing."

"We are very happy for the opportunity to further enhance our relationship with the AMA competitors, particularly the amateurs," Marro added. "We were able to develop a program with the AMA Pro Road Racers that provided a value to both the organization and also to the competitors by providing a safe, high quality, competitive fuel at a price significantly lower than the competitors had previously paid. We look forward to working with the Amateur National Motocross Championships to develop a similar program for the amateur motocross racers with the goal of making racing at this level safer and more affordable."

About the Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships
Produced by MX Sports, Inc., the Air Nautiques/AMA National Motocross Championships is the world's largest amateur motocross race. Hosted annually since 1982 at the home of country music star Loretta Lynn in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., the event is the premier amateur motocross race in the world. Approximately 25,000 racers attempt to qualify in 33 classes for the 1,386 available gates at the finals. The National event, christened "The World's Greatest Motocross Vacation", is held the first week of August annually. As proof of the significance of winning an AMA Amateur National Championship title, most of today's top motocross and Supercross stars, including Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, and Ryan Villopoto, won championships at Loretta Lynn's. Stewart confirms Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto

Stewart confirms Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto

July 28 - Los Angeles, CA - Defending Supercross Champion James Stewart confirms that he will be competing in X Games 15 in Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto racing. “I’m pumped to have a chance to attend and compete,” says Stewart. “I have always wanted to do the X Games, but this is the first time that it has actually worked out contract and schedule wise.”

In fact just hours before showtime, Stewart and his team are hard at work in California dialing in his hybrid roadracer/dirtbike Yamaha YZ450F Supermoto race machine. “Obviously I’m at home on a supercross track but I’ve never raced Supermoto before so this is all new to me. I can’t wait though; it’ll be a blast!” As for Best Whip, “That’s in the bag,” he laughs.

“Honestly, I’m pleased that James is finally making his debut at X Games,” offered former AMA Supercross and Motocross champion Ricky Carmichael, an X Games Step UP Gold medalist in his own right and the winningest rider in motocross and supercross history. “X Games fans deserve to see the best of the best so it’s a natural that guys like Stewart, Josh Grant and Kevin Windham would be there. They benefit from tremendous exposure and being able to position themselves with the other elite athletes that X Games attracts.” Today the former motorcycle champion is pursuing a NASCAR career behind the wheel of the #4 KHI All-Stars Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado.

Team Manager Larry Brooks says James will be racing the same Yamaha YZ450F that took him to this year’s Supercross season title. “But we haven’t decided yet if he will do the Best Whip on the 4-stroke or compete aboard a YZ250 2-stroke.”

The L&M San Manuel Band of Mission Indians-sponsored team is approaching X Games 15 with the same single-minded determination they used to capture the 2009 AMA Supercross championship. “Although James has never raced a Supermoto event before now, he was incredibly fast in our first test and he plans to be a major factor at the X Games,” says Brooks.

Keith McCarty, Yamaha Racing Division Manager, had this to say about his team: “We are very excited for people to see James Stewart competing in multiple classes at X Games. Its a great way for more of them to witness his talents. We also have Brandon Curry racing Supermoto and Nate Adams has added his name to the competition.” Josh Hill currently is injured.

“This is important to the entire team and James even had the X Games built specifically into his contract for this year. Let’s face it, in terms of media value alone for team sponsors like San Manuel, the X Games reaches even more fans than the Supercross and Motocross seasons together,” concludes Brooks. “A chance for James to show his amazing talents on live television before the world is invaluable. Our entire organization is really looking forward to it.”

The fun begins this Thursday as fans can see Stewart in the Best Whip competition starting at 5:15 at the Staples Center and in the Supermoto Final Saturday, August 1 starting at 1:30 at the Home Depot Center.
