Bel-Ray Race Report-Oakland Supercross-

The 4th round of the Monster Energy Supercross series took place on Saturday night January 22nd in the Oakland Coliseum.

The Bel-Ray backed teams of Two Two Motorsports and Dodge/ Hart & Huntington Racing were both in attendance, looking to improve on their prior week’s performance.

Timed qualifying started off well on the technical track with Two Two Motorsports Chad Reed setting the 9th fastest time with a 46.314, followed by Dodge / Hart and Huntington teammates Ivan Tedesco in 14th with a 47.435 and Chris Blose in 15th with a 47.645.

After crashing hard in the whoops during timed qualifying, Tedesco was questionable for the evening program. The gritty veteran fought through the pain of an injured back in the first heat race to take 9th place and a spot on the gate for the evenings’ final. The second heat saw Reed take 2nd while Blose suffered a crash early and could only work up to 11th, just out of qualifying range. Blose would get his spot into the main event in the last chance qualifier. He grabbed the holeshot and led wire to wire for the victory and spot on the gate.

The main event began with Reed getting the good start he’s been looking for so far this season, while Blose and Tedesco were around midpack in this talented field.  Reed had the break out ride he’s been looking for this season and battled both Ryan Dungey and Ryan Villopoto throughout the main event, eventually settling into 3rd for much of the race. But he was not to be denied. Closing on Dungey in the final laps, Reed went for the last lap, last corner pass and made it stick, grabbing second place for the night.  Tedesco would soldier on to take 9th and Blose 10th at the end of the main event.

The season points standing now have Reed in 5th, Tedesco in 11th and Blose in 15th. Congratulations to all three riders on their outstanding performance this past weekend.

The series heads back south this weekend for round 5 in Anaheim, California.

Bel-Ray will be posting updates Saturday night from the upcoming Anaheim 2  round on their Twitter Feed and Facebook page as well as their website www.belray.com .
