We are starting to prepare for this event. We have some returning instructors-Brian Carroll, Barry Carsten, Jimmy McIlvaine, Ty Wozney, John Thomas, Keith Santora and Dan Callahan.
We are also working with Club MX as well as recruiting new instructors- Jesse Pierce and Ronnie Stewart. RPM along with Alan-BDMX. have decided to make the enrollment of the mx school a little more challenging this year.
We are asking all that are interested in attending to please write and essay-150 words-or less as to why motocross is important to you, how you use the discipline in this sport in your everyday life, and what you would like to gain from attending this school.
Younger students can have their parents help.
Deadline to return the essay is September 22, 2013 (Delaware States Weekend). You can return to Alan at the track, or mail to:
PO Box 1046, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
We are hoping to have all of our instructors on board again as well as inspirational speaker-Harold Glissen-Only One Inspiration. We will also be raffling of a pit bike again this year.
Thank you again for all your support. Together we can make this event bigger and brighter this year-2013. RPM will keep all posted as plans develop.

Bel-Ray Racer Jason Anderson Scores Top 10 Overall at Thunder Valley

Rockstar Racing Teammates all finish in Top 20

FARMINGDALE, N.J. (May 28, 2013) ― The Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National came to Lakewood, Colorado, for the second round of the AMA National Motocross Series. The mile-high location’s thin air and demanding conditions tested both man and machine, but the Bel-Ray racers attending were up for the challenge.

Bel-Ray’s efforts in the 450 class were led by Rockstar Energy Racing’s Ryan Sipes. Sipes was hoping to back up his top-ten overall finish in round one, but bad starts and a scary crash in the first moto didn’t allow for the results he expected. A first moto 19th was backed up by a second moto 13th, for 16th place overall. Sipes is looking forward to the upcoming weekend and Muddy Creek in Tennessee. Sipes, a Kentucky native, spent many years racing at Muddy Creek and hopes to put this experience to good use against the best the series has to offer. “I’m looking forward to next weekend,” said Sipes. “It’s probably as much of a home race as you can get. I grew up racing the mega series down at Muddy Creek since I was on 50s. I know the track is ‘gonna be completely different, but it should be fun.”

Joining Sipes in the 450MX class were Bel-Ray privateers Derek Anderson and Tucker Saye. Both riders are Colorado natives, and the local crowd could be heard cheering them on as they circled the track. Anderson ran inside the top 15 for most of the first moto, eventually finishing 17th. He backed it up in the second moto with a strong 22nd place, finishing 16th overall. Saye also ran well all day long. He qualified to the main show with a strong 2nd place in the Last Chance Qualifier and backed up this ride with 35th and 32nd place moto finishes for 35th overall.

Jason Anderson led Bel-Ray’s charge in the 250MX class. The Rockstar Energy Racing rider finished 5th in the first moto, and he charged back from a first turn crash in the second to secure 12th place in the moto, passing 28 racers along the way. These results secured him an 8th place overall finish. “This weekend was pretty good, well ‘kinda good. Half good," said Anderson. “The first race I ended up 5th, which was a decent 5th, but I feel like I should have ended up 4th. The second moto I took a digger in the first corner and came back to 12th, so I think I secured the RC Hard Charger Award. That’s about the end of my day.”

Anderson’s teammates, Blake Wharton and Nico Izzi, also performed well, with Wharton’s 14th and 8th moto places earning him 11th overall, while Izzi’s 11th and 13th moto finishes earned him 13th overall. Wharton, who hails from Texas, is looking forward to the weekend at Muddy Creek. ”I’m looking forward to racing next weekend. We’ve never raced a national there, but I grew-up racing on that track. Muddy Creek is kind of well-known, so that will be cool.” Izzi missed the entire Supercross season due to an injury, and he is just starting to get his race speed back. Brake issues halted his charge in each moto, but as the season progresses, look for him to be among the top racers in the class.

