Reigning 250 Class Champion Jeremy Martin Leads Field of Rising Stars into Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Opener at Hangtown
Ambitious Group of Challengers Each Seek to Earn First Career National Title

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 12, 2015) – The highly anticipated summer-long battle of man and machine known as the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will officially get the 2015 season underway this Saturday with the 47th annual GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic, mere minutes from the California State Capital of Sacramento. For decades the 250 Class has been known as the division where stars are born and this season that distinction couldn’t be more accurate. Fresh off his breakthrough season a year ago in which he won his first career professional title, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin is set to defend his 250 Class crown against a hungry field of contenders all eager to accomplish the same feat and solidify themselves as the sport’s most promising young prospects.

Prior to the 2014 season, Martin had two overall podium finishes during his first full year of professional competition. While it was a solid rookie campaign that established a foundation to build from, virtually no one expected the Minnesota native to come out and dominate the first half of last summer’s championship the way he did, going a perfect 4-0 in motos to start the season and winning three of the first six rounds. The fast start Martin set forth ultimately proved to be too much for any of his competitors to overcome. He finished the summer with a top-10 finish at all 12 rounds and scored five victories en route to the title, including perhaps his most coveted at his home track of Spring Creek MX Park, owned and operated by his parents.

Martin’s dominant season vaulted him to stardom and he added his name to a list of budding talent in a division that has the potential to provide the most competitive 250 Class season in many years. He’ll enter Hangtown as the only rider with title experience, and while there’s no reason to doubt Martin’s ability to become the first repeat champion since Ryan Villopoto (2007-2008), he’ll have his work cut out for him with a list of title contenders desperate for a national title of their own.
Perhaps Martin’s primary challenger for this season’s championship will come from a familiar face – Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha teammate Cooper Webb. Like Martin, Webb is entering his third year in the 250 Class and has done well to build off his first career overall win and third-place finish in the championship last summer. Thus far in 2015 Webb has been very impressive, cruising to his first career professional title with a west region championship in supercross. Momentum and confidence are weighing heavily in Webb’s favor and he looks poised to continue Star Racing’s recent ascension to the forefront of the 250 Class.

This season’s east region supercross champion, Marvin Musquin, might have more to prove than any of his fellow competitors in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. The Red Bull KTM rider is one of the oldest and most experienced riders in the division, and the Frenchman is no stranger to winning championships, earning back-to-back FIM World Motocross MX2 Championships in 2009 and 2010. The 2015 season is Musquin’s final one in the 250 Class and while he’s already signed on to stay with KTM and ride a 450 beginning next season, he’s yet to achieve the title he came over to the U.S. to win. Musquin’s path to the supercross title was a dominant one and while his fourth-place 250 Class finish a year ago was solid, especially considering he was coming back from a serious knee injury, it looks like the Frenchman is ready to pull out all the stops this summer and leave the division in a big way.

Another rider set to embark on his final season of 250 Class competition is GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle. The 2014 season was big for Bogle, winning his first professional title in supercross and earning a career-best Pro Motocross finish in fifth. He’s been as consistent as ever so far in 2015 and he’ll be the true leader of a young GEICO Honda squad this summer. The Oklahoma native got his first taste of the overall podium on two occasions last season, and it’s not out of the question to think he has the ability to take the next step and challenge for wins in 2015.

Since he turned pro prior to the start of the 2013 season, it’s been a rougher journey to stardom than Adam Cianciarulo expected. Arguably the most successful amateur rider in the history of the sport, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki pilot has at times shown the speed that made him the most highly touted amateur since Villopoto, but injuries have plagued his development. A bout of salmonella poisoning delayed the start of his rookie season while an injured shoulder kept him out of the Nationals a year ago. Cianciarulo has endured more shoulder problems this season already, missing supercross, but it allowed him to fully focus on this summer. It’s been a over a full year since he’s logged a lap of competition in any sort of championship, but Cianciarulo isn’t a rider to ever count out and the entire Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is hoping he can help give them some success after a winless supercross campaign.

