- America's largest Amateur National Motocross Championship returns to
Humphreys County July 26 through August 1, for the 34th Annual Rocky
Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented
by AMSOIL. Hosted at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch, this event serves
as the world's largest and most prestigious amateur motocross
championship, serving as the proving grounds for amateurs looking to
take the step towards a professional career.
The Loretta Lynn National, established in 1981, is a favorite stop for fans and racers alike, due to in part to the surrounding history. The racetrack at Loretta Lynn Ranch is utilized just twice a year for the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship and AMA ATV Motocross Championship. This ensures a fair playing field, and no "hometown advantage," since no one will have a chance to ride or race on it before the rest of the competition arrives.
Over 22,000 hopefuls from across America attempted to earn one of just 1,482 starting gate positions, and the event will draw several thousand spectators from the surrounding states, as well as all over the U.S., ultimately bringing an estimated $4 million in revenue to Humphreys Country and surrounding areas.
The event also offers great opportunity for local racers from Tennessee to showcase their talents in front of their hometown crowd, while representing Tenn. on a national level. The National class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes and the race will follow a three-moto format, over the course of one week. Racers have previously qualified at Area and then Regional Championships, which took place across the U.S., in order to participate in the National event.
Tenn. youth racers competing during the week will be: Bobby Billings (51cc 4-6), Casey Cochran (51cc 7-8), Mason Dixon (51cc 7-8), Drew Adams (51cc 4-6), Sissy Livingston (85cc 9-11), Chase Prince (85cc 9-11), Gracie Sparks (Girls Jr. 9-13), Nicholas Capps (85cc 9-11), Maddox Owens (65cc 7-11), Mikayla Trower (Girls Sr. 12-16), Chase Gilley (Super Mini 2 13-16), Nathanael Thrasher (Mini Sr. 2 12-14), Jaden Lovelace (Super Mini 2 13-16), Walker Brown (51cc 4-6), Kaden McCrory (51cc 4-6) and Bryce Curtis (51cc 4-6).
Tenn. amateur races competition during the week will be: Trevor Tate (450 A), Jeff Gauger (Masters 50+), Dalton Fisher (450 C), Grayson Stuart (250 C Limited), Kerry Wisdom (Senior 45+), Blair Miller (Junior 25+), Brandon Tacheny (Vet 30+), Shelby Rolen (Women 16+ All-Star), Jeremy Atkinson (450 C), Jerry Ray (Senior 40+), Judson Wisdom (450 A), Crews Smith (250 B Limited), Bobby Wilson (Masters 50+), Preston Rose (Vet 35+), Brittney Bebout (Women 14+), Billy Thomas (Senior 45+), Harrison West (College 16-24), Ed Perry (Senior 40+), Samuel Redman (450 A), Benjamin Thomas (450 B), Tanner Earhart (450 B), Blake Taylor (450 B Limited), Chase McGee (250 C Limited).
Loretta Lynn's Ranch plays host to not only great racing, but also to pronounced nighttime activities. Opening ceremonies will take place Monday, July 27 at 8 p.m. CDT, and the following day will play host to an autograph session with retired professional motocross racer, Jeremy McGrath, at 1:30 p.m. The autograph sessions continue on Wednesday, July 29 at 1:30 p.m., with Kawasaki professional riders Wil Hahn, Adam Cianciarulo and Tyler Bowers, and the Motocross Prom heating up at 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 30, is jam-packed with activities including an autograph session with Factory Rider Phil Nicoletti at noon. Taking the stage at 8 p.m. will be country music artist Seth Ennis, and the GoPro/Red Bull Drive-In Threatre movie starts at 9 p.m. On Friday, July 31, the talent will come out with the Thor Fashion Show and the Yamaha/MotoTees Talent Show beginning at 8 p.m. Wrapping up the week will be the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Award Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 4 p.m.
Local residents are invited to participate in the event festivities. Spectator day passes run $40 per vehicle, there is no charge for individual fan admission. Fan camping is also available for non-racers during the week of the National with the purchase of a Facility Permit, permits are $350 for the week and include camping, gate admission and access to the nighttime events.
From Nashville take I-40 west 65 miles to exit 143. From Memphis take I-40 east approximately 140 miles to exit 143. After taking exit 143 follow Highway 13 North seven miles to the track entrance on your left.
The race action will be broadcast live daily at www.RacerTV.com, July 28 through Aug. 1, for a total of 40 hours of live coverage. In addition, two highlight shows featuring the event will air on NBC Sports Network on Sunday, October 11 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, October 18 at 4:30 p.m. EST.
