HAAKER TO MISS THE REMAINDER OF ENDUROCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING RIDER WILL TAKE TIME TO PROPERLY RECOVER FROM RECENT SURGERY
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Colton Haaker will be forced to sit out the final three rounds of the AMA EnduroCross Championship and will thus relinquish his fight to successfully defend his title in the US.

Enjoying a solid season of competition in the US, Haaker won the opening round of the 2017 AMA EnduroCross series in Las Vegas and then went on to claim top three results in the following three rounds of the series.

Due to an injury sustained at the beginning of the EnduroCross season, Haaker has already undergone minor surgery to remove the Bursa Sac in his elbow and clean up the remainder of an existing staph infection.

While doctors are currently unsure of the recovery time needed, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider is already looking to be back in time to defend his FIM SuperEnduro World Championship title. The 2018 SuperEnduro series kicks off in Poland on December 9, 2017.

NICKY HAYDEN’S CUSTOM SPECIALIZED BICYCLE TO BE RAFFLED TO SUPPORT THE NICKY HAYDEN MEMORIAL FUND

Courtesy of Road2Recovery

Encinitas, Calif. October 24th, 2017- Nicky Hayden, AKA “The Kentucky Kid”, was an American Icon with many professional motorcycle racing accolades; most notably the Moto GP World Championship title – won on American soil – in 2006. He began his road-racing career at a young
age in the CMRA series before progressing to the AMA Supersport Championship, and then on to the AMA Superbike Championship. He won the AMA title in 2002 and was approached by the Repsol Honda team to race for them in Moto GP, where he continued to push the limits of
the sport and his achievements. Hayden inspired millions with his natural talents on a bike and his easygoing smile.

The motorcycle community was rocked on May 17, 2017, when news broke of Nicky Hayden’s tragic passing as a result of a collision with a motorist while training on his bicycle in Italy. The loss of such a bright star has affected so many. Nicky was so much more than a racer; he was a son, a brother, a fiancĂ©, a friend, and a role model to many. Wanting to keep his memory alive and continue to spread the positive messages that were important to Nicky, his family has started the Nicky Hayden Memorial Fund. Nicky loved where he came from, loved to give back, and cared deeply about supporting children. The fund was set up in order to help local children in the community he loved so much. You can support the fund by making a donation here.

Specialized was in the process of creating a custom S-Works Venge ViAS road bicycle for Nicky Hayden at the time of the accident. Bicycles riding is an essential part of most professional motorcycle athletes’ training programs and Nicky was an extremely avid cyclist. The component
spec on this bike features the absolute best for the true champion that Nicky was, including the brand-new Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 R9170 electronic drivetrain with hydraulic disc brakes, Roval CLX 50 Limited Edition carbon fiber wheels with gold outline graphics, Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS Special Edition Peter Sagan World Champion Frameset, and every other bell and whistle you would expect to find on an S-Works, Tour de France-level pro road bike. This bike is valued at approximately $10,000 USD.

The Hayden family wanted Nicky’s bicycle to be shared with the world and would love for it to end up with one of Nicky’s fans. They decided a fundraiser to benefit the Nicky Hayden Memorial Fund would be a great way to accomplish this. The Hayden family has teamed up with Specialized, Shimano and The Road 2 Recovery Foundation to offer a truly one-of-a-kind bicycle for raffle, with 100% of proceeds going to The Nicky Hayden Memorial Fund.

To participate, go to nickyhaydenmemorialraffle.com and with a minimum donation of $5 for a ticket, you can get enter for a chance to win. This two-month long raffle is open worldwide with free shipping to the winner courtesy of Specialized.

The raffle closes on December 29th, 2017. The winner will be pulled and announced on Saturday, January 6th, 2018 on Road 2 Recovery’s Facebook and Instagram live stream @Road2Recovery.
This one-of-a-kind Venge ViAS was designed specifically to fit Nicky Hayden and meet his training needs; however, some parts can potentially be modified to suit riders ranging in height from approximately 5’6” to nearly 6’ tall. The Venge ViAS is a high-performance racing bicycle with
servicing required by a mechanic who has undergone specified training protocols. Any desired fit adjustments should be performed by an authorized Specialized retailer, and any associated expenses are the responsibility of the raffle winner.

JOSEP GARCIA & KTM WIN 2017 ENDURO2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

Courtesy of KTM

KTM Enduro Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia has won the 2017 FIM Enduro2 World Championship. Battling his way through a challenging final round of the series in Zschopau, Germany, a second-place finish on day one and a fifth-place result on day two was more than enough for the talented Spaniard to secure the coveted E2 title adding to a long line of Enduro World Championship wins for the Austrian manufacturer.

Josep Garcia put in a worthy championship winning performance during the eighth and final round of the FIM Enduro World Championship to secure the title in only his first season in the senior ranks. The KTM 250 EXC-F mounted rider carried a healthy, 13-point championship advantage into the event, which he further extended before wrapping up the E2 title. A crash on Friday night’s Super Test put Garcia on the back foot, but the young Spaniard held his composure and claimed the runner-up position at the end of day one.

