Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s McElrath Battles Mud In Seattle to Finish Fourth

SEATTLE (April 7, 2018)  Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM‘s Shane McElrath finished fourth at CenturyLink Field, not battling man but nature as the track was a muddy challenge for Round 8 of the Western Regional 250SX championship. The North Carolina native didn’t let the toughest conditions the riders have seen in years keep him from showing off brand new racewear and taking a finish just off the podium. Teammate Alex Martin remained sidelined as he just recently started riding following an injury at an early-season race.
McElrath started the race off strong but almost got stuck in a deep section of mud early in the race and fell back from second to fourth. He did his best to stick to his lines, surviving the worst race the riders had seen in recent memory. With the race shortened to only eight minutes plus one lap, McElrath pushed to make sure he held onto his fourth overall.
“That might have been the toughest race I’ve faced ever,” said McElrath. “I was hoping it would have been a good equalizer race, but the track didn’t even stay (enacted) for the heat race, let alone the main event. It was tough but once I almost got stuck,  I just focused on keeping steady and finishing. Let’s hope that Salt Lake City isn’t like this, but it’s been known to be unpredictable as well.”
McElrath did what he could in the mud to showcase the all-new Troy Lee Designs racewear that is hitting shelves next week. Fans can find the GP Air Jersey Raceshop Ocean and GP Air Pant Mono Ocean for sale Monday, April 9 while the SE4 Composite Factory Orange helmet he was wearing is available now.

The whole KTM family is a living example of this worldwide.
