TOUGH NIGHT FOR RCH YOSHIMURA SUZUKI AT OAKLAND

Broc Tickle and Justin Bogle put in workman-like performances in the Monster Energy AMA/ FIM World Supercross Championship fifth round at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum at the weekend with Tickle 11th, but Bogle’s night ended early, saddling him with a 22nd-place finish.

While both RCH/ Yoshimura/ Suzuki Factory Racing riders felt good about their overall performances, neither was particularly pleased with the end result.

Tickle had a solid performance in his heat race where he locked himself into the Main Event with a promising and spirited fourth-place effort. After sitting out Round 4 to recover from injuries he suffered in Anaheim, Bogle raced his way into the Main via the second 450SX semi-final of the night where he finished second to defending series champion Ryan Dungey.

Unfortunately, as promising as both riders qualifying races were, neither was able to carry that momentum through to the Main Event: Bogle went down in the sand section while making a pass on another rider, which ultimately led to an early exit for the rider of the #19 Suzuki RM-Z450.

“It’s definitely frustrating,” commented Bogle following the race. “I had a solid heat and a really good semi so I felt good going into the Main. I had some trouble in the sand when I was going to make a pass, went down and hit my chest again. It’s tough to swallow but we’ll keep working hard. We’ll get it.”

Tickle recovered from a challenging start and made the most out of his night at the difficult and rutted northern California venue. The Holly, Michigan rider made a spirited charge from deep in the field and came up just one spot short of his first top-10 of the year.

“It was a tough night but overall, I feel pretty good,” said Tickle, who now sits 14th in points. “I had a really good heat race, started up-front and pretty much stayed there. I got a bad start in the Main and had to play catch-up the rest of the night. We’re getting ready to head east so we’ll work hard this week and be ready for Dallas Saturday night.”

Bogle, Tickle and the rest of the Monster Energy Supercross contingent dial-up a trip to AT&T Stadium this weekend when the series visits Arlington, Texas and the home of the Dallas Cowboys for Round 6.
