US Supercross Lites West Series: 2nd round Phoenix, AZ |
FMF/KTM Rider Tommy Searle Earns 8th at Phoenix Supercross. |
Searle threw down decent times during the two timed practice sessions and was placed in heat number two for the night show. Fellow KTM rider, Sean Borkenhagen, of the KTM Factory Services/One Industries Team was first up in heat number one.
Borkenhagen had a solid heat race starting in 3rd place off the start. He eventually finished the race in 5th position to easily qualify for the main event. In heat number two both Searle and Phillip Nicoletti lined the gates aboard their KTM machines. Both riders jumped out front early and ran inside the top five behind leader Josh Hansen and second place holder Ryan Morais. After the six lap sprint Nicoletti held on to 3rd while Searle finished right behind him in 4th position.
In the main event Searle got a nice jump off the start and rounded the first corner within the top ten. He crossed the first lap in 8th place and continued to charge hard to maintain his position. On lap four, he passed Jeff Alessi to move forward to 7th position. The next lap Searle was passed by Broc Tickle and dropped back to 8th place. At the end of the fifteen lap main Searle maintained his position and finished 8th overall. With two rounds down, Searle now sits 7th in overall points. Nicoletti also put in an impressive ride earning 10th overall, while Borkenhagen finished the night in 16th.
