MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki Signs Ronnie Stewart and Vicki Golden

Courtesy of MicroBilt/PRBC

KENNESAW, GA – Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki is proud to announce its 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross lineup for the upcoming season with popular riders Ronnie Stewart and Vicki Golden joining the squad. Stewart raced for Team MicroBilt/PRBC during the 2015 outdoor season and Golden is new to the team for 2016.

Stewart, a 25-year-old native of Easton, Pennsylvania, made a name for himself in the sport over the last few years, rising to be among the ranks of the best riders in the Northeast, before moving into the pro ranks. His hard work and determination has resulted in Stewart becoming a regular qualifier in the premier supercross class over the last couple of seasons.

“I’m happy to be a part of Team MicroBilt/PRBC again for 2016,” Stewart said. “I’m working hard to come back stronger than ever and hopefully I can make a solid charge during the second half of the season. It’s an honor to have Vicki part of the program too. Bringing her on board will shine a brighter spotlight on our team, which is great for our sponsors.”

Stewart is currently injured, having broken his wrist in a pre-season practice crash in mid-December, and will miss a number of supercross rounds during his rehab. MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki is currently reviewing options to possibly enter a fill-in rider for Stewart as he makes his recovery.

Golden, 23, of San Diego, was one of the big stories of last year’s supercross season and is best known for making history in Las Vegas last May by becoming the first female in more than four decades of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, to qualify for the "Fast 40" - the riders that transition to the night program from timed qualifying in the 250 Supercross class.

Her groundbreaking achievement was part of a series of her firsts for the sport, which also includes becoming the first female in history to complete Ricky Carmichael's Road to Supercross in AMSOIL Arenacross, earning her pro Supercross racing license. In 2011 Golden became the first female to qualify for an AMSOIL Arenacross Lites Class Main Event. This year with backing from MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki she will once again attempt to make history by becoming the first female to qualify for a 22-rider 250SX Class Main Event. She will race in the East Region, but will be attending all rounds of the 2016 Supercross season to be able to meet with fans and the media.
“I think the MicroBilt/PRBC team is going to be a really good fit for me,” Golden said. “It will be great to have more support. The team is on point and is willing to give me whatever I need to try to be successful. Last year I was kinda on my own and it was so difficult to handle so many of the team issues myself in addition to riding, I’m really happy to have this kind of support on my side. It will also be a big plus to have Ronnie as a teammate and mentor to help teach me the ropes. He’s got several seasons of experience and I’m eager to learn from him.”

This will be the first Supercross season for MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki. The team will race the outdoor nationals as well.

The Team will field a three man 250SX East Coast squad on KX™250F motorcycles.
Nick Gaines will be looking to take what they learned in his rookie year and build upon that experience. Justin Starling, who joined the team during the MX season last year will be returning to the team.  Anthony Rodriguez, coming off his 6th place overall finish in last years 250 east SX series, will round out the squad.

Traders has been a huge supporter of racing in the Mid Atlantic Region since 2008.  We are proud to announce that local Maryland rider Tony Archer will be riding a KX™450F at the east coast SXrounds, continuing the efforts in supporting local/regional athletes.  Former team mechanic and Maryland native, Kenny Day will be taking on the role of Team Manager.

Suzuki Announces New Elite Amateur Racing Team

Courtesy of Suzuki

Suzuki’s passion for motorcycling has led to a vibrant and successful history of motorcycle racing. From dirt racing to road racing, the passion to build athletes into champions and the desire to develop race-winning machines is a passion that has been ingrained into Suzuki’s DNA.

The future success of Team Suzuki’s professional racing efforts relies significantly on the stars of the next generation. For 2016, Suzuki is excited to announce the revival of its incredibly successful Team Suzuki Amateur Racing program. The program that helped foster some of the top names in today’s Supercross and Motocross roster will be re-introduced in 2016 with the next generation of rising amateur racers.

“We are proud to announce our six new Team Suzuki members,” said Pat Alexander, Suzuki’s Race Support Manager, “four who will ride the RM85, and two who will ride both the RM-Z250 and RM-Z450.”

The team will consist of RM85 riders Crockett Myers and Nicholas (Nikko) Capps, who will focus on the 85cc classes. Casey Cochran will compete in the 65cc division in 2016 while developing his skills on the RM85 in preparation for his transition to the 85cc class.

