The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory
Racing Team put in work at the 12th round of the AMA Supercross series,
held at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Jason Anderson rode a hard race
to finish sixth and Dean Wilson stayed consistent with a ninth-place
finish in the 450 class, while teammate Zach Osborne overcame a pileup
at the start of the 250SX East main to finish 18th.
Jason Anderson got a mid-pack start in
his heat and moved up to seventh by the end of the first lap. He
executed an impressive pass with 2.5 minutes to go and moved into sixth,
then made a late race charge to finish fourth and qualify for the main.
He got a top-10 start in the main and navigated into fourth before
going down and coming out in 11th. He started moving through the pack
and came back strong to finish sixth. He is currently fifth overall in
450 rider point standings.
“My day was ok,” said Anderson. “The
night started out decent. I got a good start, but then fell, but I came
back strong to finish sixth. I’m going to put in some work this week and
focus on the next week’s race in St. Louis."
Dean Wilson got third at the start of his
heat and immediately started charging. After swapping spots in the top
four in the first lap he settled into third and continued to fight
before eventually finishing fifth, forcing him to earn his transfer
position through the 450 semi. He was third at the start of the semi and
held on to earn third and qualify for the main. He got a mid-pack start
in the main and rode strong in eighth before finishing the night in
ninth. He is currently 10th overall in 450 rider point standings.
“I was top five in qualifying, so
that was good,” said Wilson. “I got a good start in my heat race, which I
was happy about. I was battling with Brayton, which slowed me down a
bit and caused me to lose some positions. I went into the semi and got
third and got into the main. I just barely saved the first corner pileup
in the main. I got hit really hard and I barely stayed on two wheels. I
made some quick passes then just stayed there and rode a steady and
consistent race. This is my third year in the class but it’s almost like
a rookie year since I’ve never done a full season . It’s good for me to
just keep racing the mains and get top-10 finishes. I’m just trying to
be better every weekend."
Zach Osborne got a mid-pack start in his
heat, started moving through the pack, then got caught up behind a
downed rider in the sand section. He quickly regrouped and started
giving chase before charging up to third for the finish. He lined up for
the main looking to extend his points lead, got a great start, but then
went down after getting caught in the middle of pileup. He remounted,
took a quick visit to the mechanic’s area, then charged back on the
track to salvage valuable championship points. He finished 18th, and is
currently third in 250 SX East rider point standings.
“It was a tough night,” said Osborne.
“I felt good all day and was felt great on the track. I got a really
good jump in my heat race, but just didn’t get around the first turn
very well. In the main I thought I would go a bit wider and then
absolutely crushed the start, but then someone came from the outside and
we went down and their footpeg went through my spokes so I had to do a
pit stop. I’m going to regroup and focus on next week’s race in St.
Louis."
The team will now make its way to The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, MO for the 13th round of the season.

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Jordon Smith Wins in the Motor City
Courtesy of Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM
DETROIT, MI – March 26, 2017 – Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Jordon Smith collected his first career win on Saturday night in front of more than 46,000 fans inside Ford Field. Smith’s teammate, Alex Martin did not lineup for the night program following a practice incident that would force him to the sidelines.

Having earned his spot in the main event through a win in the Last Chance Qualifier, Smith got off to a strong start, battling with the leaders from the drop of the gate. Following some intense racing up front he would move into the lead on Lap 14, relinquishing it temporarily before making an impressive move on the final lap to secure the victory.
“Today was pretty incredible,” said Smith. “Despite having to go through the LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier) I was able to get a good start in the main and race with the leaders early on. The track was really tough so I just focused on hitting my lines and was in the right position on the last lap to take the win. It’s an amazing feeling and I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!”

Following his win, Smith has moved into second place in the championship points standings just nine points out of the lead.
Next weekend, the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM team will be headed to The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis for Round 7 of the Eastern Regional Championship.

Smith and Martin wore the GP 50/50 Red Racewear during practice and then Smith wore the GP Quest Red and White Racewear en route to his main event win. The gear was accompanied by the SE4 Pinstripe Black helmet. See all of the 2017 gear sets and the 2017 Moto Helmets online and at your local TLD retailer.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Battle Through Challenging EnduroGP of Finland
Courtesy of Husqvarna Motorcycles
Pascal Rauchenecker:“I’m feeling great on my bike at the moment. I finished day one with a very positive third place, which I’m very happy with. Despite a steady start to the day I managed to find a good pace after a few tests and kept pushing until the last test. To start the season with such a good result is very positive. On day two I made a few costly mistakes, which stopped me doing as well as on day one. With a few small crashes during the day I had to settle for eighth in my class. With so many tests on each day and so many hours on the bike this GP was something completely different to what we’re all used to. I’m happy we showed my speed is there to battle for the podium but I’m also looking forward to returning to conditions I’m a little more familiar with.”

