ANDERSON 3RD, WILSON 10TH IN 450 CLASS
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team earned another win on Saturday at the East Rutherford Supercross, the penultimate round of the series, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Zach Osborne claimed an impressive victory in the 250SX East class. Teammates Jason Anderson and Dean Wilson finished third and 10th, respectively, in the 450 class.
Zach Osborne, the fastest qualifier in the 250SX East class, pulled the holeshot in his heat, started pulling away aboard his Husqvarna FC 250, and rode strong with over a two-second lead. He held tight to earn the win and a spot in the 250SX East main. He got a mid-pack start in the main and soon navigated into the top-10. He was seventh by the end of the first lap and was on the move to advance. He continued to make impressive passes, navigating into the fourth-place position by the end of the fourth lap. He was showing some serious speed and determination, making two more solid passes to land in second before making an excellent pass for the lead around the halfway mark. He finished the race strong to earn the win. He ended the day with the fastest 250 SX East qualifying time, fastest 250 heat race lap time, and fastest 250 main event lap time. He is currently second overall in 250SX East rider point standings.
“Today was pretty much a perfect day,” said Osborne. “I had the fastest qualifying time, won the heat race, and then won the main event. It doesn’t get much better than that. I gelled with the track from the get-go and enjoyed the ruts. I was able to make it happen. I got off to an OK start in the main event and was able to come through. All-in-all it was a great day and a good swing in the points so I’m happy."
Jason Anderson got the holeshot in his heat and rode a steady race to earn the win and a spot in the 450 main. He pulled another holeshot in the main aboard his Husqvarna FC 450 and started pulling away before going down in the corner before the triple. He remounted in seventh and started putting in work to move back through the pack. He put on an amazing charge and made it to fourth with 10 minutes to go. He made the pass for third with two minutes to go and held strong to the finish. He is currently fourth overall in 450 rider point standings.
“I had a pretty good day,” said Anderson. “Practice was so-so, but I came around in the night show and I was able to get that heat race win. I felt like I was really bringing it in the main and then just had a little bit of a mistake. I fell over but came back to third."
Dean Wilson started in the top-10 in his heat and immediately started battling. He moved up to sixth and held strong to the finish. Only two spots out of a qualifying position, he would have to line up for the 450 semi to earn a spot in the main. He got a mid-pack start in his semi and rocketed up to second before the end of the first lap. He was on the move and made the pass for the lead in the fourth lap before cross-rutting and moving back to second. He battled until the end and would eventually finish second and earn a spot in the 450 main. He was mid-pack at the start of the main and started making passes. He battled around the top-10, moved up to eighth, then went down after getting hit by another rider. He remounted in 10th, continued to push, and finished 10th. He is currently eighth overall in 450 rider point standings.
“I felt like my day was pretty solid,” said Wilson. “I qualified third, which was great. I didn’t do so well in the heat race but rode great in the semi. I had a good battle with Seely. I was actually coming through the pack pretty well in the main event but got off the track and was passed by a few guys, then passed them back and was moving forward but then got cleaned out and crashed. I ended up 10th. It was a learning experience and I’m excited to come back swinging next weekend."
The team will now make its way to the series finale next Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.