Several other riders have shown impressive progression over the last year and have the potential to add even more intrigue to an already loaded group of championship hopefuls. Jessy Nelson narrowly missed out on the first win of his professional career last season in Indiana, but he’s maintained that speed into 2015 and parlayed it into a supercross win in January for the revamped Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM team. Nelson will undoubtedly make his presence felt this summer and that success could very well filter down to his teammates Shane McElrath and newly added Mitchell Oldenberg.

Joey Savatgy, Chris Alldredge and Arnaud Tonus round out a four-rider lineup for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki. Savatgy has taken advantage of the best opportunity of his career by becoming a consistent podium threat in supercross and he’s capable of doing the same at the Nationals. Alldredge joined the pro ranks at the tail end of last summer and acclimated so well to the 250 Class that he nearly earned a top 20 finish in the points in just three races. With his first full season of action awaiting, Alldredge is a favorite to earn Rookie of the Year honors. However, one of his main challengers could be teammate Arnaud Tonus. While a veteran to the sport, Tonus is new to the U.S. and continues the legacy of talented European riders making the move overseas to compete in the world’s most prestigious championship. The Swiss rider has been fighting through a serious illness, but looks ready to line up on the gate at Hangtown.

With two of the 250 Class’ most prominent title contenders, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha will surely see success from its other two riders – Aaron Plessinger and Anthony Rodriguez. In his first season of professional action, Plessinger already looks comfortable going head-to-head against his more experiences counterparts and as a former Horizon Award recipient at the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, he’s got the speed to contend. The raw speed of Rodriguez is on par with virtually any other rider in the 250 Class, but over the last year the Venezuelan rider has developed his consistency and enters his sophomore season with greater expectations following an up and down rookie campaign that was hindered by injuries.
Red Bull KTM will field two riders this summer as Justin Hill joins Musquin in search of the team’s first 250 Class championship. Hill enjoyed a stellar season in 2014 in which he emerged as a front-runner, ultimately landing him a spot alongside Musquin for this season. While 2015 hasn’t gone as well as Hill would have hoped thus far, confidence is as high as ever and the belief he has the speed and the bike to be up front with his teammate is definitive.

The aforementioned GEICO Honda squad will be loaded with youth behind its leader Bogle. Matt Bisceglia will embark on his sophomore season, looking to build on a 15th-place effort in his rookie campaign that saw him miss multiple rounds with injury. RJ Hampshire got a taste of the pro ranks last summer by competing in the final three races of the season and thus far his first full year of professional action has been promising with his first career podium result in supercross. Rounding out the team lineup is rookie Jordon Smith. His supercross debut earlier this season was delayed thanks to a broken hand, but the North Carolina native is proving to be a quick learner, posting a season-best fourth as the Nationals approach.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing will make its anticipated return to the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship with a three-rider effort in the 250 Class. Veteran Martin Davalos has fought through illness and the effects of a broken foot suffered last season, but he still remains one of the most recognizable and experienced riders in the division that hopes to turn things around at the Nationals. The Zach tandem of Zach Osborne and Zach Bell each provide stellar speed and both riders have aspirations of becoming consistent podium contenders this summer, looking to make Husqvarna a household name once again.

From top to bottom, the 250 Class is home to a deep well of emerging talent. While title favorites have established themselves, look no further than last season to realize that any one of these rising stars has the potential to turn heads and make a surprising run towards a championship.

First German Champion Ken Roczen Begins Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Title Defense at Hangtown with New Look

Spearheads Exceptionally Deep Field of 450 Class Talent Set for Summer-Long Battle
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 12, 2015) – This Saturday the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will begin its summer-long journey to crown a 450 Class champion with the 47th edition of the GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic, in the shadow of the California State Capital of Sacramento. Leading the premier class into action and carrying the number one plate for the first time in his U.S. career will be Ken Roczen, the series’ first ever German champion in 43 years, aboard his new RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing machine.

