FOXBOROUGH, MA – April 23, 2018 – Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Jordon Smith kept the leader honest as he finished with his fourth podium of the season inside Gillette Stadium outside Boston. His great ride kept him in second overall in the points standings. Teammate Sean Cantrell came off a career-best ride to back it up with a fifth place in Foxborough. Cantrell continued climb inside the top 10 in the standings with seventh overall.

Smith started the night grabbing third in the heat race. The slick track was hard to manage with the various elements like changing shadows challenging the riders. Smith got a great start aboard his KTM 250 SX-F and settled into second on the opening lap. He kept pushing during the 15-minute main event, but was unable to make his move and came away with the runner-up finish.
“I rode well in the race, but I struggled all day with the track,” said Smith. “The shadows and wind were another element we had to deal with, but I rode really good and was able to challenge Zach (Osborne) and keep him as honest as I could.”
Cantrell fell into a groove last weekend and it carried over into the race in Foxborough. The rookie followed up his career-best finish with a great start in the main event behind teammate Smith. He was sitting in third much of the race until a small mistake pushed him back to fifth, where he finished. The rookie is sitting seventh overall in the points standings.
“It was a great night being able to follow up my best finish of the season with a top-five,” said Cantrell. “I really thought I had a podium, but had to settle for fifth. Overall it’s been great to run up at the front and be able to manage the speed with the front-runners. It would be great to lock in another good run in Las Vegas at the showdown.”

About KTM

“READY TO RACE” for KTM, these three words are far more than a simple slogan. They stand for the entire company philosophy of developing vehicles that can without any modifications comprehensively assert themselves in any race. Direct from the dealer onto the track and into the battle for victory. Designers, engineers and riders are bound by a clear common denominator: an unconditional passion for motorcycles. The whole KTM family is a living example of this worldwide. Countless offroad World and European championship titles plus brilliant victories in the world’s toughest races (International Six Days Enduro, Dakar Rally, Erzbergrodeo, and many more) all speak for themselves. And KTM Supermotos, Naked Bikes, Superbikes and the X-Bow all demonstrate what an “orange” lead means on asphalt.
