WHERE: Los Angeles, California
WHO: More than 200 of the best action sports athletes including motocross champion and Oakley athlete James Stewart. It was announced in a press conference today that Stewart has signed on with Team San Manuel and, in addition, will compete in ESPN’s X Games 15 in July and the Moto X World Championships in the spring. Stewart began racing at the age of four and has raced motorcycles his entire amateur and professional career (dating back to 1993). In 2007, Stewart dominated the World Supercross GP and the AMA Supercross Series, successfully winning both championships. In 2008, Stewart was the AMA Motocross Champion with a “perfect season” – winning 24 of 24 races – only the second rider in the history of the sport to do so. This will be the first X Games appearance for Stewart.

The X Games, the premier action sports event in the world, will be held July 30 through August 2, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.
The X Games features athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following sports: skateboarding, motocross, BMX and rally car racing. Practice and elimination for the events will be held July 28-39, 2009. X Games 15 will be covered live on ESPN’s family of networks, including ABC, as well as across ESPN’s many digital media assets including EXPN.com and ESPN360.com. The event has been held in Los Angeles for six years, and will remain in the city through at least 2009.
POPULARITY OF X GAMES
X Games 14 was ESPN’s most-viewed X Games among households, men 18-49 and 25-54 as well as persons 18-49 and 25-54. In addition, ABC’s X Games 14 was up double digits year-to-year among households an increase of 14% overall from X Games 13. After receiving an outpouring of support from the motocross community last season, the breast cancer fundraiser that supports the Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk will return to Steel City in 2009. As the world's best riders compete on the track for the coveted championships, the planet's most loyal and passionate fans will lend a helping hand to find a cure for breast cancer at the Steel City Motocross National, the series finale of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
A variety of activities are scheduled for all in attendance at Steel City over Labor Day weekend. Fans will have the opportunity to go online and name the Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk Crew team of Cam Johnson, Pat Bonner, and Shasta Johnson as well as support the cause by wearing a limited edition Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship bracelet. Additionally, an auction and raffle will be held on race day, September 5, for a chance to win exclusive autographed motocross memorabilia donated by the supporters within the industry. Spy Optics at XGames 15
Summer is in full effect and it’s that time of year again for X Games 15 to kick off with four full days of action packed pursuit of gold. From July 30th-August 2nd X Games 15 will be hosted at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles and at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. Spy’s athletes will be competing in four disciplines this year: Moto X Freestyle, Moto X Step Up, Moto X Super X-Men and Supermoto. Bakersfield, Calif., July 29, 2009 - Top Women's Professional Motocross Racer and X Games Silver Medalist Sherri Cruse will be racing a Circle K themed
20-year-old Cernic's/AXO rider Sherri Cruse will be competing in the Women's Super X event in X Games 15, the biggest and most prestigious action sports competition on the planet. HOLLYWOOD, CA (July 28, 2009) – Travis Pastrana is one of the most successful and most beloved figures in action sports, but tonight it was time to put Travis on the hot seat. A full house of fans, athletes and celebrities gathered at the Avalon Hollywood to pay tribute (and to poke a little fun), at all that Pastrana has contributed to the world of action sports at Red Bull Toasted. The event was a surprise to Pastrana until he arrived at the venue in a restored English double-decker bus, but the presenters were more than ready to give Travis a ribbing (with love, of course).
Travis took his licks in good spirits, saying “It was epic to have so many of my friends and family come out tonight. When Red Bull does something, they do it huge. It was a roast and it was funny, but there was a lot of respect. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Going into X Games, all I’ve been thinking about over and over is Best Trick, the Rodeo 720, if you will, and tonight distracted me in a really good way.”
Red Bull Toasted featured special appearances by several iconic friends and family members of Pastrana. Video montages showcased his life and career – his highlights and even his goofier moments. Roasting and toasting Travis included: Arj Barker (Flight of the Conchords), Tony Hawk (skateboard legend), Sal Masakela (Host of E! Daily 10), Brian Vickers (Red Bull Racing NASCAR driver), Greg Giraldo (comedian and Comedy Central roaster), Dan Levy (comedian), Ryan Sheckler (skateboarder and star MTV’s Life of Ryan), the cast members from MTV's Nitro Circus, including Andy Bell, Jeremy Rawle, Gregg Godfrey and Jolene Van Vugt, Kelley James (singer), Debbie Pastrana (Travis’ mother), Robert Pastrana, (Travis’ father) and Carey Hart (motocross star).
Spotted at the event were Audrina Patridge and Brody Jenner from MTV’s The Hills, Verne Troyer, Ryan Cabrera and Steve-O.
Fellow athletes in attendance included Robbie Maddison, Ronnie Renner, Mat Rebeaud, Ashley Fiolek, Tarah Gieger, Levi Sherwood, Lance Coury, Ian Walsh, Sandro Dias, Daniel Dhers, Kevin Robinson, Parks Bonifey, Corey Bohan and Corey Martinez, in addition to Vickers and Sheckler.
Highlights of the night included a fierce thrashing of every celebrity in the room by comedians Dan Levy and Greg Giraldo, most of which cannot be repeated without a “bleep.” Kid Rock (via video) recounted a New Year’s Eve party which ended with Travis BASE jumping from his suite in the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, a bewigged Troyer made a surprise appearance on-stage and almost every roaster made a point to describe Travis’ amazing motocross ability…and complete lack of skills with women.
The guests in attendance were also the first to hear “what’s next” in Travis’ career. He was passed the torch – or in this case, the steering wheel – and will be the star of the 2009 Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. New Year’s Eve event, live on ESPN. Next week the world’s biggest motocross event will commence in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. for the legendary Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships from Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Pirelli Tire will be on hand to support the 28th running of the race with full service from its race semi August 4-8.
Pirelli-sponsored riders will receive first class treatment and full tire service throughout the five-day national while the company will provide special event pricing for all nationally-qualified competitors at the event.

