FARMINGDALE, N.J. (July 26, 2016) – Bel-Ray sponsored racers and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing riders Max Nagl and Max Anstie secured podium finishes at the FIM Motocross World Championship Czech Republic. Nagl claimed his first MXGP victory on the 2016 season, while Anstie finished third in the MX2 Class on July 24.

Nagl started round 13 of the FIM Motocross World Championship in second place and maneuvered his way into first place by the second lap. Nagl remained in the lead for the rest of the race to secure the win. In the second race, Nagl was able to work his way into third place by the end of the first lap. In the sixth lap, Nagl was in first place and continued to keep his lead.

“It was a great GP for us,” said Max Nagl. “Despite only having the 14th gate pick, I managed to get two great starts in the final motos. I wanted to avoid being passed by any means, so I gave it all to remain out front until the end. My plan was to put pressure on him and that’s exactly what happened. He made a mistake a few laps before the end and when I got the lead I just went for it. Getting two race wins for my first overall victory this season is just great. It’s so good for the team and a great confidence booster for me as well.”

After not getting his desired start in moto one, Max Anstie was able to recover and finish third overall in the MX2 class. After starting moto one in 10th, Anstie was able to launch his way through the field into second place. For moto two, Anstie worked his way to the second by the halfway point. He made a quick move into the lead near the end, but suffered from a small crash before finishing in third.

“It was a solid weekend for sure and we can be happy with it,” said Anstie. “All of my practice sessions and races were good and I felt pretty good on my bike. It was nice to get a podium result in this track, even though I knew we could have done better. In moto one I didn’t get a good start and had to battle through the pack for second. Then in moto two…I tried really hard to pass him for the overall win, but it didn’t end up so well. I’d used a lot of my energy trying to come forward in moto one so there was not much left in the tank. It’s just one of those things.”

Fellow Bel-Ray supported racers who also competed in Czech Republic include Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing riders Conrad Mewse (MX2) and Christophe Charlier (MXGP).

Bel-Ray’s family of sponsored riders achieved the following results in the Czech Republic:

·         Max Nagl – 1st place overall, MXGP Class at 2016 FIM World Championship Czech Republic (3rd in points overall)
·         Max Anstie – 3rd place overall, MX2 Class at 2016 FIM World Championship Czech Republic (7th in points overall)
·         Thomas Covington (15-4) 8th place overall, MX2 Class at 2016 FIM World Championship Czech Republic (13th in points overall)
·         Conrad Mewse – 9th place overall, MX2 Class at 2016 FIM World Championship Czech Republic (19th in points overall)
·         Christophe Charlier – 14th place overall, MXGP Class at 2016 FIM World Championship Czech Republic (13th in points overall)

MICROBILT/PRBC’S STEWART SCORES 33RD OVERALL AT WASHOUGAL

KENNESAW, GA. (July 26, 2016) – Ronnie Stewart rallied on his Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki RM-Z450 to finish 25th in the second moto in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship round on Saturday in Washougal, Washington. Unfortunately for Stewart, a minor mechanical issue in the first moto resulted in a 33rd-place overall finish for the day. Stewart reported learning a lot in the second moto and looks forward to putting that knowledge to good use in the final three rounds of the season in August.

Stewart began the Washougal National weekend flying the MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki colors at an autograph signing on Friday evening at Pro Caliber Vancouver.

“There was a really strong turnout and that was nice to see,” Stewart said of the autograph session. “It was great to see the excitement of the fans getting to meet the riders who they were going to watch race the next day. For most of them they only get to one race a year, so they were really amped and that was awesome to experience.”

On race day Stewart qualified directly into the main, 35th out of 60 riders, with a time of 2:17.570 on his MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki RM-Z450.

In the first moto Stewart closed in on a big group of riders and was just about to make his move when the chain derailed from his bike ending his moto.

“I was just starting figure out my lines and saw a whole freight train of people in front of me,” Stewart explained. “I knew it was time to move before it got too spread out. I was pushing pretty hard when my chain derailed. Luckily the guys at Yoshimura Suzuki helped me identify what could have been the issue and we were good for the second moto.”

Stewart and the team quickly regrouped for moto 2.
“Kudos to my mechanic Zach,” Stewart said. “He had to do a lot of work to get the bike ready for the second moto.”

Despite the last gate pick and a poor start, Stewart used the deft handling of his Suzuki RM-Z450 to make his way past a slew of riders to end the moto in 25th.

“With the gate pick and the start it was difficult for me to get up there to ride with the faster guys to help push me along,” Stewart explained. “I tried my best to find some better lines and to learn and just get better all around. That’s what I did in the moto, so there are positives there.”

Now Stewart looks forward to two weeks off of the circuit to prepare for the final three races.
Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki and the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship return to the legendary Unadilla National on Saturday, August 13th. Live coverage begins at 10:00 am Eastern on www.promotocross.com. The motos can also be viewed on MAVTV and NBCSN.
