BEL-RAY SPONSORED RACERS KEN ROCZEN AND JASON ANDERSON TAKE SECOND AND THIRD PLACE FOR 2016 AMA SUPERCROSS SEASON

FARMINGDALE, N.J. (May 10, 2016) – Bel-Ray sponsored racers, Ken Roczen of RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing and Jason Anderson of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing secured second and third place in 450SX overall rider points for the 2016 AMA Supercross season.

During the final race of the season in Las Vegas, Roczen was unable to defeat the downpour that took place during the main event. He started out strong, maneuvering his way from second into first. During the sixth lap, Roczen tucked the front end of his bike on a corner, which resulted in him being unable to finish the race due to mechanical issues.

Despite this, Roczen placed second place overall in 450SX rider point standings after an excellent season. Over the course of the 2016 season, Roczen secured two third place finishes, five runner-ups and five first place victories.

“I’m healthy and ready for the outdoor season,” said Roczen. “I’m super-happy with the 2016 Supercross season, especially with how consistent we were over the last third of the schedule. Me and the team are really looking forward to the 2016 Pro Motocross season.”

Jason Anderson secured runner-up spot in 450SX at the 17th round of the AMA Supercross season in Las Vegas, allowing him to claim third place overall in 450SX rider point standings for 2016. Anderson began the main event in second place before moving back into third. Despite the rain and muddy conditions, Anderson was able to regain his second place position to end the final race of the season on the podium.

“I was pretty comfortable out there,” said Anderson. “But the lappers made it really tough when I got around them. All in all it was a pretty good finish to my sophomore season.”

The season’s final race in Las Vegas also included the 250SX East-West shootout. Throughout the season, Bel-Ray’s sponsored riders in both regions have demonstrated their skills and prowess on the track. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider, Zach Osborne was the runner up in Las Vegas, securing himself fourth overall for 250SX West rider point standings for 2016.

Osborne was able to fight his way into the main event after a minor crash early on in the race due to the adverse track conditions. After finding his way into the holeshot he finished second for the event after starting in 11th place.

“Today had a great end result,” said Osborne. “I was third-fastest in practice before the rain came. The night show started pretty rough. I crashed in the first turn in the heat race. I came from 17th to second – six seconds out of the win. I’m pretty happy with how it went and I feel like I rode well.”

Bel-Ray’s family of sponsored riders achieved the following results for the 2016 AMA Supercross season:

BAGGETT & YOSHIMURA SUZUKI MATCH BEST SX FINISH

Courtesy of Team Suzuki Press Office

Blake Baggett overcame incredibly unusual and challenging conditions in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season finale at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday.

A crowd of 36,714 fans braved a day and night filled with heavy rains and witnessed Baggett race his Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 to a strong fifth-place. The finish matched his best result of the year in the series and gave a boost to Baggett and the team as they prepare for the upcoming Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, which kicks off on May 21st in Sacramento, California, where Baggett is slated to be re-joined at Hangtown on the track by team-mate James Stewart.

Baggett kicked-off the day 11th in qualifying, but conditions were about to change dramatically: A couple of storms passed over the stadium, which not only included heavy rains and flash flooding, but also hail.

The Sam Boyd Stadium track turned to a mud bog, but Baggett didn’t let the conditions hamper him as he used the broad powerband of his Suzuki RM-Z450 to plough-through the deep mud and score victory in his semi to put him into the Main Event.

In the Main, Baggett got slightly hung-up in the gate at the start putting him well back in the pack. Yet, in spite of having to deal with fighting through the field getting mud-splattered the entire way, he made his way towards the front. He ran a steady and sure pace through some of the most difficult conditions of the season, which caused numerous riders to fall. In the end he crossed the line in fifth, matching his best finish of the series.

“It was a mudder, not the normal Vegas,” said Baggett. “It started out normal Vegas - dusty and hard-packed. Then the rain came down, stopped and then came down again. I got a terrible start, I mean like fourth from last to the first turn. Then I just dug deep and tried to keep it on two wheels. I made a few mistakes when I got behind some lappers who made some bad mistakes in the mud. I was able to get up to fourth place before Reed got me. I made a last-ditch effort on the last lap and was able to get back by him, but he just shoved it right in on me because he doubled a triple and there was nowhere for me to go, so fifth it is.”