In addition, TJ Rios will contest in the Super Mini divisions aboard an RM85. Racing the RM-Z250 and RM-Z450 will be Ashton Hayes and Richard Taylor. Hayes will compete in the A classes, and Taylor will represent Suzuki in the B classes.

“We selected riders who are the top competitors in their region of the country,” said Alexander, “and for their professional racing attitude that will allow them to fit in well with the entire Team Suzuki racing family. With Suzuki’s help, these young racers will have access to other supporters and sponsors to help grow their careers. Plus, they’ll gain support from Team Suzuki members Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart, as well as other teammates and coaches. We know there is a lot that transpires between racing an RM85 and becoming a Supercross champion on an RM-Z450. This is how you build a future Factory team, and we are excited to get started.”

The growth of Suzuki Amateur Racing brings benefits not only to Suzuki’s newly announced Suzuki Amateur Racing riders, but to all Suzuki racers. “Nationwide, Suzuki racers will see a more dedicated Suzuki Amateur Racing crew at events,” said Alexander, “that’s been missing in the recent past, but we are rebuilding our program with good support and good product to benefit all Suzuki riders.”

The enhanced race-support program will help build future Suzuki champions, it will reward many Suzuki racers for their efforts with increased contingency awards, and it will support Suzuki riders at tracks nationwide. Several of these initiatives were kicked off last summer, including the Trackside Support program and increased contingency spending.

Suzuki is excited to expand its amateur racing efforts in 2016 and is looking forward to a successful season. For more information on Team Suzuki Amateur Racing, visit racesuzuki.com!

Schmelyun stays on with BLUE Buffalo/Slater Skins/Yamaha for 2016

Courtesy of Blue Buffalo/Slater Skins/Yamaha

#548 Broc Schmelyun will again race the 450 Premiere Class in 2016 for the BLUE Buffalo / Slater Skins / Yamaha Team. He will be racing select East Coast 450 AMA Supercross rounds with most of his efforts being on bike and product testing for his focus on the AMA 450 Pro Motocross Series, starting in May. We all remember Schmelyun’s insane get-off over the big triple at High Point Raceway (Mount Morris, PA) during this year’s 450 Pro Motocross Series. The video became one of the most virally shared in all of 2015. Broc underwent surgery for a broken femur, broken fibula and torn ligaments in his ankle. At that time he was on his way to his 6th top 20 moto finish in as many races. Schmelyun has already been back to riding and training for the last 3 months and will have his sights most focused on getting inside the top 15 in the 450 Outdoor Series.

“Broc Schmelyun has shown us that he is a strong 450 rider and someone we can count on to give a 110% on the track. He’s the perfect fit for this team and we are glad to have him back. We (BLUE Buffalo) know we haven’t seen the best of Schmelyun and that 2016 could be that time.” - Dave Petrie (Vice President,  BLUE Buffalo Company, Ltd.)

“Broc has proven to have as much heart for this sport as any of the greatest riders I’ve ever seen. He’s going to surprise a lot of people in 2016. Keep an eye on the #548.” - John Slater (Team Owner - BLUE Buffalo / Slater Skins / Yamaha Team

Seven Will Be Independent of TLD Starting in 2016

Courtesy of Seven

Corona, California: Three years ago, Troy was approached by James Stewart. James had a vision to build a new, authentic brand around what he believed motocross apparel should look and feel like for a rider. Together they created SEVEN.

Since then, the Troy Lee Designs brand and business has continued to grow, now requiring even more focus to develop and build new innovative products while the dream that has become SEVEN, is a worldwide recognized gear and apparel brand.

Troy and James both agree that the best way for Troy Lee Designs and SEVEN to thrive is to separate the businesses. With that being said and with the utmost respect between the both of them, the two brands will now be owned and operated independently from each other. SEVEN will be owned by James and operate by his team. Troy Lee Designs will continue to be the exclusive distributor of SEVEN through December 31st, 2015.

Starting January 1st, 2016 Seven Brand Inc. will be operated independently by the SEVEN team.

"The Spring 2016 SEVEN collection will be the beginning of a new chapter for SEVEN, for which we are extremely excited about" stated James Stewart. "I appreciate all the hard work and dedication that Troy and his team have put towards starting SEVEN and while we will not be partners in this venture going forward, we remain great friends as always" concluded Stewart.

