Rock River Yamaha WMX Report

Jefferson, WI – The Rock River Yamaha team made their way to Sacramento, CA with two of the fastest women’s motocross racers in the world for the Red Bull Hangtown Motocross Classic. Both racers have traveled to the United States with the hopes of finding success in the Lucas Oil Professional Motocross series with the support of the Rock River program behind them. Courtney Duncan and Mackenzie Tricker turned heads in the first round of the WMX Triple Crown with impressive finishes as newcomers to the WMX series.
New Zealand native, Courtney Duncan set the bar high with impressive lap times in qualifying. Her best lap time of a 2:13 was almost four seconds faster than the rest of her competition allowing her to feel confident heading into the first moto. As the day progressed and the track conditions became rougher, lap times were not as fast as they were earlier in the day, but Duncan maintained consistency allowing her to be a front runner in both motos. In the first moto, Duncan made her way past Sayaka Kaneshiro and Mackenzie Tricker to take over the lead, where she would stay for the remainder of the moto. She dominated the first moto as she gapped the rest of the women and finished with a substantial lead over second place, Sayaka Kaneshiro of Japan. In moto two, Duncan was faced with passing Kaneshiro and six-time WMX champion Jessica Paterson. Duncan made the passes and took the win in moto 2. She finished 1-1 for the first round of the three round WMX series. The 17-year-old Rock River Yamaha rider made a bold statement winning both motos aboard her YZ125 and beating some of the fastest girls in the sport in her WMX debut.

Mackenzie Tricker of Australia also took home valuable championship points to go along with the various amateur national titles she has collected since coming to the States. She was able to get out front early in the first moto as she grabbed the holeshot and lead the pack of talented female riders. Tricker finished the moto in third after a long battle with Kaneshiro. In moto two she was able to stay towards the front of the pack and finish sixth. With the third and sixth place finish aboard her Rock River backed Yamaha, Tricker leaves the first round of the WMX Triple Crown with a fourth overall.
The Rock River riders proved to be tough competition as new additions to WMX. Round two of the WMX Triple Crown will be held at the High Point National in Mt. Morris, PA on June 8.

About the Rock River Racing Program:
The premise behind program is to support riders from their PW50 years through their 450 Supercross years.  Rock River's program does not focus on 1 rider, though winning a title would be a dream for the team, they are more interested in helping young talent step into the professional ranks and make a career out of racing.  They often refer to themselves as a stepping-stone, and while that may be true, the list of Rock River Alumni is long and strong in terms of talent.  Their team structure is set up for consistency throughout both the amateur and pro program.  For more information, please visit: http://www.rockriverracing.com/home