One year ago, Roczen engaged in a spirited and captivating battle with his then Red Bull KTM teammate Ryan Dungey that went all the way down to the final lap of the season. Roczen outlasted his more experienced, multiple title-winning rival to earn a historic championship. During the offseason, he made a surprise departure from KTM to join the budding RCH Racing effort co-owned by 10-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion Ricky Carmichael and freestyle motocross pioneer Carey Hart. A full factory-backed team, RCH Racing had made consistent gains since its inception in 2013 but the addition of Roczen gives it the bona fide star it needs in order to establish itself as a title contender. With five overall wins to his credit last season, Roczen brings tremendous accolades to the team and was able to earn a pair of wins with RCH during this past supercross season before bowing out with injury and focusing on his title defense this summer.
While Roczen enters the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship with a strong chance at repeating, he’ll be up against what is one of the deepest and most talented 450 Class fields in series history. Sitting atop Roczen’s list of threats to take away his title is a familiar foe in Dungey. Following his third runner-up finish in five seasons of premier class competition, with titles coming in the remaining to years, Dungey brings in added momentum to the 2015 Pro Motocross season thanks to his second career supercross title. He’s established himself as one of the most consistent riders to ever throw a leg over a bike and he already sits second both on the all-time wins list (31) and all-time career podiums (55). Never finishing worse than second in a 450 Class season, Dungey should be right there yet again when the season draws to a close.

Another rider expected to make his presence felt in the battle for the championship is second-year premier class rider Eli Tomac. The GEICO Honda rider showed impressive speed last season despite missing the first four rounds with an injury and was able break through for victory at Spring Creek en route to a fifth-place finish in the final standings. For 2015 Tomac is at full health heading into the Nationals and is coming off a breakout supercross campaign in which he earned three wins and finished second in the championship. Confidence is high for the Colorado native and he looks to have every bit of speed and endurance to challenge Roczen and Dungey on a weekly basis.

A third former 450 Class titleholder that enters the 2015 season a little under the radar is Discount Tire Racing/TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed. The Australian veteran is the most successful international rider of all time and is one of three former premier class champions in the field. As a result of being the oldest rider in the field, at age 33, Reed seemingly always enters any championship as a bit of an underdog. And almost always, Reed responds in a successful manner. This past supercross season, the veteran took a convincing win just prior to turning 33 and although he hasn’t won a Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship race since 2011, Reed is as confident as ever that he’ll be a factor in the title fight. Adding to his title hopes is the addition of a teammate for the first time under Reed’s own TwoTwo Motorsports banner in Josh Grant. The California native won the season opening moto a year ago and is a 450 Class winner, back in 2009. He looks poised for a strong season alongside his owner/teammate.

The Joe Gibbs Racing owned Autotrader.com/Toyota/Yamaha effort brings perhaps its most formidable effort into the 2015 season. Since bursting onto the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship scene in 2009, Justin Barcia has proven to be one of the most exciting riders in the sport. His fearless and aggressive approach will always result in thrilling competition and after enduring a lengthy injury in supercross, Barcia and JGRMX have high hopes for a memorable summer. Complementing Barcia is Weston Peick, perhaps the most improved rider in the premier class thus far in 2015. Peick’s first opportunity aboard a factory motorcycle resulted in his most successful supercross season and now he has his sights set squarely on making his presence felt at the Nationals. The competitiveness of each of its two riders could be beneficial to the overall success of JGRMX this summer.

Justin Brayton was forced to miss some time during supercross but is completely healthy coming into the Pro Motocross season for BTOsports.com KTM. His presence will be important for the team, which will begin the summer without veteran Andrew Short, who suffered a knee injury late in supercross and hopes to return a few rounds in. Another rider under similar circumstances is Trey Canard, a title contender for Team Honda HRC. Last season Canard broke through to become a consistent front-runner and even took the first win of his career at the season finale in Utah to solidify third in the final standings. A broken arm suffered in supercross has put Canard in an uncertain position as the Nationals get underway, but his return appears to be imminent.

