KENNESAW, GA. (Jan. 31, 2016) – Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki’s fill-in rider Alexander Nagy continued his quest to make a Monster Energy AMA Supercross main event Saturday night in Oakland’s O.co Stadium. And as has been the case all season, Nagy managed to earn hard-fought incremental gains, even though he came up short of his ultimate goal.

Nagy looked solid in 450 class qualifying. He clocked a time of 1:00.329 on the MicroBilt/PRPC Suzuki RM-Z450, shaving two seconds off his time from the first session. That time was put him 29th, well inside the ‘Fast 40’ who qualified for the evening program. He managed that in spite of an abbreviated schedule due to rain in the Oakland area on Friday.

“Qualifying went really well,” Nagy said. “I ended the second timed practice fifth in my session and my time qualified me 29th for the show. That was my best qualifying so far and I was really happy about that. We only had two sessions instead of three because of the rain the day before, but the track was really good, really tacky and a fun layout. I liked it a lot.”

A tough start hurt Nagy in his heat race, where he finished 13th. He then came home 11th in the semi and then ninth in the Last Chance Qualifier, continuing his course of getting ever closer to qualifying for a main event.

“I had a good heat race even though I didn’t get the best of starts,” Nagy explained. “I managed to work my way through. In the semi an 11th and then in the LCQ I finally got a pretty good start. I ran up there in the first couple of laps, then a couple of guys picked me off. I think I ended up ninth, so some good progress and another good night of racing.”

Main MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki 450 rider Ronnie Stewart, who continues to rehab from his pre-season testing injuries, along with the squad’s 250 rider Vicki Golden was on hand in Oakland to meet with fans. The team also hosted a large contingent of MicroBilt clients who came to see what Supercross was all about. Golden is training in preparation for the start of the 250 East Region Supercross Series, which kicks off on Feb. 27 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki will be back in action this coming Saturday, February 6 in round five at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, a new venue for the Supercross series. You can catch all the action live on Fox Sports 2 next Saturday evening starting at 9:00 pm Eastern.
