The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team rolled
into the second and final supercross held at San Diego’s Petco Park on
Saturday. Riders had to get tricky due to a track that was extremely
hard to pass on, making the start an essential part of the night. Jason
Anderson, Zach Osborne, and Christophe Pourcel were forced to charge
from behind after mid-pack starts. Anderson continued his streak of
top-five finishes in the 450 class, while Osborne worked his way up to a
fifth place finish in the 250 class. Pourcel suffered from some
mistakes in the 450 class and finished 17th.
Jason Anderson earned a top five start in his heat and worked his way up to a second place finish. He pulled an 8th place start in the main and immediately focused on moving through the pack. He picked off riders one-by-one and made impressive passes to finish fourth aboard his Husqvarna FC 450. He continues his streak of top five finishes, and is currently third overall in 450 rider point standings.
“I got a good start in the heat race,” said Anderson. “I didn’t get such a good start in the main, though. All in all it wasn’t a bad night, and I still got fourth. The track was super slick and it was tough to make passes but I still made it happen. I’m just going to keep charging.”
Zach Osborne was coming off a DNF due to a crash at last week’s race in Glendale. His Husqvarna FC 250 pulled a 2nd place start in his heat and held strong to the finish. He started in the top 10 in the main and worked hard to make passes. He made his way to 5th with 2 laps to go and kept it steady to the finish.
“I had such a good practice and heat race,” said Osborne. “I got a 10th place start in the main, though, and ended up riding really tight. I haven’t been on the podium since Anaheim 2, and it’s starting to get a little frustrating. I’ll regroup and focus on Dallas.”
Christophe Pourcel earned his spot in the 450 main after earning a win in the LCQ. He worked his way up to a 17th place finish after starting in the back of the pack in the main.