Lining up alongside Roczen under the RCH Racing tent is Broc Tickle. Just a few years ago Tickle enjoyed a career season in the 450 Class, finishing fifth, and he remains one of many riders that are expected to be a fixture inside the top 10 each week. Last season the Michigan native was forced to miss the summer with a serious back injury that left his future in uncertainty. Fortunately, Tickle has fully recovered and hasn’t appeared to lose any of the speed that has made him one of the premier class’ most dependable riders. The added confidence surrounding RCH has already benefitted Tickle’s efforts and he’ll be a strong complement to Roczen throughout the season.

While the collection of experienced 450 Class riders is as deep as ever, the addition of the strongest rookie class in recent memory is adding to the anticipation heading into Hangtown. Former 250 Class champion Dean Wilson will unfortunately miss the summer for Red Bull KTM with a knee injury, but three other riders are each capable of challenging for wins. Team Yoshimura Suzuki’s Blake Baggett is a former 250 Class titleholder in his own right, and his penchant for the motocross discipline has some considering what he might be able to accomplish this season. The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is no stranger to rookie 450 Class riders finding success and Baggett could be the next in line.

Additionally, Team Honda HRC’s Cole Seely will bring the most momentum of any rookie into the season thanks to a stellar supercross campaign in which he won one race and finished third at season’s end. Although he’s still in search of his first career Nationals win, Seely is already comfortable aboard the big bike. Completing the rookie trio is Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jason Anderson, who will be the lead rider for the manufacturer’s anticipated return to the series. Anderson has shown impressive speed aboard the new motorcycle and has plenty of talent to put Husqvarna back onto the Pro Motocross podium.

Even though the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship season has yet to begin, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing has already made the biggest splash with the signing of Frenchman veteran Christophe Pourcel. While he’s never raced a full season of 450 Class competition, Pourcel has considerable experience in the 250 Class and has made a name for himself with his unique European style and innate ability to lay down a fast lap. He’s one of the most intriguing players for what is shaping up to be a memorable 2015 season.

Red Bull Straight Rhythm Returns for 2015

Courtesy of Red Bull Media House

After a highly successful inaugural event in 2014, Red Bull Straight Rhythm will return for a second consecutive year. The 2015 event will take place on October 11 and will once again be held at Fairplex in Pomona. An evolution of the sport of supercross, the event features head-to-head racing on an “unwound” track, where there are no turns, just a 1/2 mile-long straight rhythm section. Straight Rhythm is a flagship event of the Red Bull Signature Series, a collection of the most innovative and progressive events in action sports.

The inaugural event, held at the Auto Club Raceway at Fairplex, saw James Stewart win the Open Class, with Marvin Musquin taking home the top spot in the 250cc Class. This year’s format will feature 24 riders broken up into two classes – 16 riders in the Open Class and 8 riders in the Lites Class (less than 250cc). Riders will race in a head-to-head, best-of-three bracket format. By isolating just the whoops, doubles, table tops and step on/offs, this format demands that riders focus exclusively on reading the terrain in front of them and correctly judging their speed / throttle input for precise distance and control over the features. Many of the world’s top supercross and motocross riders are expected to return to the competition.

“The Red Bull Straight Rhythm course demands a style of riding unlike the traditional tracks we face all year long. Ultimately there’s less time to recover from a mistake so the goal is to maintain a certain rhythmic tempo. It’s a definite challenge," said James Stewart, 2014 RBSR Open Class champion.

Straight Rhythm will air on NBC on November 29, 2015 as part of the Red Bull Signature Series, the most progressive action sports property in the world. For more information, please visit www.redbullsignatureseries.com. For additional event information and updates, please visit redbull.com/straightrhythm. The event is presented by Pennzoil and supported by GoPro, Samsung Milk Video and Polaris RZR.

