CORONA, Calif. -- Supercross and Motocross rider Kevin Windham has signed a two-year extension to stay with the GEICO Powersports Honda race team, owned by Factory Connection founder Rick "Ziggy" Zielfelder, Jeff Majkrzak, and Mike Grondahl.
"It's already been a wild off season with all the rumors going around of where riders are going so it's cool to get this deal done now," Windham said. "I'm really happy to be staying with this team. It's home. These were the guys that gave me a second chance when I came back from my broken femur in 2002 and it just feels right to stay here.
"For this team to step up and give me a two-year deal is special. We won't have to sweat going through negotiations next year. Now we're looking at a place where I'm going to end my career. I couldn't be with a better group of guys."
The 32-year-old crowd favorite from Centerville, Miss., is coming off an impressive 2010 campaign where he finished as runner-up to the Supercross championship with two wins. Additionally, Windham scored an overall race win in the Motocross series filling in for injured Honda rider Davi Millsaps.
"It's funny because there's talk of my age and of my pending retirement but in many ways I feel like there are parts of my riding where I'm just reaching my prime," Windham said. "I feel great on the bike and we showed this year we could win. The entire team had great success, with Trey (Canard) winning the 250cc championship in Motocross, and everyone else scoring wins. We put forth a great team effort and that's what it takes.
"I don't think my riding is in decline in any way. I fully expect us to be contenders next year. I'm looking forward to the challenges. We're a very tight family and I feel like this is the best team I've ever been with. They're always there for the riders, to help us excel and make us better, and that's a good feeling.
"GEICO Powersports also has been a key to our success. They are a great company to ride for and they understand the sport so well."
Windham will ride the team's lone 450cc entry, which will once again be flanked by four 250cc rides. Majkrzak says having Windham as his team's leader is a perfect scenario for a multitude of reasons.
"K-Dub's an excellent rider, probably the smoothest guy many of us have ever seen on a motorcycle, and he certainly has championship potential every season," Majkrzak said. "The fans love him. He always gets some of the loudest cheers during rider intros.
"What most people probably don't know about Kevin is the positive influence he has on our younger riders. He's the one that shows them not only how to compete and excel at this level, but how to be a good person, respect the other riders, take care of your sponsors, and stay true to yourself. He's an exceptional representative of our team and we plan on having him on our team until he decides to hang up his boots."Was this post helpful? Webb, Carmichael to Lead Rockstar Makita Suzuki
Courtesy of Rockstar/Makita Suzuki
Team Suzuki Press Office - October 4.
Off-road racing legend Mike Webb will be leading Rockstar Makita Suzuki's 2011 Championship efforts as Team Manager for both the AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross series with support from Ricky Carmichael.
Webb has been a staple in off-road racing for nearly three decades and is currently at the helm of the 2010 GNCC off-road team as they take the Suzuki fuel-injected RM-Z450 towards the Championship title. In his storied history, Webb has helped Suzuki earn countless Championships in off-road racing and has been the Team Manager for the GNCC bike efforts since 1992.
"I'm really excited for this opportunity to help defend the AMA Supercross and Motocross titles that Ryan Dungey so masterfully won this year," Webb said. "I'm thrilled to be working with the team and Yoshimura, as we're all fully committed to keeping that Number One plate on the RM-Z450. I think 2011 is going to be a great season for us, for Suzuki, and for the RM-Z450."
To help spur the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team to another Championship-winning year in 2011, Webb has also secured the efforts of Ricky Carmichael as team adviser. Carmichael has a long history with Suzuki, as well, and is considered one of the greatest racers of all time in Supercross and Motocross. Carmichael will be helping the current Rockstar Makita Suzuki racers to fully-prepare for competition and advising them on bike set-up, race strategy and overall training approaches.
Said Webb: "Ricky is an undisputable Champion. I can't think of a better guy to help the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team to another winning season and I know the racers will all benefit from having him on our side."
With Webb and Carmichael at the helm of the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Supercross and Motocross team, Suzuki is looking forward to another phenomenal year at the races with their winning RM-Z450 in 2011.

DAVID VUILLEMIN STEPS IN TO LEAD MOTOCONCEPTS RACING TO THE TOP
9/30/2010
Temecula, CA. MotoConcepts Racing is pleased to announce the appointment of David Vuillemin as Team Manager. The legendary and talented Mr. Vuillemin, who answers to both “DV” and “The Cobra” as nicknames, has been hired to ensure that MotoConcepts Racing fulfills its mission to be the standard by which Motocross and Supercross race teams are measured.
After two years of deep involvement, careful observation, and critical analysis of Supercross/Motocross racing by Team Owner Mike Genova, the missing piece to MotoConcepts Racing became clear: The team needed a Team Manager/Coach that can help the riders achieve their greatness on the track while nurturing these successes by developing race bikes that are expertly tested and tuned. MotoConcepts Racing is confident that the famous French-American former World Champion is the right man for the job.
Said Mike Genova, Team Owner and Entrepreneur, “DV knows exactly what it takes to win; he’s proven that on the track, without a doubt. David is also renowned for being able to set up and fine-tune the machinery to perfection. These attributes, plus his intelligence, sincere manner, and his fan and rider-friendly charisma, made the decision to hire him a no-brainer.”
David wanted to relay these thoughts to the riders, industry, and fans of the sport, “This is my opportunity to make a positive impact on MotoConcepts Racing and the sport in general. I am really excited to be on the other side of the fence in this new challenge and put to use what I've learned from the best in the business like Keith McCarty, Roger DeCoster, and Jim Perry. My goal is to give the riders the best bike I can and help them improve in their riding to take the team to the next level.”

TLD Racing Signs Travis Baker
Courtesy of TLD Racing
The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda Team is excited to announce the signing of Travis Baker to a multi-year deal to ride West Coast Supercross and the Lucas Oil Outdoor National Series.
"I used to race with Travis' Dad back in the day, and Travis rode for us back when he was on 80's," says team owner Troy Lee. "He is a determined kid from a great family and we are really happy to have him on our team."
"My amateur career went pretty well," said Travis. "I walked away with quite a few championships, and a lot of second places my last year. And now this year was my first year as a pro. I think I showed some good speed, but I had a few crashes which had me out for a few rounds. But I know I can build on that, and keep working to be up front and have a solid season this year."
"I know I can be in the top five at every race, and I want to try and grab some podiums," Travis says. "I've learned a lot in the past year and I'm pretty excited for next year. I'm gonna work hard and go for it; try my hardest and have fun."
"I wore TLD gear a long time ago, so I know the gear is great. I'm really excited to be wearing it again and working with Troy. He always has the best designs."
The team is already making preparations for the 2011 AMA Supercross Series. Watch for updates on Travis and the team at: www.troyleedesigns.com/racing.
