Ryan Dungey to make KTM Debut at the Monster Energy Cup Saturday Night

Courtesy of KTM North America

MURRIETA, Ca. – KTM Motorsports announced today that 2010 Supercross class champion Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., will make his Red Bull/KTM debut this Saturday night at inaugural Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium.
“After testing the new KTM over the past two weeks, I am feeling confident enough to compete and am really eager to see where I stack up against the competition,” mentioned Dungey. “It’s a last minute decision to race this event but the team is behind me 100% and I am excited to make my debut on the bike.”
On October 1, it was made official that Dungey will compete aboard the KTM 450 SX-F motorcycle as part of a two-year agreement after five years under the Factory Suzuki tent. Dungey, 21, will ride under the guidance of legendary team manager Roger DeCoster, who brought Dungey into the professional ranks in 2007.
“To my surprise, Ryan was eager to race the Monster Cup,” commented Red Bull/KTM Factory Team Manager Roger DeCoster. “We didn’t expect him to race after only two weeks on the bike, but he will use the event to help gauge where he stands speed-wise against the competition. It will also give the team a racing opportunity to test different set-ups with the bike prior to the opening round of the Supercross. Ryan can then take this experience to prepare his training regime this winter.”
Dungey has won every major AMA Supercross/Motocross championship and became the first rider to win the coveted Supercross class and 450cc Motocross class championship as a rookie in 2010. In the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross championship, Dungey earned one win and 12 podium finishes en route to third place overall. He has a career seven Supercross class wins and 17 podium finishes.
“I’m looking forward to riding for the new Red Bull/KTM team and working again with Roger. I am excited to start something new and am ready for the challenge. I like the way that KTM has backed Roger since he made the switch last year and I appreciate KTM’s goal of working hard to develop their race team to earn championships. I am making this switch to win races and work toward getting that championship for KTM.”
The unique hybrid track will consist of supercross/motocross terrain and will have a tremendous motocross-style influence, making it unlike any other stadium race in the world. This track will be the perfect blend of supercross and motocross combined and created into the ultimate battleground. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and for the “first time ever” $1 Million will be paid to a rider that wins all three main events.

This is going to be a great year for us.”

Grant Langston said, “Being a team manager was a goal of mine. In planning what to do when I was done racing, this is it. It’s something I fit in well with: working with young talent, helping riders grow. I think I’ve got the personality for it. I met Stacey when I was racing because he approached me about using Öhlins suspension. We stayed in contact, last year I helped with the team’s rider training. LONG ISLAND MOTOCROSS Introduces All New Amenities.

Courtesy of LONG ISLAND MOTOCROSS
LIMX, located in Yaphank, New York, has announced the introduction of on site technical support, power washing facility, and on-site motocross bike storage.

Joe and Tammy Merrill are proud to announce the start of a new era in local motocross tracks. They are the first local track in the D34 area to introduce new amenities that  make Long Island Motocross THE place to ride and race.

"Many racers don't have the resources to have a large enclosed trailer filled with tools and space enough for a giant tub with a hundred gallons of water and the power washer to go. We are offering the weekend warriors and serious competitors on a budget a terrific alternative to riding around with a dirty bike or one that is way out of tune."

Enter Sal Sciabarrasi, a professional mechanic and ace suspension tuner. Sal also races locally at LIMX when he can so he knows exactly what works at the LIMX facility on any given day and can get your bike working the way the factory intended. He is available to service all brands of bikes from Kawasaki to KTM.

The power washer at LIMX is a for-rental unit that allows racers to have their bikes looking fresh and clean before the start of each and every moto if they so choose.  No one likes to line up looking like they just rode through a mud pit. Its not professional, and if attracting sponsors is on your agenda, a clean bike and image are as important as speed.

On track storage is a great way for the rider or racer on a time budget, who finds it a hassle to load, drag, pay tools for and then repeat at the end of a long tiring day. Wouldn't it be great to be able to leave you bike at the track and simply drive there, dress, ride then go home?  Well now you can. On site storage is available via secure , triple locked shipping containers. See Joe or Tammy at the track to make arrangement. Time is a commodity as much as money; money can always be replaced, your time can not.

Long Island Motocross is located off I-495 at exit 65 on Horseblock Road.
The website is http://www.islandmotocross.com/home.html
LIMX has hosted the 3rd Annual Xclusive Pro Race with stars Davey Milsaps, Martin Davalos and a host of top twenty national riders. They host rounds of the Extreme Motocross Series and  local events. LIMX also hosted the 2011 New York World Police and Fire Games with great success.

On October 9th LIMX will hold a riding clinic taught by local A/Expert riders. The next race will be on Saturday October 29th and will be a double LIMX Points race with the season finale on November 12th.

Call 631-286-9411 or email islandmotocross@aol.com  for more info.
