MX Heaven Millville Race Report

Fredrik Noren improves while Calle Aspegren is forced to sit this one out.

In another first for the Swedish riders on the MX Heaven Team, the heat and humidity of the Millville afternoon was like nothing they had ever experienced before. The previous days rains had also made the track muddy and slippery, especially in practice, but that did not give the Swedes any concern.

Calle Aspegren who is struggling with a shoulder injury, actually felt pretty good during early practice, but qualifying on the tough track got the better of him and he did not have the strength and speed to make it into the race.

Fredrik Noren on the other hand had no problems with the slippery mud and qualified easily in 23 rd place.

For this event, Fredrik realized that he needed to put together two solid motos without silly crashes or tip-overs and he did just that.

In the first race, he started in the middle of the pack, but set a quick and steady pace, making it up to 14th at the end, with lap times not far from riders around 10th place.

For the second race, conditions were tougher than in the first race because the track had dried out and the heat and humidity was much higher.

The same scenario played out, a decent mid pack start and steady advance. But in the end, Fredrik had spent too much energy early on and he wisely backed off, ending up in 17th place, for an overall 15th for the day, his best up to this point.

“I am pretty happy with an overall 15th under these difficult conditions. Two solid motos was exactly what I wanted to do and I can build on this now and do better in the next few races”, said Fredrik after the race.

” It looks like the week at home at MXHeaven in Perris paid off pretty well” said Team manager and riding coach Stefan Elvin. “We worked on starts and consistency and that is exactly what Fredrik showed today.”

Both Calle and Fredrik will stay with the team motor home for the spectacularly scenic drive from Minnesota, through the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho and Oregon to Washington state for next weeks race at the spectacular Washougal track near Vancouver, WA..
