Pine Bush, N.Y…June 17-18 will be a double header weekend for the Jimmy Weinert Racing Team. Heading in two directions, riders Robbie Marshall and Paul Lamb will fly the Weinert Racing banner at the Budds Creek Motocross in Mechanicsville, Md., while Seth Rarick and Derrick Hall will tackle the Loretta Lynn Regional Qualifier in New Berlin, N.Y.
"It’s tough when we have two different races on the same weekend," says Weinert. "It would be great if I had my own jet or a magic carpet so I could fly back and forth. But unfortunately I don’t and that makes it impossible for me to be at both events. Robbie and Paul have the most experience, so they will take one of our mechanics, Eric Kronoff, and I will go with Seth and Derrick."
This will mark the second time this season that Marshall and Lamb have carried the Weinert colors in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
"We ran at High Point Raceway last weekend in Mount Morris, Pa.," says Lamb. "I definitely struggled. Robbie qualified but unfortunately he crashed, so neither of us got the results we wanted. Hopefully this weekend will be a lot better. I really want to race with this team and I need to show them what I can do."
One of the best known tracks in the country, Budds Creek is a world-class motocross track. Offering great racing lines and spectacular viewing, it is a favorite with both riders and fans.
"It is a great place to race," says Weinert. "And, I am definitely going to miss being there. I’m pretty sure we have worked out some of problems we had last weekend and am looking for both Robbie and Paul to do well."
In the racing world, the words Unadilla and motocross are synonymous. In fact competitors have been racing at this famed New York facility since 1969, long before the sport gained the foothold in America it enjoys today.
"I love Unadilla," smiles Weinert, who was honored there last year. "I think both Seth and Derrick will do well. Everything is ready and now all we need is a favorable smile from the elusive Lady Luck."
"We are excited," echo both Rarick and Hall. "This is definitely an important round for us and we have to do well so we can continue to move up. With Jimmy’s help and knowledge of the track, we think we can pull it off."
"Everyone has been working double time this week to make sure our Kawaski’s are in top condition, continues Weinert. "Lynda (my wife) has got us totally organized and has made sure that both teams have all the things they need to take to the track. We certainly wouldn’t be ready without her help. She is a major player in our racing effort. Without her we would be sunk.
Come the weekend, it will be all system go. And, when the green flag falls we will be ready to give it our all."