Nitro Circus - Announcing the 2015 Fall North American Tour!

Courtesy of Nitro Circuis

Hot on the heels of Josh Sheehan’s groundbreaking world first triple backflip on a motorbike, Nitro Circus (www.nitrocircus.com) today announced details for its greatest ever all-new arena tour coming to 25 North American cities this fall. The world's biggest live action sports show will visit 11 first-time markets such as Chicago, Denver and Washington D.C. as well as six Canadian stops, making it the most extensive run that Nitro Circus has ever undertaken.
Nitro Circus Live’s latest creation takes things to a whole new level, as the best athletes in freestyle motocross (FMX), BMX, skate and more unite for a spectacular all-new production. Starring 17-time X Games medalist Travis Pastrana, the tour will feature unbelievable new tricks, record-breaking feats, insane stunts and the craziest contraptions ever, plus a whole new repertoire of daredevil fun.

“We can’t wait to bring this all-new tour to North America. The stage set is over the top and will definitely pump up the crowd,” says Pastrana. “The energy fuels us to push ourselves to the limit and put on an amazing show. You really never know what could happen.”

Pastrana will lead an elite team of athletes showcasing a star-studded FMX line up that includes the world’s first triple backflipper and reigning X Fighters champion Josh Sheehan, Australian X Games gold medalists Blake “Bilko” Williams and Cam Sinclair and American superstar Adam Jones. On the BMX side, show attendees can expect to experience a cavalcade of never before seen madness, led by one of the most decorated riders of all time, Chad Kagy, along with James Foster, the only person currently performing the BMX triple backflip, plus a host of other big names including “The Warrior” Jed Mildon, X Games medalist Andy Buckworth, and plenty more.

On this tour, Jolene Van Vugt, the first female ever to backflip a motorbike, will go for another groundbreaking World’s First as she attempts to also become the first ever female to do a double backflip on a BMX bike. Wheelchair motocross (WCMX) star Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham will show what defying limits is all about by hitting Nitro’s infamous 50 foot Gigant-A-Ramp. Also, completely new to the show this fall and, in a breathtaking display of strength and skill, three-time X Games gold medalist Daniel Bodin will backflip a 400-pound snowmobile ramp to ramp. Additional show contraptions include quad bikes, mini-bikes and a host of other outrageous new motorized and non-motorized monstrosities. In all, there will be more than 10 world first’s, each never seen in the USA.
.
Combined with a host of outrageous new contraptions launched from the jacked-up, bigger than ever Nitro Gigant-A-Ramp, this is truly a visual experience never seen before.

To top it all off, for its latest event Nitro is going really retro, with the entire performance choreographed and styled as a 1920’s three-ring circus featuring elephants, bears, clowns, trapeze artists, flame throwers, lion tamers and much more. Painstakingly developed over the past five years, this stunning new set and Nitro-composed soundtrack will transport you into the past, to an eerily haunting, abandoned, derelict Big Top. With mind-blowing new lighting and an explosive pyrotechnic display, the new theme provides the perfect backdrop for the most spectacular show in Nitro’s history. “Believe us when we say, you have never seen a circus like this before,” says Pastrana.

Pre-sale tickets for the U.S. shows are available now, with tickets going on sale to the general public on Friday, May 15. In Canada, the Nitro pre-sale begins one week later on Monday, May 18 with the public on sale to follow on Friday, May 22. To sign up for the Nitro pre-sale to http://nitrocircus.com/tour/.

Fans looking for the ultimate Nitro Circus experience will want to get their hands on the all-new Nitro Club VIP package. About Nitro Circus
Nitro Circus continues to position itself as the leading youth action sports & entertainment brand on the planet. From humble beginnings, with Jeremy Rawle, Gregg Godfrey and extreme sports superstar Travis Pastrana producing DVDs from a Utah garage in 2003, to a smash TV series which has aired in over 60 countries, Nitro Circus has exploded to global popularity, leaving a burning impression on the minds of young people across the planet. Nitro Circus: The Movie, featuring cast members from the MTV series, was released in 2012 in cinemas worldwide.

Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Set To Kickoff 2015 Season With Deep Field Of Teams

Red Bull KTM and Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha Enter as Defending Champions
—PRESS RELEASE—

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 7, 2015) – The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will kick off the 2015 season in just a matter of days from Prairie City SVRA in Sacramento, California, for the GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic on Saturday, May 16. Headlining the field of teams set to compete over the course of 12 rounds for the respective 450 Class and 250 Class titles are defending champions Red Bull KTM (450 Class) and Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha (250 Class).

Spearheading the title defense for Red Bull KTM in the 450 Class is Ryan Dungey, a two-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion and the newly crowned Monster Energy Supercross Champion. Several other past title-winning teams will also fill the field. Monster Energy Kawasaki has won two of the last four 450 Class titles and will be led by Wil Hahn, embarking on his first full season of premier class competition. Team Yoshimura Suzuki won its last title with Dungey back in 2010, and will have rookie Blake Baggett, a former 250 Class Champion, at the helm. Team Honda HRC hasn’t won a Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship since 2004, but it will look to end that 10-season interval with rookie Cole Seely and GEICO Honda rider Eli Tomac, a title contender in his sophomore season. Former 250 Class Champion Trey Canard hopes to potentially be ready as well coming off a broken arm suffered late in the supercross season.

Several other potent teams will push to earn their first championship. RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing will look to rise to the forefront of the series with reigning 450 Class Champion Ken Roczen leading the way. Autotrader.com/Toyota/Yamaha will rely on Justin Barcia, Weston Peick and Phil Nicoletti in its hopes for a first championship for JGRMX, while former champion Chad Reed will continue his historic career with his own Discount Tire Racing/TwoTwo Motorsports, which added Josh Grant for the 2015 season. BTOsports.com KTM will enter 2015 with Justin Brayton under the tent, while veteran Andrew Short recovers from an injury suffered in supercross.

A new factory effort will join the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship as Husqvarna makes its anticipated return to competition for the first time since 2002. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing will be in search of the manufacturer’s first title with rookie Jason Anderson and Frenchman Christophe Pourcel, a former world champion who was signed to the team mere days ago. Other teams like CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha, The FLY Racing Privateer Journey and the new Motosport.com/GPI/Honda squad will also field multiple riders to line up on the 450 Class gate.

In the 250 Class, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha will be in search of back-to-back titles with reigning champion Jeremy Martin and newly crowned West Region 250SX Class Champion Cooper Webb being flanked by sophomore rider Anthony Rodriguez and rookie Aaron Plessinger. The two winningest teams of the past decade, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki and GEICO Honda, will both field formidable lineups as well. Pro Circuit hopes Adam Cianciarulo can come back strong after missing both the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season and this past supercross campaign with two separate injuries. The team will also feature Joey Savatgy, Chris Alldredge and hopefully Swiss rider Arnaud Tonus, who is recovering from an illness. GEICO Honda will be led by its veteran Justin Bogle as well as Matt Bisceglia, RJ Hampshire and rookie Jordon Smith.

Red Bull KTM has yet to win a 250 Class title, although Grant Langston gave the manufacturer a 125cc title back in 2003, and it will rely on newly crowned East Region 250SX Class Champion Marvin Musquin and Justin Hill to accomplish that. Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM now has the factory support of the Austrian brand as well, featuring a trio of riders in Jessy Nelson, Shane McElrath and veteran Darryn Durham. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing will also pilot a 250 Class effort with veteran Martin Davalos, Zach Osborne and Zach Bell.

CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha hopes to be formidable with its budding tandem of Alex Martin and Luke Renzland, while KTM Orange Brigade will look to ascend the ranks of the division with Dakota Alix. Motosport.com/GPI/Honda will field a 250 Class team as well, featuring veteran Tommy Hahn and Kyle Peters.