Christophe Charlier:“It was a tough weekend for all but overall I’m happy with how everything worked out. To be honest, I was really looking forward to my first EnduroGP, but with conditions being so difficult I did the best I could for two solid finishes. We knew conditions would be difficult so we were very well prepared with the team. I started day one very strong, putting in times inside the top five in the EnduroGP class. At the end of the day I got ninth and then ninth again on day two. The level of competition in the world championship is really high with all riders pushing hard until the end. We’ve made some good progress during the weekend and I feel that I learned a lot. We take one step at a time and now focus on the following GP in Spain.”

Danny McCanney:“Obviously, things didn’t quite go as I hoped they would this GP. Knowing it was going to be a long race I decided to start day one a bit cautiously. After a steady start I kept improving my pace and ended up winning the last few tests. It was a good confidence booster. I started day two really strong and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I had a small technical issue during the third test. That was the end of my day. We take the positives out of this GP and keep working hard. I’ve got a great feeling on my bike at the moment and I want to keep my speed going into the following round of the series in Spain.”

Frozen Conditions Ensure Tough World Championship Series Opener
March 26, 2017 – Pascal Rauchenecker has delivered the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna
Factory Racing team’s best result at the opening round of the FIM
EnduroGP World Championship, with the Enduro 2 class rider securing a
hard-fought third place result on day one of the GP of Finland. Until
recently focused on his participation in the SuperEnduro World
Championship, Pascal rode a near faultless opening day to stand
alongside Finns Eero Remes and Henric Stigell on the podium.
Delivering one of the best performances from a non-Scandinavian rider
in the specialist, winter conditions Pascal remained both fast and
consistent throughout the opening day. Posting the third fastest class
time on no fewer than seven special tests, the FE 250 mounted rider made
a hugely positive start to his second season of enduro competition. On
day two Pascal again recorded third place test finishes, wrapping-up the
GP of Finland with an eighth-place Enduro 2 class result.
Competing as the lone official Husqvarna representative in the
EnduroGP class due to team-mate Mathias Bellino’s withdrawal from the
event, Christophe Charlier’s first ever EnduroGP saw the former MXGP
racer well and truly in at the deep end. Faced with not only getting to
grips with a new style of racing, like others he also had to adapt to
the winter conditions.
Making a strong start to the opening day Christophe placed third in
class on the day’s fifth test before rounding out his first ever
EnduroGP competition with ninth in class. Battling his way through a
second tough day the Frenchman again placed ninth in class.
Like many, Danny McCanney opted for a cautious start to the opening
day, not wanting to get caught out by the unfamiliar, frozen conditions.
Knowing that the two-day event would be both long and hugely demanding
he placed inside the top 10 of the Enduro 2 class during the majority of
the day’s special tests. Finally feeling comfortable racing on spiked
tyres Danny upped his pace to post the fastest Enduro 2 class time in
the three closing special tests. Frustratingly, Danny’s participation in
the second day was cut short when a simple technical issue put him out
of the event.
Injuring himself prior to the GP of Finland, Matthias Bellino was
unable to compete in the opening round of the EnduroGP World
Championship. Damaging his shoulder during a pre-event training session,
Mathias will receive further medical assessment once back home in
France.
Demonstrating his speed in the frozen conditions, Husqvarna FE 350
mounted Finn Antti Hellsten came out on top winning the premier EnduroGP
class on both days of competition.
Round two of the 2017 EnduroGP series takes place in Puerto Lumbreras, Spain on April 21-23.

Sayles Wins to Regain Control of Western Regional AX Lites Class Point Standings

RENO, Nev. (March 25, 2017) - The third round of AMSOIL Arenacross' Race to the Ricky Carmichael Cup held its second consecutive night of action inside the Livestock Events Center on Saturday Night. Team TiLUBE/Jack's Links/TUF Racing Honda's Jace Owen rebounded in a big way by sweeping both Main Event wins to score his first victory since the start of the Race to the Ricky Carmichael Cup. In the Western Regional AX Lites Class, Woodstock KTM's Hunter Sayles battled through the field to claim the Main Event win and move back atop the championship standings.