Rock River Yamaha WMX Report

Courtesy of Rock River Yamaha

Jefferson, WI – The Rock River Yamaha team made their way to Sacramento, CA with two of the fastest women’s motocross racers in the world for the Red Bull Hangtown Motocross Classic. Both racers have traveled to the United States with the hopes of finding success in the Lucas Oil Professional Motocross series with the support of the Rock River program behind them. Courtney Duncan and Mackenzie Tricker turned heads in the first round of the WMX Triple Crown with impressive finishes as newcomers to the WMX series.
New Zealand native, Courtney Duncan set the bar high with impressive lap times in qualifying. Her best lap time of a 2:13 was almost four seconds faster than the rest of her competition allowing her to feel confident heading into the first moto. As the day progressed and the track conditions became rougher, lap times were not as fast as they were earlier in the day, but Duncan maintained consistency allowing her to be a front runner in both motos. In the first moto, Duncan made her way past Sayaka Kaneshiro and Mackenzie Tricker to take over the lead, where she would stay for the remainder of the moto. She dominated the first moto as she gapped the rest of the women and finished with a substantial lead over second place, Sayaka Kaneshiro of Japan. In moto two, Duncan was faced with passing Kaneshiro and six-time WMX champion Jessica Paterson. Duncan made the passes and took the win in moto 2. She finished 1-1 for the first round of the three round WMX series. The 17-year-old Rock River Yamaha rider made a bold statement winning both motos aboard her YZ125 and beating some of the fastest girls in the sport in her WMX debut.

Mackenzie Tricker of Australia also took home valuable championship points to go along with the various amateur national titles she has collected since coming to the States. She was able to get out front early in the first moto as she grabbed the holeshot and lead the pack of talented female riders. Tricker finished the moto in third after a long battle with Kaneshiro. In moto two she was able to stay towards the front of the pack and finish sixth. With the third and sixth place finish aboard her Rock River backed Yamaha, Tricker leaves the first round of the WMX Triple Crown with a fourth overall.
The Rock River riders proved to be tough competition as new additions to WMX. Round two of the WMX Triple Crown will be held at the High Point National in Mt. Morris, PA on June 8.

Bel-Ray Racers Sipes and Anderson Earn Top 10 Overalls at Hangtown

Courtesy of Bel-Ray

FARMINGDALE, N.J. (May 20, 2013) ― The 2013 AMA National Motocross Series began this weekend in Sacramento, CA at the Red Bull Hangtown Classic. Following a grueling Monster Energy Supercross series that saw racers crisscross the country for 17 rounds in 18 weekends, the racers are enjoying a one-week break before the outdoor racing begins. The 12-round outdoor series begins in northern California in May and ends in Southern California in August, stopping in 10 additional states along the way. Bel-Ray racers are represented in both the 250MX and 450MX classes during the year.

In 450MX class racing, Bel-Ray sponsored Rockstar Energy Racing’s Ryan Sipes took advantage of his new move to the 450 class with an excellent 6th place overall following 8-7 moto finishes. Sipes raced the 250 class during the Supercross season, but he made the move to the 450 class after teammate Davi Millsaps was forced to have season ending surgery on an injured leg. Millsaps will rehab during the summer in preparation of defending his second place Supercross series finish. In addition to Sipes, Bel-Ray privateers Derek Anderson and Lowell Spangler qualified for the 40-man final motos. Anderson’s 27th overall came from 38-23 moto finishes. Anderson’s first moto was cut short after a flying rock cut his face, and he was forced to pull out. He received stitches in between the motos and soldiered back for a strong second moto. Spangler took the long trip from his Pennsylvania home to compete against the best in the county, and his 26-28 moto scores earned him 30th overall for the day.

In 250MX class racing, all three Rockstar Energy team members scored top 20 moto results, with Jason Anderson leading the way. Anderson finished 12th in the first moto and backed it up with a strong 6th in the second moto for a 7th place overall finish. Teammate Blake Wharton overcame a 17th place first moto to finish 10th in moto 2 for 13th overall. Despite missing the entire Supercross season due to injury, Nico Izzi came out swinging at Hangtown. He finished 22-16 for 21st overall, a score that is sure to improve as the series proceeds.

Bel-Ray Racers Searle and Lupino Score Top 10 Finishes in Portugal MXGP

Bel-Ray Racers Searle and Lupino Score Top 10 Finishes in Portugal MXGP
Grand Prix rookie Decotis earns first grand prix points.

FARMINGDALE, N.J. (May 20, 2013) ― The 2013 FIM World Championship series continued at the Beto Carrero circuit in Brazil for the 7th round of the 17 race series. Bel-Ray sponsored Team CLS Kawasaki racers Tommy Searle, Alessandro Lupino, and Jimmy Decotis all came to Brazil looking for top finishes in their races.

Despite being unable to train due to an injured finger suffered during the previous round, MX1 competitor Tommy Searle gutted out determined races throughout the event. His eighth place finish in moto one was backed up with a ninth place in the events Super Final. “I struggled all weekend with my broken finger,” said Searle following the Super Final race. “I couldn’t ride since Portugal. Before I got here, I did not think that it would make such a difference! I’m weak in my shoulders, and I got tired. In the MX1 race, I had a good start. On the second lap, I crashed and lost many positions. It’s good that we now have two weekends free; I need to recover and then get back on the bike to be ready for France. I know that my speed is OK. I just need to be fit again.” Searle is currently in sixth place in the series standings.

