Haaker Leads EnduroCross Championship into Denver

Courtesy of EnduroCross

The 2016 AMA EnduroCross series will start the second half of the season in Denver this weekend and Colton Haaker holds a small seven-point lead over Cody Webb. Husqvarna’s Haaker has won three of the four races so far and looked very strong taking the win in Phoenix last weekend. KTM’s Webb, the two-time defending champion, has one win, two seconds and a third so far this season, enough to keep the pressure on Haaker.

While those two riders have been dominant so far, Husqvarna’s Mike Brown has been the most consistent among the rest. The ageless Brown had another strong ride in Phoenix to take fourth, backing up two consecutive third place finishes in Sioux Falls and Salt Lake City. He currently holds third in the championship.

Fourth is currently held by RPM KTM’s Ty Tremaine. The twenty-year-old is getting closer to the podium all the time. Tremaine also leads the Junior EnduroCross Championship, which is a championship within a championship for riders twenty-one and under.
Geoff Aaron continues to mix it up at the front on his GasGas and is tied for fifth in the championship with Beta’s Max Gerston.

Seventh is held by Kyle Redmond. The Factory Beta rider has displayed solid speed this season but struggled with putting together the top finish he is capable of.

Noah Kepple, another youngster battling for the Junior EnduroCross Championship, has qualified for all four main events thus far and finished fifth in Sioux Falls. He is currently tied for eighth with Canada’s Cory Graffunder. Graffunder thrives on the tough tracks and put in his best finish of the season so far in Phoenix with a sixth. He has finished on the podium in the past and is hungry to get back there in the four races still to come.

Tenth position is another tie between Poland’s Taddy Blazusiak and young Trystan Hart. Blazusiak opened the season with a third but has struggled since injuring his thumb at round two. Canada’s Hart, on the other hand, missed the opening round but has come on strong with sixth, seventh and fifth place finishes in Sioux Falls, Salt Lake, and Phoenix respectively. This is another kid to keep your eye on.

This weekend’s Denver event will be held inside the National Western Events Center on Saturday, October 1st. The Arena is open for free for the daytime practice and qualification sessions that start at 10:00 am. Then the Arena opens back up to the public at 6:00 pm with opening ceremonies at 7:30 pm.Tickets are available at: EnduroCross.com.

American Honda Signs Ken Roczen to Multi-Year Contract

Courtesy of American Honda Motor Co.

TORRANCE, Calif. (Sep. 21, 2016) – American Honda Motor. Co. is proud to announce the highly anticipated signing of two-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion Ken Roczen to a three-year agreement with Team Honda HRC. The young German rider will pilot the all-new 2017 CRF450R alongside new teammate Cole Seely in the AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross series. Honda has released a special video to celebrate the announcement.

Roczen already has a long list of accomplishments to his name, including the 2014 and 2016 AMA Pro Motocross 450MX Championships and nine premier-class AMA Supercross victories. Aboard 250cc equipment, he earned the 2013 250SX West title, and prior to coming to the U.S. to race full-time, he won the 2011 MX2 World Championship. Roczen is confident in his ability to build on that success, and he has Honda’s full support and commitment.

“I’m really excited to be a part of Team Honda HRC,” Roczen said. “I’m always looking to improve myself, as well as my surroundings, team and equipment, which is why I decided to make a switch. I want to have the upper hand on every other rider out there, and I think I have that with Honda. Things are still new, but I’m feeling amazing and blown away by the bike and the atmosphere of the team. I think that when any rider makes a switch to a new team, he doesn’t fully know what to expect, so having such a smooth transition so far has been great. Big changes like this are great opportunities to make a statement, and I think doing an awesome video to announce something so special and big is really unique, especially to our industry. I’m excited that Honda was on board with the idea. Other sports do things like this, but it’s kind of a first for someone in the motocross industry. Most of the inspiration came from my buddy Ken Block, who always puts out killer videos. I talked to Honda about it and they were super stoked. Everyone worked hard to get it done, and the finished product is great.”

Team Manager Dan Betley said he is pleased to welcome Roczen to Team Honda HRC. “I’m extremely happy to have a rider of Ken’s abilities and accomplishments become a part of our program, and I’m glad we can finally officially share this announcement with our fans. Ken has proven time and again that he has what it takes to consistently win races and run up front, and I’m confident in his ability to continue doing that aboard the new CRF450R. Together with his teammate Cole Seely, we have what I consider to be one of the strongest two-rider teams heading into 2017.”

ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING’S JOSH STRANG CLAIMS 2ND AT UNADILLA GNCC

Courtesy of Husqvarna Motorcycles

The Parts Unlimited Unadilla GNCC, Rounds 10, took place this past weekend in Unadilla, NY. Track conditions were really rough, slick in some areas, and perfect in others, caused from early morning showers. The clouds eventually cleared allowing the sun to come out which had race time temperatures in the lows 80’s.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Josh Strang bolted off the line and claimed a holeshot. He held his lead for the first few miles of the race before encountering other riders. He was locked in an intense battled for most of the race where he was going back and forth for second place. With one lap left in the eight lap race, Strang made the pass for 2nd and was able to hold his position until the finish. Josh Strang finished the race in 2nd for the XC1 Pro Class; a great way to come back from the summer break.

"The race went well. Not the result we were after, but still a solid finish. I struggled a little throughout the race, so a 2nd place finish isn't bad, i just want more. The whole team did great and it was good to get back to racing!" Said Josh Strang.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Andrew DeLong did not participate in this round due to a previously sustained injury.

GNCC Round 10 Results:

XC1 Pro

ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING'S COLTON HAAKER AND MIKE BROWN TAKE THE 2ND AND 3RD POSITIONS ATOP THE PODIUM

Courtesy of Husqvarna Motorcycles

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Colton Haaker and Mike Brown continue to finish towards the top at Round 3 of the AMA EnduroCross in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Going into the night, Haaker finished his heat in 1st place as did Mike Brown. Colton Haaker felt great after coming into this round after winning the first 2. His winning mentality took him off of the start line where he claimed the holeshot. Haaker would lead the first 2 laps and then continue his battle back and forth for the top spot the rest of the race. He would later finish in 2nd place.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Mike Brown battled throughout the entire race until lap number 13 when he was able to secure the final podium spot and finish in 3rd place.

The AMA EnduroCross Championship continues with round three in Phoenix, Arizona on September 24th.

Colton Haaker: “This weekend started out great with taking my heat win. The main event proved to be a battle. Finished with a solid 2nd place but still looking for that top spot. The team did great and we are looking forward to Round 4 in Phoenix.”

EnduroCross Rnd 3 Salt Lake City Results:
