Bel-Ray Race Report Houston TX

Courtesy of Bel-Ray
FARMINGDALE, NJ – February 15, 2011 – Bel-Ray Company, Inc.  – Bel-Ray Race Report-Houston SX

The 6th round of the Monster Energy Supercross series took place on Saturday night, February 12th at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

The Bel-Ray backed teams of Two Two Motorsports and Dodge/ Hart & Huntington Racing were both in attendance, looking to improve on their prior week’s performance. Additionally, Houston marked the first round of the east coast lites series with 3 Bel-Ray sponsored racers signed up to compete.

Timed qualifying started off well on the technical track with Two Two Motorsports’, Chad Reed setting the 9th fastest time with a 49.831, followed by Dodge / Hart and Huntington teammates, Ivan Tedesco in 13th with a 50.365 and Chris Blose in 18th with a 50.959. In lites class racing, Steve Roman was 30th fastest with a 52.760, followed by Ronnie Stewart in 45th fastest with a 53.676 and Frankie Lettieri was 47th fastest with a 53.874.

The night program got underway with Chris Blose taking a direct transfer to the main event via his 8th place in Heat #1, while in Heat #2 Reed was 2nd and Tedesco was 9th. With only the 40 fastest times qualifying for the night show, only Roman was able to make the cut. Unfortunately, he finished out of the qualifying position and wouldn’t make the main event.

The main event began with both Chad Reed and Chris Blose on the ground. Tedesco got caught up in the melee and was back about mid-pack. Once off the ground, Reed started working his way through the pack, picking off riders one at a time. Tedesco too was moving forward through the field. Once off the ground, Blose was circulating the track trying to shake off an injured arm. By the end of the race, Reed worked his way up to 6th, salvaging championship points. Tedesco ended the night in 9th and Blose finished the night in 18th.

The season points standing now have Reed in 4th, Tedesco in 9th and Blose in 15th.

The series heads back west this weekend for round 7 in San Diego, California.

Bel-Ray Race Report Anaheim 2

Courtesy of Bel-Ray

FARMINGDALE, NJ February 7, 2011 – Bel-Ray Company, Inc.  – – Bel-Ray Anaheim 2 Race Report

Round 5 of the Monster Energy Supercross Series took place in Anaheim on Saturday night, February 5th.  Dubbed “the Pink Race,” Anaheim 2 was designed to raise awareness and funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and both Bel-Ray teams took part, with special gear and bikes for the event.

The Bel-Ray backed, Two Two Motorsports changed from the familiar red on the bikes to a special pink plastic and graphics package that even extended to Chad Reed’s one-off pink and white gear for the event. The Dodge Motorsports Hart and Huntington team took part as well, presenting their familiar black bikes in a pink chrome color that extended to their helmets. They even had a special custom pink Dodge on display in their pit area.

Qualifying went well for the riders, with Two Two Motorsports’ Chad Reed setting the 7th fastest time with a 57.325, followed by Dodge Motorsports / Hart & Huntington teammates Ivan Tedesco in 12th with a 58.244 and Chris Blose in 21st with a 59.735.

In the first heat race, Tedesco finished 6th after tangling with Kevin Windham on the last lap. The second race saw Reed finish 4th and Blose 7th. For the 5th week in a row, all 3 Bel-Ray team racers would be in the main event.

The key to success on the challenging Anaheim track would be a good start. After the first turn, Reed sat in a top 5 spot, while both Blose and Tedesco were a bit further back. Reed was into third on the first lap and he rode a consistent main event, finishing third for the evening and achieved his second consecutive stop on the podium this season. Coming around the track after the first lap, Tedesco was up to 9th, but then dropped back to 13th. With a spirited ride through the pack, Tedesco would rise to 7th by the end of the main event. Blose was 18th after lap 1 and up as high as 15th before going down. He recovered for 17th by the end of the main event.

Reed’s podium finish bumps him to third in the season point’s standings, while Tedesco sits in 10th and Blose in 15th.

Bel-Ray Riders Return to Anaheim This Weekend

Courtesy of Bel-Ray

The Monster Energy Supercross series makes its way back to Anaheim this weekend for Round 5 of the 2011 season.

Last week in Oakland, was a breakout ride for Bel-Ray backed, Two Two Motorsports, Chad Reed. The multi-time Supercross winner found the podium for the first time this season, with an inspired second place finish after passing defending champion, Ryan Dungey in the last corner on the last lap.

Dodge Motorsports/ Hart and Huntington’s team rider, Ivan Tedesco was injured in a practice crash earlier in the day and was questionable for the evening part of the program. The gritty veteran toughed it out and was rewarded with a 10th place finish for his efforts. His teammate, Chris Blose had an excellent evening. After winning the last chance qualifier, Blose went on to finish right behind Tedesco for 11th in the main event.

As the series moves back to Anaheim for Round 5, all three Bel-Ray backed racers are in the Top 15 in the series’ point standings with Reed in 5th, Tedesco in 11th and Blose in 15th.

Follow all three riders’ success this weekend on Bel-Ray’s Facebook Page or Twitter Feed and on their website www.belray.com next week.