With a 15-point lead going into the second and final day, all Garcia needed to do was secure a handful of points and not make any mistakes. He did exactly that and in placing a solid fifth claimed his first ever world championship title with six wins throughout the season. The 20-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding year, as he also captured a second consecutive E1 class overall win at the International Six Days Enduro that was held in France in early September. Last year’s runner up in E2, Nathan Watson, suffered a tough final round of the EWC series, but was able to secure an impressive third position in the EnduroGP championship aboard his KTM 350 EXC-F.

Josep Garcia: “I can’t describe how this feels right now. I want to thank all my team for believing in me this year. It has been my first year in the senior class of the world championship and the racing has been so close all year. To get to the end of the season and win the title is unbelievable. This weekend has gone very well. The conditions have been tough, especially on day two, but I have enjoyed the event and I did what I had to do. It feels amazing to be world champion. Thanks again to everyone that has supported me. Now I just want to take it all in and enjoy the moment.”

Fabio Farioli (KTM Enduro Factory Racing Team Manager): “It’s a really great feeling to see Josep achieve this championship. First of all, from my side he is still young and I was pushing quite a lot to get him into the senior class, as he was not convinced he was ready, but it was definitely the right decision that we made together. He is a really talented rider and he was always pushing, but even when the races were not so good he was reacting well. He has a strong character with a good mindset and this is important to achieve success in Enduro. If he crashed early in a weekend he would slowly take back the time and he’s a real fighter, which has really paid off for this final result. He has a great following, and a positive attitude, which is incredibly important as part of our team – he really is a new era of rider and there is something special with him. His father told me he wanted to be a world champion on a motorcycle since being around five years old and he has finally achieved his dream; it will be fantastic to see how he can grow in the future. Enduro is such a core part of KTM – since the beginning of KTM’s involvement with racing we’ve enjoyed a lot of success thanks to our strong team, talented riders, and of course everyone involved from Research and Development, to Motorsport who work hard with us to achieve these goals.”

PAYSON, UT (October 19, 2017) – Rocky Mountain ATV/MC will continue its sponsorship of the prestigious Thor Winter Olympics (often referred to as the “Mini O’s”). This will mark the fourth year of Rocky Mountain ATV/MC’s partnership with Unlimited Sports MX to help sponsor the event. As in previous years, one of the key components of this sponsorship includes providing a $20 gift card to each racer.

Now in its 46th year, the Mini O’s is one of the primary amateur motocross events during the year. Its emphasis on both MX-style and SX-style tracks gives it a unique spot in the amateur circuit. Taking place over an entire week, the event has become a longstanding Thanksgiving tradition among MX families. The Mini O’s will continue to be hosted at the Gatorback Cycle Park – the same venue that has hosted the event since its inception in 1971.

Each racer who pre-registers in at least one class will receive one $20 gift card for the event. This is provided through Rocky Mountain ATV/MC’s Race Gas program, which provides no-strings-attached gift cards that can be used for any product on the RockyMountainATVMC.com website.

“With the Thor Winter Olympics approaching once more, it’s great to know we have the support of sponsors like Rocky Mountain ATV/MC,” said Wyn Kern of Unlimited Sports MX. “Their commitment helps us make the Mini O’s the best it can be, and their Race Gas program is a great way to give back to the riders themselves.”

“We’re excited to sponsor the Thor Winter Olympics again,” said Dan Thomas, CEO and Founder of Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. “This is a great opportunity for us to support the sport in an important way and in a manner that can impact each individual racer. We wish every rider the best of luck as they compete.”

The full field will encompass 27 riders, split into three classes: the Two-stroke Shootout, the Lites Class (250cc and below) and the Open Class (greater than 250cc). The event will air live on Red Bull TV.

An evolution of the sport of Supercross, Red Bull Straight Rhythm features head-to-head racing on a 1⁄2 mile rhythm track with no turns. Red Bull Straight Rhythm debuted in 2014 at the Auto Club Raceway at Fairplex in Pomona and saw James Stewart win in the Open Class, with Marvin Musquin taking home the top spot in the Lites Class. In 2015, James Stewart defended his title, once again landing on the top of the podium in the Open Class, with his brother Malcolm taking first place in the Lites Class. Last year, Marvin Musquin returned to the event and dominated the Open Class, with Shane McElrath taking the win in the Lites Class. Straight Rhythm takes place as part of the Red Bull Signature Series, a collection of the most progressive and innovative events in action sports.
Each single-day ticket gives access to practice, qualifying, and the finals. KTM UNVEILS NEW FREERIDE E-XC AND ANNOUNCES FUTURE E-MOBILITY PLANS

Courtesy of KTM

KTM unveiled its second-generation FREERIDE E-XC model year 2018 at the Red Bull Hangar-7 in Salzburg, Austria and presented its future plan for the e-mobility segment.

