Snow cross racer Doug Henry chases medal in Winter X Games

Henry, a three-time national champion in motocross who was paralyzed in a racing accident in 2007, captured a Bronze Medal at last year’s Winter X Games in the adaptive super cross snowmobile competition.

He will compete in the same event at the 2011 Winter X Games, which take place Jan. 27-30 in Aspen, Colo. The event will be televised on ESPN.

“I don’t think anything makes me feel as good as riding,” Henry says. “Since my injury, I’ve learned to focus on the things that I have, and not on the things that I no longer have. Through the X Games and the support of sponsors like Planet Fitness, I’m able to keep doing the things I love. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”

To prepare for the Games, Henry has been working out several times a week at a Planet Fitness gym near his Connecticut home.

About Planet Fitness
Planet Fitness consisted of four gyms in New Hampshire when it began franchising in 2003. Today the company has a national footprint – 400 locations in 40 states, more than 2.3 million members, and ad campaigns that air on national TV networks, as well as on the “Imus in the Morning” radio show and Fox Business Channel. The company recently created a free App that lets iPhone users turn their friends into “Lunks” and invite them to join the gym nearby via GPS, and even trigger a Lunk Alarm.® It can be downloaded here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lunkinator/id399857015?mt=8.
