AURORA,
Ill. – Eight individual race winners including future stars of
supercross, have highlighted the 2014 season of AMSOIL Arenacross,
featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross. Feld Motor Sports®
announced, today, that fans will have the opportunity to watch the
racing action unfold thanks to a groundbreaking television package on
FOX Sports 1.
Beginning on Sunday, February 16, AMSOIL Arenacross will be featured on its new home with the opening round of the season from Worcester, Mass., and the DCU Center at 11 a.m. ET. The second broadcast from Baltimore, Md., and Baltimore Arena will air on Sunday, March 2, at Noon ET and will begin an 11-week span of telecasts from each remaining round of the championship every Sunday thereafter.
“We are incredibly excited to bring AMSOIL Arenacross to fans across North America on FOX Sports 1,” said Todd Jendro, vice president of operations, Feld Motor Sports. “This platform provides the largest audience ever made available to the championship, which is sure to generate new fans across the country who will likely be watching AMSOIL Arenacross for the very first time. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the sport, the riders, the teams, and the sponsors.”
The returning broadcast tandem of former Monster Energy Supercross Western and Eastern 250SX Class Champion Grant Langston and veteran announcer Robbie Floyd will provide the play-by-play and analysis from the booth at each round. Rounding out the team will be trackside reporter Cristy Lee, who also returns for her second season.
Through four AMSOIL Arenacross rounds, one of the greatest storylines has been the rise of Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross program and its up-and-coming young riders. Three Road to Supercross competitors have already claimed victory this season and viewers will have the chance to see how Aaron Plessinger, Jacob Hayes, and Keith Tucker did on FOX Sports 1.
“The chance for these future stars to be featured in front of millions of eyes on FOX Sports 1 is incredible,” said Carmichael, a five-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion. “These kids have given it their all each week and have been impressive to watch, so to know they’ll have their chance in the spotlight on FOX Sports 1 is something I could not have ever dreamed of.”
“I’m almost speechless,” said Greensboro winner and TUF Honda rider Jacob Hayes. “I would have never thought in a million years that I would be seen on TV winning my first pro race, let alone having that race broadcast on FOX Sports 1. AMSOIL Arenacross has been such a great experience for me thus far and it only gets better knowing my family and friends can watch me each week on television.”
