SALT LAKE CITY (April 28, 2018)  Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM‘s Shane McElrath proved to be a man on a mission inside Rice-Eccles Stadium to earn his second win of the season in come from behind fashion. As the sole rider for the team with Alex Martin remaining on the sidelines, McElrath was able to make the team proud with a huge victory at the Western Regional 250SX penultimate round of the supercross season.
With a few weeks in between Seattle and Salt Lake City, McElrath had some time to work with the team to see what improvements could be made. Even after qualifying fifth, McElrath found a way to improve his speed on the continually deteriorating track. In the Main Event, he found himself inside the top five at the start but quickly put the pressure on to move forward. By halfway, McElrath had made his way to the top and was able to hold on until the end despite some lappers making it closer than he would have liked. McElrath remains in fourth for the championship, but only two points out of third overall.
“At some point in the race I almost had to ask myself, ‘Am I going to do it again?’,” said McElrath. “The whole team worked really hard this week to dial in the bike. They really blow me away with how much they want it and it pushes me harder when I’m out there to give them the win. I’m really blessed and thankful to be here (on the podium).”

McElrath was easy to spot in his all-new GP Air Jersey Raceshop Ocean and GP Air Pant Mono Ocean that is now available. The gear was rounded out with the SE4 Composite Metric Honey Orange Factoryhelmet.