"We are excited to see James back racing and we wish him the best in his new endeavor as an entrepreneur, where we are sure he will bring the same passion and dedication as he has on the track" added Troy Lee.

Courtesy of MX Sports

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (December 2, 2015) – The Seventh Annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross (RCSX), sanctioned by AMA, once again returns to Daytona International Speedway in 2016 for the biggest two-day amateur Supercross event in the world. Amateur racing will kick off Sunday, March 6 after Saturday night’s Daytona Supercross by Honda. Classes are offered for racers of all ages and skill levels, with the finals continuing on Monday, March 7.

“It is truly a pleasure to be approaching our seventh year of amateur supercross on the legendary Daytona International Speedway,” said Tim Cotter, Director of MX Sports. “We have been able to design a supercross track suitable for all ages and skill levels with the help of 15-time Champion Ricky Carmichael. However, the track will still maintain the same historic element that the best athletes of the world just competed on the night before.”

With 35 years of experience operating the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch, MX Sports is looking forward to producing this special two-day amateur supercross event at the World Center for Speed, Daytona International Speedway. Unlike the National format, riders do not need to qualify to participate at the event.

The class structure includes 35 classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Daytona International Speedway for the seventh straight year in 2016,” said 15-Time Champion, Ricky Carmichael. “RCSX has grown into one of the premier amateur races of the year and with a legendary backdrop like Daytona International Speedway, it is truly a unique experience. I look forward to hanging out with the riders and families and can’t wait to watch these guys and girls leave it all on the track in their journey to a number one plate.”

Amateur riders and their families are encouraged to come down early and camp on the Daytona infield, where hookups are available. Move in, sign up and camping begin on Friday, March 4, so amateur families can watch the pros compete on Saturday night in the legendary Daytona Supercross by Honda, as each rider’s entry comes with a ticket to the pro event. Amateur racing takes place on Sunday, March 6 and Monday, March 7.

To reserve your gate position for the 2016 RCSX please click HERE.

The Seventh Annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship will take place Sunday, March 6 through Monday, March 7 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Monday’s main events will return to RacerTV.com for live broadcasts, giving race fans across the country the opportunity to tune in and watch their favorite amateur racers battle for a number one plate.

RCSX serves as the opening round of the 2016 American Motocross Majors, making it among the five premier amateur motocross events in the country. The event will include OEM support, contingency along with the industry’s leading companies in attendance following the pro racing action. Long-time event sponsors who have helped build this event into a mainstay on the schedule, will return to support and activate during the weekend.

After weeks of talks and restructuring, Slaton Racing USA is excited to finally announce its partnership with KTM North America and the signing of Canadian standout Cole Thompson. The signing comes just weeks before the start of the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross Series.

Thompson comes with a proven Supercross background both as a competitive privateer and most notably as a member of the 2014 Rockstar Energy KTM team (now Factory Husqvarna), where he served as a fill-in rider for the team in the 250 East Coast Championships. Not only has Cole proven himself as a 450 Canadian National Outdoor Championship contender the last two seasons, the 22-year-old Canadian talent has enjoyed numerous top-10 Supercross finishes and, most recently, nearly won the 2015 Canadian National Arenacross Tour title, losing only by a few points.

Slaton Racing USA’s Paul Marciano Jr. couldn’t be more encouraged by the relationship with KTM and the arrival of Cole to the team. “Bringing a rider like Cole Thompson onto our team makes my job easier," Marciano said. "Not only does Cole bring years of top-level racing experience with him, but we will also look to Cole to help Zac Commans with learning the ins and outs of being a professional Supercross racer.”

The signing of Cole Thompson wouldn’t have been possible without the relationship forged between Slaton Racing USA and KTM Canada over the off season. While the focus will be putting Cole Thompson and Zac Commans to the front of the pack this January, the team is looking forward to building their relationship with KTM and its Royal-FOX-KTM Racing factory race team in Canada for 2016 and beyond.

KTM Canada’s Jean Sebastian Roy, “JSR,” has been a big part of building the relationship between the two teams, and the multi-time Canadian champion is as excited as anybody to have another Canadian rider in the United States fighting for podium finishes just as he did during his career. “I now can say that I’m confident Cole is going to be part of a great team for the upcoming Supercross series," Roy said. "We are working on a long-time relationship with Slaton Racing USA and I see a great opportunity for both teams in the future. Cole Thompson now has a home during the Canadian off season.”

