Blake Baggett comes into the outdoor season as one of the heavy favorites for the championship and showed his speed with the 6th fastest time of the day. As the gate dropped for the first moto of the season, Blake kept the throttle wide open as he rounded the first lap in 10th place. He quickly marched his way forward, finishing the first moto in 7th place. Moto 2 saw Blake moving forward from just outside the top ten at the start. He put on a charge through the field, working his way inside the top five by mid-race. By the end, Blake climbed up one more spot to finish 4th. His 7-4 score earned him 5th overall.
“It was a good race,” said Baggett. “I felt good out there today and had two solid motos. We are going in the right direction and ready to put it on the podium next weekend at Glen Helen.”
Benny Bloss came into the opening round of the outdoor season ready to do battle. His first moto did not start easily as he would go down on the first lap. Benny then showed what he was made of as he put on a furious charge from last place to inside the top ten, finishing the first moto in 10th place. A solid start in moto 2 allowed Benny to battle inside the top ten. The Acerbis-supported rider kept charging and worked his way inside the top five to finish 5th. His 10-5 score earned him 7th overall.
“It was a solid day,” said Bloss. “My starts weren’t there, but I rode strong both motos to finish with a 7th overall. We have a few things to work on, and I’m looking forward to another good weekend at Glen Helen.”
Dakota Alix lined up for the 250MX moto 1 and used the power of his FMF Racing exhaust to launch out of the gate inside the top twenty. Alix looked solid on the rough track, finishing the moto in 18th. Another solid start in moto 2 had Alix inside the top twenty once again. The chopped-up track didn’t phase Alix, and he found himself working his way forward. While he made it up to 15th, he dropped back a few spots late in the race to finish 17th at the checkered flag. His 18-17 score earned him 18th overall.
Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS now travels to Southern California for round two of the Pro Motocross Outdoor Championship at Glen Helen MX in San Bernardino, CA.
