5th Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross
Offers Over $73,000 in Manufacturer Contingency to Racers
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 18, 2014) - The 5th Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross is set to give away over $73,000 in amateur contingency awards to racers participating in this year's two-day event. FollowingSaturday's Daytona Supercross by Honda, amateur racing kicks off Sunday, March 9, and continues on Monday, March 10 at the historic Daytona International Speedway.
"We are very excited and honored to have nearly all of the OEM's represented at this year's Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross at Daytona," said MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. "Anytime the industry's decision makers and talent scouts attend an amateur event is a real bonus for the athletes and families that are involved."
In addition to their generous contingency programs, manufacturer's such as Suzuki,KTM, Team Green Kawasaki, Cobra and Yamaha will have trackside support teams on site to lend a hand to racers on each respective brand.
"Our Yamaha Trackside Support program and our southeast representative Triangle Cycles is pumped to add the Daytona event to their calendar in 2014," said Donnie Luce, Yamaha Racing Amateur MX Coordinator. "This is a prestigious event and we look forward to supporting our bLU cRU riders as well as seeing riders in action for the first time in 2014."

The RCSX class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days. Unlike the Loretta Lynn Ranch format, riders do not need to qualify at other races in order to participate in the Daytona event.

About Ricky Carmichael
Ricky Carmichael won 102 American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Motocross Nationals and 48 AMA Supercross main events for a record 150 major wins between 1997 and 2007. The Tallahassee, Fla., resident won 10 AMA Motocross Championships and five AMA Supercross crowns, giving him a record 15 major titles in his career. After retiring from professional motocross racing, he began pursuing a career in auto racing and was named the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver. Currently, Carmichael can be found in the TV booth providing color commentary on CBS and Speed's Supercross coverage. As for motocross, he will forever be known as "the Goat," which stands for greatest of all-time.