Prior to the 250AX Class Main Events showdown, points were handed out in the RMATV/MC Head 2 Head Challenge. The final matchup proved to be a repeat of Friday night's action as Team Babbitt's/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki, presented by AP Designs, rider Faith went bar-to-bar with Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Yamaha, in association with Cycle Trader and Rock River, rider Chris Blose, leading from start to finish to capture his third straight Head 2 Head Challenge win and add an additional championship bonus point to his Race to the Ricky Carmichael Cup total.
In the first 250AX Class Main Event, Owen powered his Honda to the front of the field, just ahead of Team Babbitt's/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki, presented by AP Design, teammates Faith and Travis Sewell. The defending AMSOIL Arenacross Champion Faith quickly went to work and made the pass on Owen through the whoops on the opening lap. Blose was determined to keep the leaders within sight and muscled his way around Sewell for third on Lap 1, followed by Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Yamaha, in association with Cycle Trader and Rock River, rider Matt Goerke.
With Faith and Owen running a blistering pace out front, the battle for the remaining top five positions began to heat up as Team Babbitt's/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki, presented by AP Design, rider Gared Steinke overtook Goerke for fifth on Lap 2. The race leaders continued to pace each other lap-after-lap, with Owen slowly inching his way onto the rear fender of Faith. On Lap 8, Owen would take advantage of a bobble by Faith and regain control of the race lead. Just one lap later Steinke started nipping at the heels of his Team Babbitt's Kawasaki teammate Sewell and dove to the inside to make the pass.
Owen consistently clicked off fast laps while in the lead, extending his gap each lap and crossing the checkered flag 4.3 seconds ahead of Faith. Blose followed in third, while a last lap pass placed Sewell fourth and Steinke fifth.
Faith continued his recent streak of starting well by grabbing the holeshot in the second Main Event, narrowly edging out Owen and Blose. Faith instantly went to work in an attempt to break away from the field, however, Owen refused to let him slip away and latched onto the leaders rear wheel. Woodstock KTM's Daniel Herrlein slid into fourth on Lap 2 with an aggressive pass on Sewell.
Similar to the first Main Event, Owen began to close the gap near the halfway point of the race and was searching for a way past Faith. On Lap 7, Owen got the drive down the rhythm section and snuck past in the following turn. He demonstrated incredible speed while out front and opened a comfortable lead over his nearest competitor.
Owen held a 4.7 second margin of victory over Faith as he crossed the checkered flag for a clean sweep on the evening. Blose finished strong in third, with Herrlein fourth and Steinke fifth.
Points leader Faith backed up his win on Friday with a runner-up effort.

It was an impressive performance by Owen who put a stop to Faith's win streak and rebounded for his first victory in the Race to the Ricky Carmichael Cup. Faith scored valuable points with a runner-up effort (2-2), while Blose stood atop the final podium step in third (3-3). Herrlein was fourth (6-4), just ahead of Steinke (5-5).
Following back-to-back victories, Faith entered the night eight points ahead of Owen in the Ricky Carmichael Cup standings, but now controls the points by just seven points following Owen's win. Blose sits in third, 11-points out of the championship lead.
Blose rounded out the overall podium in third.

The 12-lap Western Regional AX Lites Class Main Event saw Breece jump out to the early lead with the holeshot over Woodstock KTM's Hunter Sayles and Team DirtBikeMike's Hunter Hilton. Sayles successfully completed a brave pass attempt on Lap 1 that moved him past Breece and into the race lead. Sayles used every inch of the track as he meticulously navigated the track at the front, keeping night one winner Breece at bay.
An intense battle began to shape up for the final podium position between Hilton, DrivenMX Racing KTM's Jared Lesher and Yamaha rider Austin Walton. On Lap 7, Lesher took control of the final podium position by making the pass on Hilton.
Sayles maintained his lead by finishing strong and took the win 3.1 seconds ahead of Breece's hard-fought effort in second. Lesher rounded out the podium in third.
The win moved Sayles back atop the Western Regional Championship standings by a single point, just one night after sitting in a tie with Breece. Lesher continues to hold onto third and is now seven points out of the lead.
The fourth round of the Race to the Ricky Carmichael Cup continues next Saturday, April 1st at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET.
Sayles regained control of the Western Regional Championship.
