Osborne and Davalos Finish 7th and 10th in 250
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team made its way to Southwick, Mass. on Saturday for the Southwick National, the seventh round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Christophe Pourcel, Zach Osborne and Martin Davalos arrived ready to battle while teammate Jason Anderson stayed behind due to injury.

Christophe Pourcel started his Husqvarna FC 450 in the top-five in the first 450 moto and immediately started fighting near the front of the pack. He came out of the first lap in fourth, fell back to fifth in lap three, but continued to push. He was on the heels of fourth by lap 10 and eventually finished the race in fifth. He got a great start in the top two in the second 450 moto, quickly made the pass for the lead, and started battling for position with fellow riders in the top three. He fell back to third by the end of the first lap and was looking strong as he continued to hold riders off until lap six when he moved to fourth. He would eventually finish the race in fifth. The 5-5 finish gave him 6th overall on the day. He is currently 6th overall in 450 rider point standings.
“Today was decent,” said Pourcel. “I finally got two top-five finishes - which has been the goal for a long time. I got great starts and felt really good on the bike. I’m just going to keep pushing and hopefully I’ll get on the box soon."
Zach Osborne got a mid-pack start in the first 250 moto and had moved into ninth by the third lap. He would eventually finish the race in 8th. He started mid-pack in moto two and started putting in work to move up through the ranks. After a small crash, he finished the race in seventh. The 8-7 finish gave him 7th overall on the day. He is currently 5th overall in 250 rider point standings.
“Today was kind of a disappointment,” said Osborne. “I had a little issue in the first practice and messed up my gate pick for the first moto. I still got a decent start, but I didn’t ride that great. I got off to a better start in the second moto but had a run in with another rider about halfway through the moto. That dropped me down pretty far, but I still came back to seventh. It was a tough day but I’ll regroup for next week."
Martin Davalos started in the middle of the pack in the first 250 moto, had a slight run in with another rider, but came back to 15th by the third lap. He juggled for position the remainder of the race and eventually finished in 16th. He got a good start in moto two and was fourth by the end of the first lap. He continued to fight and would eventually cross the finish line in sixth. The 16-6 finish put him at 10th overall, and he is currently 13th in 250 rider point standings.
“Southwick was pretty good for me,” said Davalos. “I didn’t grow up riding in the sand so it was definitely challenging. I think living in Florida has opened my mind a bit to how to ride in the sand. The track was really gnarly, especially in the second moto. It’s a weird kind of sand, and if you try and hug the insides you don’t get any traction. I ran into someone in the first moto and bent up my bike. I was able to come back to 15th. I almost got the holeshot in the second moto and was able to finish sixth. I’m definitely moving in the right direction. The goal is to put in two solid motos. I just need to minimize the mistakes."