Team CLS Kawasaki fields two Bel-Ray powered racers in the MX2 class. Both team racers Alessandro Lupino and Jimmy Decotis scored points in this highly competitive class. Despite suffering from broken ribs suffered in a crash in the Italian round of the series, Lupino showed grit and determination, scoring an excellent top 10 finish with an 10th place finish. He backed this up with a strong ride in the Super Final. This race includes the top racers from each the MX1 and MX2 class, with the MX2 riders at a noticeable power disadvantage. Despite this, Lupino finished in 20th place in the moto and 7th in his class. Lupino spoke about his struggles following the Super Final. “Since I broke two ribs at the Italian GP, I haven’t been able to train normally. A s a result, my physical condition is not at its best. So here in Brazil, it was not a good weekend for me. In the MX2 race, I already got an arm pump after two laps. In the Super Final, I lost time when (Mel) Pocock crashed in front of me at the second corner. I now have three weeks to recover, and I will go to Holland to train. We are nearly at the halfway point of the season, and I want to race in the top five in France to give the team the results they expect.” Lupino is currently in 9th place in the series standings.

Lupino’s teammate, Jimmy Decotis, scored the 1st world championship points of his career with a 17th place 1st moto finish. The Brazil event marked only the third world championship race for the young American racer. Admittedly still adapting to the pace of GP racing, Decotis will use the upcoming break to increase his endurance in advance of the next grand prix. “This is definitively a crazy place with such great fans. The track was one of the better ones that I have faced since I started racing the GPs, and I feel that I have made progress since Portugal,”said Decotis. Everyone is working hard to achieve this, and I scored points in both races here. My speed is better, but I still need to improve my fitness so that I can keep the pace for the en tire 40 minutes. I’m sure it will come soon.”

All three Team CLS racers rely on Bel-Ray products to protect their machines and to perform at the highest level. The same products used by the team can be found on dealer shelves worldwide.

Bel-Ray Works Thumper Racing Full Synthetic Ester 4T Engine Oil is one of the products chosen by the teams to keep their machines performing their best.

The series continues June 9 at the Circuit Raymond DEMY in Erneee, France.

Rockwell Watches Announced as Title Sponsor of Thunder Valley National
Venue to Host Second Round of 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship
LAKEWOOD, Colo. It was announced today that Thunder Valley Motocross Park, host of the second round of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, has signed Rockwell Watches to serve as title sponsor of the Thunder Valley National scheduled for Saturday, May 25, in Lakewood.
Thunder Valley Motocross Park has hosted a round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship since the 2005 season. The 2013 campaign signifies the earliest the track has ever been in the championship, moving up one round from last season. In its eight seasons as a stop in the world’s most prestigious motocross series, Thunder Valley has been the sight of many memorable moments, including the first ever motocross national to be run at night during the 2008 season.
“I’m excited to welcome Rockwell Watches as the title sponsor of this year’s Thunder Valley National,” said promoter David Clabaugh. “They have become a familiar name in the sport in recent years and their support will be invaluable to the success of this season’s event.”
Since Rockwell was founded in 2007, the Utah-based company has been a fixture in the world of motocross. Rockwell has provided sponsorship support to both teams and riders that have included 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 450 Class Championship runner-up Mike Alessi, veteran rider Davi Millsaps, and 1995 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion Jeremy McGrath. The brand continues to be one of the most recognizable names in the pits thanks to the support it provides to the sport and its athletes.
“Becoming the title sponsor of a National is just a natural progression for Rockwell,” said Danny Wilson, Director of Branding for Rockwell. “We’ve been avid supporters of this sport from the very beginning and this is a tremendous opportunity to take our commitment to motocross as a whole to a new level. It’ll be an amazing event.”
The Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National will kick off the Memorial Day Weekend celebration with an action-packed day of racing at one of the most picturesque, yet challenging tracks in the world. Thanks to its near mile-high elevation, Thunder Valley Motocross Park provides and added element of difficulty for both teams a riders. Due to the thinner air, the motorcycles must be adjusted to perform at their peak despite trying atmospheric conditions. Additionally, riders’ stamina will be tested in the high altitude over the course of a pair of 30-minute motos to crown an overall winner.
Racing from the 2013 Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National begins at 3 p.m. EST on Saturday, May 25, with competition in both the 250 Class and 450 Class.
