Husberg Announces 2011 Enduro Team

Courtesy of Husaberg

Husaberg North America is excited to announce Mike Lafferty and Nick Fahringer as its 2011 National Enduro Team members.

Mike Lafferty (above) earned fourth in the 2010 AMA National Enduro series, while Nick Fahringer (below) placed fifth.
Lafferty, an 8-time National Enduro Champion, will enter his second year as a Husaberg Factory rider. Last year, Lafferty competed in the AMA National Enduro Series and placed 4th overall in the series earning one overall win and five additional podiums. For 2011, Lafferty will focus on the AMA National Enduro Series while also competing in select GNCC events to help with his endurance and speed.

“I am glad to be returning to Husaberg for the 2011 race season. We made a lot of progress with the bike last year and I am to the point where I am very confident in the machine and am ready to put it at the front of the pack,” remarked Lafferty.

Husaberg rider Nick Fahringer will return for his third year with the Husaberg brand. Fahringer continues to improve each season finishing the 2010 National Enduro season in 5th overall after earning seven top five finishes and winning multiple single tests. Like Lafferty, Fahringer will set his sights on the AMA National Enduro title while also competing in select GNCC and OMA events.

“Mike and Nick make a great team and we feel they will continue to be great representatives for the Husaberg brand on the east coast racing circuits. Each rider is now familiar with the new bike and continues to improve their race results each outing. We are hoping to see Husaberg as a regular on the National Enduro series podium,” stated Husaberg Team Manager Antti Kallonen.

Look for both riders at the premier of the 2011 AMA National Enduro Series next year in Salley, SC on February 27, 2011.

Husaberg Factory riders Mike Lafferty and Nick Fahringer finished 3rd and 4th at the fourth round of the AMA National Enduro Series.
KALGARY, Tex. The first of six sections proved to be challenging for both riders as Lafferty rode tight in the first section losing some seconds to the leaders. Fahringer reported, “I had a novice rider pull out in front of me on the section and I lost time trying to get around him.”

After the halfway point both riders picked up the pace and began to gain back precious seconds. Fahringer turned the fastest time in the fourth section and remained competitive with his times through the fifth and sixth section to finish 4th overall. Lafferty finished 3rd in the fourth section, had a strong showing in the fifth and won the final test section of the day to move himself onto the podium with a 3rd place finish. “It feels good to land on the podium today. This course was definitely challenging and helped open my eyes to some things I need to work on so that I can hopefully get back on the top of the box at the next event,” remarked Lafferty.

National Enduro Series - 8th round Blain, PA

Press Release from Ktm Racing

Shock Doctor/KTM Factory rider Mike Lafferty continued his come back win streak at the eighth round of the National Enduro Series when he took the win over his teammate Russell Bobbitt.

The two KTM riders have battled closely all year and after Lafferty's win this past weekend only 1 point separates them in the championship race. Both riders have each won 4 rounds of the series which bodes will for the KTM team - as only KTM riders have won every race of the series.

"Rocky, slippery and hard," commented Lafferty on the challenging Pennsylvania course. "I knew it would be tough, but I wasn't expecting it to be as difficult as it was. You had to be on your game today. Many riders went down hard in the first section as some rocks were planted and others just moved right out from under you."

In an impressive ride, Lafferty managed to win each special test. "It definitely wasn't easy today and Russell (Bobbitt) certainly gave me a run for my money. This win is special to me because I consider this round a hometown race for me and I had many family members come out and support me today." Not only did Lafferty have family members to support him during the race. But his brothers, Jack and Rich along with his father all suited up and raced as well.

The riders will now enjoy a three week break before the series returns for the ninth round to be held in Marquette, MI.
