The AMA National Motocross Series returned following a one week break. TwoTwo Motorsports / Bel-Ray Racing’s Chad Reed retained his top position in the points standings following 5-1 moto finishes for 3rd overall on Sunday. Reed has now won 4 out of 6 motos run so far this season and holds a 15 point lead heading into Maryland this weekend. Bel-Ray Elite racers Lowell Spangler (30th overall) and Ronnie Stewart (40th overall) both made the 40-man gate in the 450 Class while Steve Roman (33rd overall) made the 40-man gate in the 250 class. The series continues this weekend in Mechanicsville, Maryland for the Moto Tees Budd’s Creek National.
The Air Asia British Grand Prix took place at the famous Silverstone Grand Prix under less than ideal conditions with cold weather and rain taking place during the event. Coming from a 28th place grid position, Smith cut through the pack to score his first ever Moto2 podium with a 2nd place. The finish was even more special because it came in front of his hometown fans. However, he poor weather conditions didn’t appeal to teammate Mike DiMeglio, as he could only manage a 17th place finish.
Round 2 of the CMRC National Championship series took  place in Naimo, British Columbia, Canada this past weekend and the the Kini / Red Bull / KTM / IMX / Bel-Ray Racing team of Mason Phillips and Kieran put on another strong showing. Phillips was 4th overall in the MX1 class with 9-4 moto finishes, while teammate Kieran Leigh was 9th overall in the MX2 class with 9-9 moto finishes. The series continues this weekend at the Wild Rose MX Park in Calgary, Alberta.
