WIN BAJA 1000, CLASS 21 OVER ALL!!!
With the teaming of Shane Esposito and Steve Garnett, brought speed and constancy
to Wilson’s already solid team line up. Shane Esposito leaving the line in 22nd start position, handing the bike to Steve Garnett at mile mark 78 in 6th spot! Steve known for his solid riding and many class 30 wins with Jim O’Neal, took over and hunted down the Beta team of Cameron Corfman (Junes over all Baja 500 winner) over the infamous summit, moving the team to 5th over all, stretching the class 21 lead to 45 min at Borrego Junction. Team riders and Mexican connection Septien/Rojas split up the 200 plus miles of the brutal whooped out sand sections of San Felipe.
From there team riders Garnett/ Wilson split riding duties to Mike Blackman. Blackman taking on lights/Gas and Mikes Sky Ranch loop, aced his section and again handing the bike to Wilson were he took the bike to the coast where Brian Pernard was waiting. Brian not only rode the coast but handled the bike prep. duties on the 07 450x Honda. Esposito was waiting in the meadow at Ojos 40 miles out from the finish, Brian handed off to Esposito with a solid cushion. Esposito brought the bike in 5th over all, 15:43.08 Hrs. 42.81 MPH. 40 plus minutes ahead of the next class 21 bike of Bill Boyer.
