MORGANTOWN, W.V. (April 7, 2010) - With the start of the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship season just over six weeks away, MX Sports Pro Racing announces further information surrounding the season opening event, the Rockstar Energy Hangtown Motocross Classic. Festivities will commence on May 20 with a special event and press conference on the steps of the California State Capitol Building in Sacramento.

Celebrating Hangtown's 42nd year of hosting a motocross national and its return to the season-opening round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, the Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club will bring the excitement of the world's most prestigious motocross series to the state capital of California. The massive, awe-inspiring race rigs of American Motocross' most prominent teams will line L Street and create a surreal setting in the heart of the city. Additionally, the sport's biggest stars, including defending champion Chad Reed, Jagermeister KTM's Mike Alessi, Rockstar/Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey, Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGR's Josh Grant, Honda Red Bull Racing's Andrew Short and Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto will be on hand to speak to the media and interact with the fans in attendance as they prepare for a new season of the best outdoor racing on the planet.

The Rockstar Energy Hangtown Motocross Classic, which will take place on Saturday, May 22, has always been a gem of the outdoor nationals and the AMA Pro Motocross schedule, producing great racing and featuring some of the most dedicated and boisterous motocross fans in the world.

"I can't wait to kick things off for the 2010 season in Hangtown," boasted Rockstar/Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey. "I've always enjoyed racing there and with all the history it has, I can't think of a better place to make my 450 Class debut and I can't wait to bring our sport to the steps of the state capitol."

"The Hangtown Classic is an American Motocross tradition that out-dates the AMA Pro Motocross Series itself," said Davey Coombs, Vice President of MX Sports. "And yet the Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club continues to evolve and improve the event each and every time. They take great pride in their racetrack and their facility with some of most enthusiastic motocross fans in the world and we look forward to working with the Dirt Diggers for years to come. This is our chance to recognize their commitment and give it the appropriate acknowledgement they deserve."

Several elected members of the California government from throughout the region will show their support of the legendary event and get an up close look of what the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship is all about.

"The Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club (DDNMC) is proud that their event, the 42nd Hangtown Motocross Classic, is once again the opening round of the 2010 AMA Lucas Oil AMA Pro Championship," said Race Director John Allen. "The Hangtown Classic has been a staple in the series for the last 36 years and The Dirt Diggers North organization is committed to continue the history of hosting one of the most recognized events in the series. While there are economic challenges facing us all, DDNMC is determined to continue the legacy in its historical grand style and kicking things off right in the heart of downtown is the perfect way to do that."

The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 20. All fans are welcome to join in the celebration and can take advantage to get up close and personal with their favorite riders at an exclusive autograph session following the event.