Other teams contending the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship include AG Motorsports/Gurrnaid Racing, Team Tedder/Monster Energy Kawasaki, ARMA Energy/Motosport.com Yamaha, JAB Motorsports, Barn Pros Racing/Home Depot/Yamaha, Traders Racing, K1 Speed/BWR Engines Honda, Blue Buffalo/Slater Skins Yamaha, Strikt Slaton Yamaha, Team Gus, 51Fifty Energy Drink Yamaha, Team RSR Racing, CGS Race Team, Creson Racing, Team 3BR and more.

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship begins on May 16 with the Hangtown Motocross Classic near Sacramento, California. Tickets for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship are available at www.ProMotocross.com.

Courtesy of Cycle Trader/Rock River Yamaha

May 5, 2015 – Johnson Creek, WI: CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha is excited to announce the addition of Kellian “Killy” Rusk to the team for the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series. The Colorado native will compete in the 450 MX Class beside 250 MX teammates Alex Martin and Luke Renzland, while both Josh Hill and Gregory Gehrer remain sidelined with injuries. 2014 was Rusk’s first year racing the full Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross series in the 450 MX Class and he finished 19th Overall. He additionally won the Ricky Carmichael Hard Charger Award at the Indiana National and turned heads all summer with his consistent performances.

“The addition of Kellian to the team has been really exciting for us. We really wanted to give someone an opportunity to concentrate on their riding and let us do the rest. To us, it wasn’t about having the biggest name under the canopy, but about finding someone that fits the team best; and Killy just seemed to be that guy. The philosophy has worked in the past; I look at what Alex Martin has been able to do since joining us back in 2013. The possibilities are endless, and we’ll see come May 16th at Hangtown.” – Christina Denney, CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha Team Manager.

I‘m extremely grateful for the opportunity everyone at CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha is giving me. I’m really excited and ready to get the best finishes of my career this outdoor season.” – Killy Rusk

The entire team is proud to add such a hardworking rider to the roster and looks forward to the start of the season at Hangtown MX in Sacramento, California on May 16th.

MotoConcepts: Smartop MotoConcepts Announces 2015 Outdoor Plans

Courtesy of MotoConcepts

SPOKANE, WA (April 15, 2015) – Smartop MotoConcepts Racing confirms they are taking their race efforts overseas for part of the 2015 MXGP series.

MCR has chosen to forego the traditional outdoor single series approach according to team owner Mike Genova. "We're focusing on the core objective of motorsport racing - promoting our team and sponsor products while continuing to build the Smartop and MotoConcepts brand.”  Instead of chasing points in a given series, we’ve chosen to use multiple series to market to a worldwide audience via the MXGP, CMRC and USA Outdoor Nationals.”

Mike Alessi will be leading the MCR team following a hard crash at the Daytona Supercross where he broke a vertebra in his back.  “I’m excited for this summer’s MCR program and look forward to racing in different countries, on different tracks and against different riders.  Bringing our own support crew and MCR 450 bikes overseas will be a big advantage that will allow me to focus on racing only.”

MCR’s first MXGP race will be Great Britain’s Matterly Basin on May 23-24, which will be followed by France’s Villars sous Ecot, May 30-31.

MCR’s second rider, Vince Friese, will compete in the first two rounds of the U.S. Nationals aboard a MCR 450 and reunite with the team upon their return to North America.

As the outdoor season progresses, MCR will announce the races in which they will participate.

Vicki Golden Makes History at Las Vegas Finale in Becoming First Female in History to Qualify for Monster Energy Supercross

LAS VEGAS (May 2, 2015) – HRT Racing’s Vicki Golden made history this afternoon by becoming the first female in more than four decades of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, to qualify for the “Fast 40″ – the riders that transition to the night program from timed qualifying – for tonight’s 2015 finale at Sam Boyd Stadium and the 250SX Class’ Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout.