Getting ready to kick of their 8th year of racing Supercross, the Slatons have never been more thrilled with the team’s direction. “My father and I have been at this for almost 10 years," said Team President, John Slaton. "We started with a pickup truck towing a small-enclosed trailer, and with the help of countless people and brands within and outside of the motocross industry over the years, we have continued to grow, and 2016 is looking like it will be our strongest yet. I know we still have a lot of work to do, and we will continue to grow and improve, but I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone past and present who has helped this team get to where we are today."

Make sure you stop by the Slaton Racing pits to meet Zac Commans (Instagram/Twitter: @zaccommans), Cole Thompson (Instagram/Twitter: colethompson16), and rest of the team when the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross season kicks off on January 9, 2016 in Anaheim, California.
2016 Slaton Racing team apparel including Commans and Thompson signature shirts will be made available in the next few weeks and will be sold online exclusively at www.justifiedcultures.com.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Seventh Annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross (RCSX), sanctioned by AMA, once again returns to Daytona International Speedway in 2016 for the biggest two-day amateur Supercross event in the world. Amateur racing will kick off Sunday, March 6 after Saturday night's Daytona Supercross by Honda. Classes are offered for racers of all ages and skill levels, with the finals continuing on Monday, March 7.

"It is truly a pleasure to be approaching our seventh year of amateur supercross on the legendary Daytona International Speedway," said Tim Cotter, Director of MX Sports. "We have been able to design a supercross track suitable for all ages and skill levels with the help of 15-time Champion Ricky Carmichael. However, the track will still maintain the same historic element that the best athletes of the world just competed on the night before."

"I'm really looking forward to returning to Daytona International Speedway for the seventh straight year in 2016," said 15-Time Champion, Ricky Carmichael. "RCSX has grown into one of the premier amateur races of the year and with a legendary backdrop like Daytona International Speedway, it is truly a unique experience. I look forward to hanging out with the riders and families and can't wait to watch these guys and girls leave it all on the track in their journey to a number one plate."

Amateur riders and their families are encouraged to come down early and camp on the Daytona infield, where hookups are available. Move in, sign up and camping begin on Friday, March 4, so amateur families can watch the pros compete on Saturday night in the legendary Daytona Supercross by Honda, as each rider's entry comes with a ticket to the pro event. Amateur racing takes place on Sunday, March 6 and Monday, March 7.

The Seventh Annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship will take place Sunday, March 6 through Monday, March 7 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Monday's main events will return to RacerTV.com for live broadcasts, giving race fans across the country the opportunity to tune in and watch their favorite amateur racers battle for a number one plate.

RCSX serves as the opening round of the 2016 American Motocross Majors, making it among the five premier amateur motocross events in the country. The event will include OEM support, contingency along with the industry's leading companies in attendance following the pro racing action. Long-time event sponsors who have helped build this event into a mainstay on the schedule, will return to support and activate during the weekend.

Courtesy of Blue Buffalo/ Slater Skins Racing

The BLUE Buffalo / Slater Skins / Yamaha Race Team proudly announces the addition of Larry Brooks as 2016 Race Team Manager.

Born close to the epicenter of American motorcycle racing industry in Southern California, Larry began riding and racing at a very young age. His inherent competitive nature had him winning races and championships while still in the amatuer phases of his career. That quickly translated into a successful racing career when he turned professional in 1985 winning three “125 Supercross Main Events” in his Rookie Year, then claiming the “Under 21 World Champion” title in his first full year as a pro. Larry earned “Rookie of the Year” honors the year following. He then continued on to claim several wins, championships, and “Top Privateer” rider titles over the course of nearly a decade. His success as a rider and desire to win eventually transferred, as he became one of the youngest and most successful team managers in the sport. Larry has been fortunate to work with some of the most talented and decorated racers in the history of Supercross and Motocross.

Area Qualifier, Regional Dates Announced for Loretta's

Courtesy of MX Sports

MORGANTOWN, W.Va - MX Sports, producer of the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by AMSOIL, is pleased to announce the 2016 Area Qualifier and Regional Championship schedule.

The qualifying program takes place in 33 states throughout the country, starting with the 54 Area Qualifiers that begin in February and run through the end of May. The 13 Regional Championships will run in eight major geographical regions throughout the United States, taking place in late May and through the month of June.

