ELLENTON, Fla. - Feld Entertainment® announced today that tickets for the highly anticipated 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, are now on sale at SupercrossLive.com. The world's premier off-road motorcycle championship, an American original, will kick-off a 17-race battle to crown a champion on January 7, in which reigning back-to-back champion Ryan Dungey will take on the formidable task of securing a third consecutive title against a star-studded international field of challengers.
For more than 40 years Monster Energy Supercross has thrilled audiences of all ages, continually positioned as one of the fastest growing sports. Nearly one million fans fill the seats of North America's most well known stadiums annually; while millions more from around the world watch the action unfold via international live streams and an exclusive broadcast partnership with FOX Sports. Fans are captivated by the spectacle of Monster Energy Supercross, the preeminent showcase for these talented and fearless world-class athletes doing battle in the most physically and mentally demanding sport. Competitors from over nine different countries have chased their Supercross dream to the U.S. for 2017, dedicating their lives to the pursuit of victory and putting in countless hours both in the gym and on the motorcycle for the chance to be called the best in the world.
Monster Energy Supercross is part aerial excitement and part high-speed chase, with riders launching 225-pound motorcycles upwards of 30 feet in the air at heart-pounding speeds. Competitors toe the line of control and chaos, with All-American superstar Dungey destined to continue his gripping rivalry with German sensation Ken Roczen, while hotshot Eli Tomac looms just behind them in his continued ascension to the top. In the ultimate battle of man and machine, only one rider will be rewarded for pushing his body and his bike to the absolute limit, basking in the glory of a championship.
At the pre-race Pit Party fans are fully immersed into the world of Monster Energy Supercross, given unprecedented access to the athletes, teams, and supporting sponsors. Annually, more than 350,000 attendees converge at this festival-like, behind-the-scenes complement to the on-track excitement, with exclusive opportunities to meet the riders, see the bikes up close, hang with the Monster Energy Girls and share memories on social media for an unparalleled fan experience.
Highlighting the 17-race season is the inaugural "Motofest - The World's Greatest Motocross Festival." This historic four-day affair will commemorate the championship's annual visit to Atlanta from February 24-27, bringing upwards of 1,000 riders to the sport's 25th and final visit to the famed Georgia Dome. For the first time ever, both Monster Energy Supercross and AMSOIL Arenacross will compete in the same city, at the same venue, on the same weekend, for a groundbreaking showcase of the world's two premier stadium racing championships. AMSOIL Arenacross will kick off the festivities on Friday, February 24, followed by Monster Energy Supercross' final race inside the Georgia Dome on Saturday, February 25. The action-packed weekend continues on Sunday, February 26, with a full slate of Amateur Supercross, followed by Ricky Carmichael University on Monday, February 27.
The entire 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Championship will air live on FOX Sports, including two races on the FOX broadcast channel. In addition, the authenticated FOX Sports Go app will live stream each race.
