Davalos Finishes Sixth in 250, Pourcel Finishes Ninth in 450

The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team made its way to the Thunder Valley National on Saturday, the third round of the 2016 AMA Motocross series, held at the Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, Colorado. Zach Osborne, Martin Davalos and Christophe Pourcel all had great days in Colorado while teammate Jason Anderson suffered from complications due to Thunder Valley’s infamous high elevation.

Zach Osborne had a strong finish in the first 250 moto with a fourth, and was looking to follow it up in moto two. Unfortunately he got hit right at the start of moto two and came out mid-pack. He spent the rest of the moto fighting for position, and impressively moved from 14th to sixth by race end. The 4-6 finish gave him fourth overall on the day. He is currently seventh overall in 250 rider point standings.

“I got off to a decent start in the first moto,” said Osborne. “I was sixth or seventh and worked my way into fourth. I tightened up a little bit and didn’t ride that great toward the end of the moto but hung on for fourth. In the second moto I got tangled up with someone at the start and almost got dragged down but I came back to sixth. It was a good moto and I was passing people the whole time. It was a good weekend - I felt really good. I feel like I had great speed today and I could have done some damage in the second moto. I’ll take my time with this week off and see what I can do at the next race at high point."

Martin Davalos had a great day at Thunder Valley. After finishing seventh in moto one, he came back with a vengeance in moto two with a very strong second moto. He pulled fourth at the start, made it up to second, and battled for position the remainder of the race. He eventually fell to fifth where he finished. The 7-5 result gave him sixth overall on the day. He is currently 12th overall in 250 rider point standings.

“I got great starts this weekend,” said Davalos. “I was able to put in a good first moto and a solid second moto. I got a good start the second moto. I was second then third for awhile but I ran out of energy a bit. I’m excited to take a weekend off in Florida and get recharged."

Christophe Pourcel got a mid-pack start in his first 450 moto and moved to 10th by the second lap. After falling back to 11th, he fought back for position and navigated his Husqvarna FC 450 up to eighth where he finished. He started towards the back of the pack in moto two and made his way up to 12th by the end of the race. The 8-12 finish gave him ninth overall. He leaves Colorado 12th overall in 450 rider point standings.

“I keep improving every weekend,” said Pourcel. “My speed was there this morning and everything is coming back. We’re going in the right direction."

Jason Anderson started the day strong with the fifth fastest qualifying time. Unfortunately, the high Colorado altitude got the best of him as he was forced to pull off in the second lap of the first moto and was unable to finish the day. He is currently seventh overall in 450 rider point standings.
