TEAM BABBITT’S/MONSTER ENERGY/KAWASAKI RIDER JACOB HAYES CAPTURES FIRST VICTORY OF THE 2018 SEASON

After competing for the win with Team Babbitt's/Monster Energy/Kawasaki teammate Gavin Faith in the first two rounds, Jacob Hayes took his first victory of the 2018 AMA Arenacross season at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

A force to be reckoned with, Hayes and Faith launched out of the gate for the first 250AX Main Event within the top three positions. The teammates remained persistent, racing their KX™250F motorcycles alongside each other to the front of the pack. Just before reaching the checkered flag, Faith made a mistake in the whoops, allowing Hayes to make the pass and take his first Main Event win of 2018 with Faith following in second.

The second 250AX Main Event began with Hayes quickly taking over the lead and Faith battling alongside him throughout the remaining 15 laps to finish 1-2 overall. Faith remains the leader on the championship standings by a mere four points ahead of Hayes with 97 overall points.

"Our team had another great night and I'm happy to take home the win," said Hayes. "Gavin and I battled all night, giving the fans a good show and we're happy to finish on the podium together. This is going to be a fun season."

"It's great to see Jacob get the win," said Faith. "I'm proud of the race we ran. We're feeling really good about where we're at and I'm looking forward to next weekend."

After clocking in with the sixth fastest qualifying time of the day and winning his heat, Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green™ rider Garrett Marchbanks lined up eager to race in the Lites East class Main Event. There was no looking back as the Team Green rider pulled the holeshot to capture the win and retain the points lead. With the win, Marchbanks has completed the required Road to Supercross points needed to earn his Professional Supercross license and is one step closer to his pro debut.

"I couldn't have asked for a better night," said Marchbanks. "Our hard work on starts is paying off and I was happy to get out front with the holeshot. It feels so good to get the win. We'll now switch gears to get ready for Daytona Amateur Supercross and the Freestone Spring Championships in March."