Golden, who made her Eastern Regional 250SX Class debut on February 14 at Arlington, Texas’ AT&T Stadium, qualified 35th out of 42 riders. Her latest groundbreaking achievement is part of a series of firsts for the sport, which also includes becoming the first female in history to complete Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross in AMSOIL Arenacross last season, earning her 250SX Class license to attempt to qualify for a Monster Energy Supercross race. In 2011, Golden became the first female to qualify for an AMSOIL Arenacross Lites Class Main Event and she will attempt to make history yet again tonight by trying to transfer her way into the 22-rider 250SX Class Main Event.
“This is all so surreal right now,” exclaimed Golden. “Last week after East Rutherford I thought it was over. I didn’t expect to come here to Vegas and we learned a few days ago that we had the opportunity, so I figured let’s go out there and give it one last shot. It’s been a rough season and about everything that could go wrong has.

“I recently learned I’ve been battling mono since November and it’s taken about everything I have just to put in one fast lap. I’ve felt so tired and I haven’t been doing any riding during the week. I’ve just showed up and raced, but this week I put in a little riding once we learned we’d be coming to Vegas and everything worked out. I’ve accomplished the goal I set out to achieve this season, so now I want to just put in a couple solid laps tonight and finish the year healthy.”

Since its inception, the sport has been male dominated, but in recent years a tremendous surge of highly talented women has opened new doors for the growing female demographic to make its presence felt. Golden has been at the forefront of breaking new ground for the sport since she embarked on a full-fledged effort to compete alongside men in AMSOIL Arenacross during the 2011 season. Over the four years of her journey, she has helped pave the path for women attempting to compete in AMSOIL Arenacross and Monster Energy Supercross.

As a result of her determination, Golden has progressed into becoming one of the most dynamic and compelling figures in all of off-road motorcycle racing, culminating with her 250SX Class endorsement last March at the penultimate AMSOIL Arenacross round in Hidalgo, Texas.
Golden’s efforts are supported by the following sponsors: HRT Racing, ACM, Elite Vehicle Brands, Bills Pipes, Just 1 Helmets, One Industries, Reel Cameras, Rekluse Clutches, HP Race Development, Motopro Graphics, RAD Wheels, Mika Metals, DT 1 Filters, Cycra Plastic, Works Connections, Streamline Brakes, Dunlop, SDG Seats and Maxima Oil.

FIM APPEAL DENIED FOR YOSHIMURA SUZUKI’S JAMES STEWART

Courtesy of Yoshimura Suzuki

Multi-Time Champion Now Looking to 2016 Return
CHINO, CA (April 28, 2015) – Yoshimura Suzuki learned Monday that the FIM appeal by James Stewart that might have allowed him to begin racing the upcoming 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship has been denied. Instead the suspension will remain in place until August 11, 2015. Stewart says he will now focus on his return to competition.

As they have through the entire process, Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing will continue to support Stewart and look forward to his return to competition.

Yoshimura Suzuki team manager Mike Webb said the appeal process has been frustrating and costly. There were several delays requested by the FIM throughout the appeal process.

“It was an incredibly frustrating process and disappointing decision, but we’ll have James on board with the team for 2016 and beyond and we look forward to his return. We have a few warm-up events later this year and then we’ll be back in full force for the 2016 Supercross season.”

Even though it’s been a trying time, not only for the delays, but also for not knowing the outcome of his appeal, Stewart said at least he can now look forward to putting this behind him and is looking forward to racing again.

“It’s extremely disappointing that my appeal was denied,” Stewart said. “But I’m glad this is over and now I can turn my full attention back to preparing for the few events I’ll be competition in this year and coming back strong for 2016.

“I thank Yoshimura Suzuki, my sponsors and all the fans who have given me a ton of support through all of this. The one thing this time off has done is made me realize how much I miss racing, so it’s going to be a great day for me when I get to see that gate drop again.”

Stewart plans to defend his Red Bull Straight Rhythm title later this year and is also slated to contest the Monster Energy Cup in October.