"Together with the AMA we have assembled an Area Qualifier and Regional Championship schedule that will minimize the travel time for our rider base. It has been the goal to provide Area Qualifier opportunities within 150 miles from every rider, and in most cases we were able to accomplish this goal," said Tim Cotter, Director of MX Sports. "The Area Qualifier and Regional Championship organizers are the backbone of the Amateur National, and we continue to see improvements in both the facilities and organizational skills of the promoters that participate in the program."

The Area Qualifiers serve as the first step in qualifying for the world's largest and most prestigious amateur motocross championship. The Regional Championships then serve as the next step to seed riders into the National Championship. Only riders who finish in a qualifying position at a Regional Championship are eligible to race the National the week of August 1-6.

"With so many outstanding race tracks and AMA motocross organizers to choose from, you would think the selection process for the Area Qualifier and Regional Championship schedule would be an easy task, but I can assure you it is not," said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow. "All that work pays off, however, because the racers are treated to exceptional tracks and facilities in great locations all across America. With the schedule now complete, the AMA and our promoting partner, MX Sports, can move our focus on working with the organizers to provide the best race experience possible at each of these events."

This year's lineup once again includes the many National-caliber tracks that have become such an integral part of the Road to Loretta's. From the historic Unadilla MX and High Point Raceway in the Northeast, to Washougal in the Northwest. The tour will also return to many other favorites such as the Southeast's Muddy Creek Raceway, RedBud MX in the Mid-East and Thunder Valley MX Park in the South Central region.
Brand new additions to the 2016 Regional Championship schedule include Texas' Oak Hill Raceway in the South Central region and Wisconsin's Motozone in the North Central region. Both tracks have played an integral part of the National program for years serving as Area Qualifiers, but will now host the youth regionals for their respective region.

"We here at Oak Hill Raceway are extremely excited to be hosting this year's South Central Youth Regional," said Oak Hill Raceway owner Jeff Oldenburg. "We have been hosting Area Qualifiers off and on for almost 20 years, and have been participating at Loretta Lynn's Ranch since 1982.  We promise to give the riders the best event possible."

The 2016 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship will take
place Monday, August 1 through Saturday, August 6 at Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

The entire 2016 Monster Energy Supercross Championship will be broadcast live on the American Forces Network (AFN). The Department of Defense operates the American Forces Network or AFN. AFN, a worldwide radio and television broadcast network reaches a half million American active duty, uniformed service personnel and their families overseas, stationed on U.S. military bases, at U.S. embassies and US consulates in 175 countries, as well as 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea.  AFN is a service of the American Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS), a field office of the Defense Media Activity (DMA).

In two years the Military Appreciation Race has emerged as one of the most anticipated races on the entire Monster Energy Supercross schedule, recognized throughout the racing industry with military inspired riding gear and motorcycle graphics. The entire supercross racing community has paid its respects to the men and women who serve our country, and as a result over $82,000 has been raised in support of San Diego's military community through donations and auctions featuring race-worn gear from the Military Appreciation Race.

To commemorate the new partnership with USO San Diego, Feld Motor Sports will donate $5,000 to the non-profit. In 2014, USO's services reached the military community over 260,000 times with the San Diego Downtown Center and San Diego's Neil Ash Airport Center assisting over 154,000 service members.

"The Military Appreciation Race has become an integral part of Monster Energy Supercross in just two years. San Diego has long been one of the most anticipated stops of the championship and with Petco Park sitting the heart of downtown's picturesque bayfront there couldn't be a better setting to celebrate our service men and women," said Dave Prater, Director of Supercross. "We are very excited to have a new, highly renowned partner in the USO. They are one of the most recognized names in military non-profits and we look forward to supporting their efforts with the close-knit supercross community."

Home to Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres, Petco Park hosted its inaugural Monster Energy Supercross race last year with Team Honda HRC's Trey Canard taking the historic win. The Military Appreciation Race will be the second of two visits to the venue, as San Diego will hold a pair of championship races for the first time in the 32 years that it has been a part of the schedule. The San Diego area is home to several military installations, which makes this stop of Monster Energy Supercross a perfect fit to honor to the men and women that have served the country.

The military-inspired gear worn by the world's best riders will be put up for auction following the Military Appreciation Race.