The powerful and agile KTM FREERIDE E-XC is now even better. Powered by a state-of-the-art electric motor with a peak of 18 kW fitted into a re-designed composite frame that provides even better stability, this e-machine now benefits from a 50 % capacity increase in its new KTM PowerPack, which offers up to one and a half hours of riding time with just one battery charge. The new KTM FREERIDE E-XC now also utilizes energy recuperation when coasting or braking for an additional range boost, and the battery has a quick charging time, while also providing 70 % of its initial capacity after 700 charge cycles. In addition, this lightweight bike boasts a new WP Xplor 43 upside-down fork system with enhanced sensitivity, and a new WP PDS Xplor shock absorber with improved progression and adjustment options.

The KTM FREERIDE E-XC features three riding modes: Economy, Enduro and Cross. Its easy operation, with no clutch or gear shift lever, and a confidence inspiring low seat height of just over 900 mm, combined with its extreme cross-country agility, ensures that this is the ultimate electrically powered machine for beginners to experienced level riders. Stylish new bodywork with racy graphics, trim and colors, a new dashboard and re-positioned ignition lock provide further benefits over the previous model. Complying with the A1 driving requirements, and producing zero local emissions with minimal noise pollution, the possibilities are endless with the ultra-playful KTM FREERIDE E-XC.

Not only does the KTM FREERIDE E-XC offer major environmental advantages, the cost of running this playful bike is vastly reduced over an equivalent combustion motorcycle. To fully charge the KTM PowerPack for the KTM FREERIDE E-XC the cost is less than EUR0.8 (20 Cent/kW x 3,9 kW) and when compared to the KTM FREERIDE 250 F, for 1.5 hours of riding the cost in fuel would be approximately four or five times more.

This latest e-powered machine is part of KTM’s long-term commitment to e-mobility, which began over 10 years ago in KTM’s research and development department in Mattighofen, Austria. The Austrian brand plans a range of machines for the future including e-mini, and an e-scooter, as well as maximizing its partnership with PEXCO with a new possibility to produce crossover products in the bicycle sector. The vision is clear, and by 2025 KTM will increase emphasis on machines from 250 watt to 11kWh due to market suitability and efficiency.

Stefan Pierer (KTM CEO): “We are proud to present the new KTM FREERIDE E-XC, which marks the next step in development of e-mobility within KTM and is a continuation of our commitment to this segment. We know that e-mobility will change the landscape of travel in the future, and our vision is very clear. Looking ahead to 2025 we expect to have a wider range of models available with a focus in the commuting arena. We also plan crossover machines with our collaboration with PEXCO, as well as using our e-mobility expertise in other applications.”

The new KTM FREERIDE E-XC will arrive in dealers in certain markets at the beginning of next year, and for more information please visit www.ktmfreeride-e.com.

JIMMY DECOTIS SIGNS WITH JGR SUZUKI FOR 2018 SUPERCROSS SEASON

Courtesy of JGR Suzuki

The Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing Team is pleased to announce an agreement with Jimmy Decotis for the 2018 Supercross season. The deal includes the potential to also contest the 250 motocross series.
Jimmy Decotis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. The nine-year veteran enjoyed his most successful indoor season in 2017. Jimmy finished inside the top ten at every round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250 Western regional series. Speed and consistency earned the likable 26-year-old a fifth-place finish in the final standings. Grit and determination aptly describe Decotis, who is elated to join the Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing Team.
“I heard that Suzuki was making a big push with their 250 program. I immediately went to JGRMX and met with the team. Believe it or not, the first free sponsored bike I ever got was a Suzuki RM-Z250 when I was an amateur. John Dowd helped me get my foot in the door. I still think about the day the truck showed up with a free RM-Z250 in it. My dad and I were freaking out! I really liked the brand and did well, which is why I wanted to get back on yellow. I figured it was a good idea to visit with the team and throw my hat in the ring,” stated Jimmy Decotis.
The Peabody, Mass. native continued, “I signed with JGRMX because they believe in me. I really like the team and the atmosphere. It’s a very good fit. There are a lot of positives, and I feel that I can be the guy to get Suzuki up front. This is where I belong.”
Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing team manager Jeremy Albrecht is elated to have Jimmy Decotis on the 2018 Suzuki RM-Z250. “I have known Jimmy for a while and always kept my eye on him. Now that we’ve reached a partnership with Suzuki Motor Corporation of America, Inc., we have the ability to field a full factory effort. Decotis was on my wish list. He strikes me as a consummate professional who knows what it takes to succeed. It goes without saying that Jimmy has the talent to perform at the highest level. I’m excited to begin working with Jimmy.”
Expect a complete Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory 250 Racing Team breakdown, including which coast Jimmy Decotis will contest, in the coming months. For more team news, please visit www.jgrmxraceteam.com.
