AMA Amateur National Motocross on Versus

Press Release from MX Sports

The Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National from Loretta Lynn Ranch presented by Amsoil will return to Versus Network on Thursday, September 24th with extensive coverage of the world's biggest motocross race.

Racer TV on VERSUS will air the Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National from Loretta Lynn Ranch on Thursday, September 24th at 4:00 p.m. EST.
This year's show will air in HD, produced by the same crew that puts together the highly regarded Racer TV program covering the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series.

"It's not easy to develop a television package that encompasses the entire event at the Ranch," said Event Director Tim Cotter. "Future pro superstars are a big part, but we also showcase the lifers in amateur racing, as well as all the fun activities from around the ranch. We've had quite a few celebrities show up, too. You never know what will happen down there, but we do know the show can capture it all."

The event has aired on Versus since 2005, showcasing current and future pro motocross superstars such as Ryan Villopoto, Jason Lawrence, Josh Hill, Trey Canard, Austin Stroupe and last year's top graduates, Justin Barcia, Blake Wharton and AMA Horizon Award winners Darryn Durham and PJ Larsen. The show also chronicles youth, vet and women's class racers.

The half-hour show airs first on September 24, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. EST, and re-airs on Tuesday, September 29 at 4:00 p.m.

Jason Weigandt, host of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship on SPEED and NBC and the GNCC shows on Versus, will host the show.

"The pro stuff is great, but there's no week of the year that matches the fun of Loretta's," said Weigandt. "We get to meet tomorrow's stars today, and witness incredible racing. Plus, we get some really embarrassing footage of the kids when they're young, stuff that we can use against them when they're older. This is the chance to say you saw them before they were stars."

About the Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships
Produced by MX Sports, Inc., the Air Nautiques/AMA National Motocross Championships is the world's largest amateur motocross race. Hosted annually since 1982 at the home of country music star Loretta Lynn in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., the event is the premier amateur motocross race in the world. Approximately 25,000 racers attempt to qualify in 33 classes for the 1,386 available gates at the finals. The National event, christened "The World's Greatest Motocross Vacation", is held the first week of August annually. As proof of the significance of winning an AMA Amateur National Championship title, most of today's top motocross and Supercross stars, including Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, and Ryan Villopoto, won championships at Loretta Lynn's.