Supermoto Returns to X Games 15
X Games 15 features the return of the most exciting racing on two wheels as the world's top motorcycle racers will vie for Supermoto Gold. Although race promoter Gavin Trippe gets credit for creating the concept of a hybrid roadracing/motocross competition for the original "Superbikers" race for ABC's Wide World Of Sports more than 30 years ago, it is the French who have really embraced the concept and have made the sport of "Supermotard" their own in recent years. In fact, 2007-2008 Supermoto World Champion Adrien Chareyre has just confirmed he will be coming from France to compete on the track at the Home Depot Center.

As he says, "the intent for opening the dealership was to fill a cultural void and create a cool place to hang out, eat, sleep, and breathe European motorcycles. "The top amateur riders have prepared themselves extensively for the rigors they will find on the track at Loretta's," said Jeremy Meyer AMSOIL Race Program Manager. "But in all of that preparation, something as simple as changing the oil in their RV generator might have been pushed aside. The oil in most RV's at Loretta's has been pushed well beyond its intended use, so AMSOIL is providing a helping hand during a time when a team's focus should be on winning."

Stewart confirms Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto
July 28 - Los Angeles, CA - Defending Supercross Champion James Stewart confirms that he will be competing in X Games 15 in Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto racing. “I’m pumped to have a chance to attend and compete,” says Stewart. “I have always wanted to do the X Games, but this is the first time that it has actually worked out contract and schedule wise.”
In fact just hours before showtime, Stewart and his team are hard at work in California dialing in his hybrid roadracer/dirtbike Yamaha YZ450F Supermoto race machine. “Obviously I’m at home on a supercross track but I’ve never raced Supermoto before so this is all new to me. I can’t wait though; it’ll be a blast!” As for Best Whip, “That’s in the bag,” he laughs.
“Honestly, I’m pleased that James is finally making his debut at X Games,” offered former AMA Supercross and Motocross champion Ricky Carmichael, an X Games Step UP Gold medalist in his own right and the winningest rider in motocross and supercross history. “X Games fans deserve to see the best of the best so it’s a natural that guys like Stewart, Josh Grant and Kevin Windham would be there. They benefit from tremendous exposure and being able to position themselves with the other elite athletes that X Games attracts.” Today the former motorcycle champion is pursuing a NASCAR career behind the wheel of the #4 KHI All-Stars Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado.
Team Manager Larry Brooks says James will be racing the same Yamaha YZ450F that took him to this year’s Supercross season title. “But we haven’t decided yet if he will do the Best Whip on the 4-stroke or compete aboard a YZ250 2-stroke.”
The L&M San Manuel Band of Mission Indians-sponsored team is approaching X Games 15 with the same single-minded determination they used to capture the 2009 AMA Supercross championship. “Although James has never raced a Supermoto event before now, he was incredibly fast in our first test and he plans to be a major factor at the X Games,” says Brooks.
Keith McCarty, Yamaha Racing Division Manager, had this to say about his team: “We are very excited for people to see James Stewart competing in multiple classes at X Games. Its a great way for more of them to witness his talents. We also have Brandon Curry racing Supermoto and Nate Adams has added his name to the competition.” Josh Hill currently is injured.
“This is important to the entire team and James even had the X Games built specifically into his contract for this year.
