MURRIETA, Calif. – This weekend’s ninth round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, is set to take place in Daytona, Florida and will mark the return of seasoned-veteran Nick Wey. Prior to the start of this season, he announced his decision to step away from full-time racing, but left open the possibility to compete at select events in the future. Wey is set to join the Team Tedder/Monster Energy Kawasaki racing team for the remainder of the 2016 season.
“Racing motorcycles is something that I love, which is why I never ruled out racing altogether,” said Wey. “I was presented the opportunity to complete the rest of the season aboard competitive equipment and I am looking forward to being back at the races having fun.”
After forming his own Mafia Moto Crew racing team in 2013, it will certainly be a different look for the Michigan native when he lines up this weekend. For the first time in several years he will be competing without the pressure of running a race team, ultimately allowing him to focus on enjoying the time spent riding his motorcycle. The always-friendly No. 27 will be competing aboard a Kawasaki KX450F™ in the 450SX Class.
Nick would like to thank all of the Team Tedder sponsors for their support as well as his group of personal sponsors that stepped up to continue their support in 2016: Mafia Moto Crew, Answer Racing, Motosport.com, SHOWA, Kawasaki, HJC Helmets, Scott, Gaerne, Pasion MX, Roys Cyclery, Dunlop, and Mandingo Pickles.
