MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - MX Sports, producer of the AMA
Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL, is pleased
to announce the 2014 AMA Regional Championship Schedule. The 12 Regional
Championships will run in seven major geographical regions throughout
the United States, taking place in late May and running through the
month of June.
The Area Qualifiers, which will be announced this month, serve as the
first step in qualifying for the world's largest and most prestigious
amateur motocross championship. The Regional Championships then serve as
the next step to seed riders into the National Championship at the
Loretta Lynn Ranch. Only riders who finish in a qualifying position at a
Regional Championship are eligible to race the National in August
"There's only one path to winning an AMA national No. 1 plate at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, and it goes through one of the most impressive Regional Championship lineups we've ever had," said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow. "The AMA and MX Sports have put together what is the best regional schedule possible, complete with new, high-profile tracks that will test our racers as they compete for a gate pick at the national."
This year's lineup once again includes the many National-caliber tracks that have become such an integral part of the Road to Loretta's. The historic High Point Raceway returns to the Northeast, while Muddy Creek Raceway hosts a stop in the Southeast. The legendary RedBud MX returns to the Mid-East region, while Texas favorite Freestone MX returns to the South Central, and Competitive Edge makes up the Southwest region for 2014.
"Competitive Edge Motocross Park is proud to once again host the Southwest Regional Championship," said Competitive Edge Promoter, Kristen Oehlof. "Southern California is the mecca of motocross and arguably one of, if not the most, talent-stacked regions in the country. To bring the future stars of the sport together in one place for the weekend is very exciting."
"MX Sports is pleased to take Loretta Lynn's racers to what we believe is the best facility lineup ever, visiting five Pro Motocross Championship tracks, including the newest addition to the Mideast Amateur lineup in Crawfordsville, Ind.," said MX Sports Event Director Tim Cotter.