The Yoshimura Suzuki squad now turns its attention to the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, which begins with the historic Hangtown Classic near Sacramento on Saturday, May 21 and continues with a total of 12 rounds during the summer, concluding with the Ironman National in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on August 27th.

2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Honors 50 Years of Motocross in AmericaOpening Round of the Championship Set for Hangtown Classic on May 21
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (May 9, 2016) - Just two weeks remain until the gate drops on the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, as the legendary GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic will serve as the setting for the opening round of the 12-race season on Saturday, May 21. This highly anticipated season, in which Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey and Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha's Jeremy Martin look to defend their respective 450 Class and 250 Class titles, will be commemorated by the celebration of 50 years of American motocross.

Tickets to all 12 rounds of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship are on sale now at the official series website, www.ProMotocross.com.
The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship's celebration of 50 years of American motocross will be symbolized by a traveling "50" sculpture. This one-of-a-kind monument is filled with artwork from the numerous championship programs of the Nationals, ticket stubs, Hi-Flyer trading cards, and other mementos that pay homage to the sport's illustrious history. Fans attending any round of the championship this summer will have an opportunity to check out the sculpture in person at the sponsor village of the paddock.

Back in 1966, a visionary promoter by the name of Edison Dye recognized the growing popularity of motocross overseas and subsequently helped facilitate a bold move that would go on to change the course of history for the sport in America. Dye helped bring Husqvarna rider Torsten Hallman to the United States, making him the first professional European rider to compete in America. The Swedish rider's influence was felt almost immediately and soon enough more and more Europeans followed Hallman's footsteps overseas, with many of them ultimately becoming incredibly influential legends of the sport's early era. AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame members like Joel Robert and Roger DeCoster propelled the sport's popularity and professionalism in America thanks to their exceptional talent and captivating personalities.

In the 50 years since Dye's groundbreaking initiative and Hallman's pioneering journey to the U.S., the sport of motocross has evolved into the spectacle that it is today, as one of the most compelling and physically demanding athletic competitions on the planet. The United States is now the premier destination for motocross, with its most celebrated championships. The various disciplines and racing series that encompass the world of motocross can now be seen live on televisions, tablets, and cell phones across the globe, with hundreds of thousands of fans all over the world captivated by the action unfolding on the racetrack. Motocross has ultimately always held on to its renegade, rule-bending roots, and as a result it maintains a thrilling and daring perception that keeps fans yearning for more while continuing to elevate on a global level, with world-class athletes from all over the world coming to America for a chance at chasing their dreams.

In 1971, Bruce Brown's iconic documentary On Any Sunday helped put a spotlight on America's best kept secret in sports, and just one year later the Ohio-based American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) introduced a stand-alone national championship series, now known today at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Now in its 44th season, the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is the world's most prestigious motocross racing series, featuring the most iconic racetracks and events on the planet. In fact, both the Hangtown Motocross Classic and the Unadilla National were a part of the inaugural season of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in 1972 and remain foundational stops of the summer schedule more than four decades later, continuing to build on the legacy that first began in 1966.

In 2009, MX Sports Pro Racing secured the promotional and operational rights of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, and that same season they introduced perennial championship trophies for both the 450 Class and 250 Class - the Edison Dye Cup (450 Class) and Gary Jones Cup (250 Class) - which were created to honor the entrepreneurial vision of Edison Dye that brought the sport to America as well as the first ever national champion crowned in a formal U.S. motocross championship.

Since assuming the managerial responsibilities of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, MX Sports Pro Racing has proudly taken on the role of being purveyors of the championship's history. As a result, the annual Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Media Guide has provided a dedicated resource to record the history of the championship since it began in 1972. Within these pages one can find virtually every major statistical category and history of winners for all 43 seasons of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Additionally, rider bios for both the 450 Class and 250 Class are included along with a snapshot of the tracks hosting the 12 rounds of the 2016 championship.
