Foxborough, Mass. (April 21, 2018) – GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin was absolutely on fire on a chilly day just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, but an early crash cooled off his bid for a Monster Energy Supercross race win. Martin, who had won the previous events in Indianapolis and Minneapolis, looked plenty capable of a third-straight triumph, as he dominated practice and qualifying throughout the day, and then won his heat race by a large margin. He started inside the top five in the main event, but a minor collision with another rider sent him into the tough blocks and off the track. Martin found himself stuck in an awkward position and in last place by the time he got going again.

From there, Martin logged a relentless charge, claiming the fastest lap time of the race during his fight to the front. He’d climb from 22nd to fourth.

 

“Had an unreal day going for myself and the Factory Connection GEICO Honda crew at Gillette Stadium,” said Martin. “Was really feeling the flow with being the fastest guy in practice and winning a heat race! So it was bummer to clip with Kyle Peters in the beginning of the main event and jump off the track. I should have backed down but I was committed to jumping the triple. Really proud of how I rode after going down.”

 

With series’ leader Zach Osborne scoring the win, Martin sits 23 points behind in the standings with just one race remaining in 250SX East. That race takes place in Las Vegas in two weeks. Chase Sexton will be in action for the GEICO Honda team in Salt Lake City this weekend, as part of the 250SX West tour.

 

There was another comeback story in the 450SX class, where GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig was competing for Honda HRC. Craig holeshot the main event but crashed while leading on lap one. He’d get up in last and fight his way back to 11th at the finish.
