GEICO MiniMotoSX salutes Dallas SX Lites winner Blake Baggett, 2009 MMSX Youth champ!
Baggett, who rides minis for Red Baron, is the defending champ in Youth 10” & 12” – says he hopes to defend his mini titles this May 7th in Vegas
ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 22, 2010) – GEICO Powersports MiniMotoSX, presented by Monster Energy, would like to congratulate its 2009 Youth 10” and 12” champion – Rockstar/Suzuki’s Blake Baggett - on his first Supercross Lites win this past weekend at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.
Baggett, who runs the Red Baron brand minis at the GEICO MMSX, is a rookie on the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, tour and easily one of the fastest mini bike racers in the world.
“Everyone at GEICO MiniMotoSX was pumped to hear that Blake won the Dallas Lites main event,” said Mike Karsting, VP of Events for Source Interlink Media. “Blake’s one of our top young mini bike racers and ran the table last year in both the Youth 10 and 12-inch (rim) classes.
“It’s good to see he’s taken all he’s learned on our mini track at the Orleans and applied it to Cowboys Stadium,” added Karsting with a laugh.
A likeable, supremely fast mini bike racer with style to burn, Baggett – should he be cleared to race GEICO MMSX this May 7th – will move up to MMSX’s premier “Expert” class to battle the likes of Costella, his Red Baron teammate Blose, Browning, Pingree, Abrigo and Lawrence. At that point, should he qualify, Baggett would be able to contest for the new GEICO MMSX World Final.
“I’m not 100% sure if I’m going to be able to race MiniMotoSX or not … depends where I’m at in the points and what my Rockstar Suzuki team says,” said Baggett. “But I really hope so. I’m ready and Red Baron has my bikes ready to go.”
Added Red Baron’s LeAnn McElyea: “We are very proud of Blake. Everyone at Red Baron was glued to the TV watching his every move and we were so excited when he won. Blake is a part of our family and we’re just so happy for him. We’ll have Blake’s bikes ready to go for Vegas - you can count on that. We’re all hoping his Rockstar Suzuki Team gives him the green light.”
Also: For the first time ever, MMSX at the Orleans will feature electric bikes competing head-to-head with the combustion bikes in the 16” class. After years of being an exhibition class, electric bikes will finally get the chance to see if they can hold it down against the gasoline-powered bikes. Will they be able to keep up? Could they dominate? Are they gonna get waxed? You’ll have to be in Vegas on May 7th to find out!

GEICO Powersports MiniMotoSX gets new dirt for the upcoming Vegas/Orleans race!
The new red, er, brown-dirt carpet – 1,200 cubic yards worth of fresh clay
will be rolled out for the world’s top mini bike racers this May 7th
ANAHEIM, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2010) – Great news for mini bike racers today as officials for the upcoming GEICO MiniMotoSX, presented by Monster Energy, announced that this year’s track at Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena will be constructed with entirely new dirt.
“Twelve hundred cubic yards of fresh soil with just the right amount of clay content so that the jumps stay peaked and the corners don’t rut up too badly,” said Mike Karsting, VP of Events for Source Interlink Media. “Thanks to GEICO and Monster Energy stepping up as sponsors, we’re confident that this new dirt will result in – by far – the greatest mini bike track ever constructed.”
The task to backing Karsting’s claim goes again this year to Schaefer Tracks. “For six years the same pile of dirt has been used to create the GEICO MiniMotoSX, we are thrilled to get a new supply of dirt for the greatest mini bike race on the planet” commented Shane Schaefer.
Also … New for 2010 will be the MMSX World Final race intended to crown the fastest mini bike racer on the planet. The top three Youth and Expert 10” and 12” riders will be joined by the top ten international racers for one insane main event with $5,000 in podium prize money at stake for the Experts!
“The new World Final will be the war to settle the score as to a year’s worth of bragging rights to the coveted King of MMSX,” said Source Interlink Media’s Mike Karsting. “United States’ best versus the top international riders. You couldn’t ask for a more thrilling gate to cap off the night’s show!”
Also, for the first time ever, MMSX at the Orleans will feature electric bikes competing head-to-head with the combustion bikes in the 16” class. After years of being an exhibition class, electric bikes will finally get the chance to see if they can hold it down against the gasoline-powered bikes. Will they be able to keep up?
