AMA Outdoor Motocross Series, Round 5 – Lakewood, Colorado

The AMA Lucas Oil Motocross made stop number five this past weekend at Thunder Valley MX in Lakewood, Colorado for another great round of racing. The day started out strong with Andrew Short setting the second fastest qualifying time in the 450 practice. In the 250 class, it was Martin Davalos also setting the second fastest time during practice, giving both Fly riders great gate picks to start the motos.

450 Class Highlights

Fly riders Andrew Short, Weston Peick, Ben Evans, Kyle Regal, Josh Clark, and Terren O’Dell all qualified for Motos via timed practice, with Short setting the second fastest time. In Moto one, it was Honda Red Bull Racing’s Andrew Short with the holeshot and early lead. Short began to pull a slight lead until a lap five crash moved him outside the top ten, forcing him to charge his way back to an 8th place finish. Fellow Fly rider Kyle Regal was close behind, finishing 9th. Rounding out the top twenty for Fly racing was Weston Peick in 20th.

In Moto two it was once again Andrew Short with another holeshot setting him up for another great finish with a 3rd place, which was good enough for fifth overall on the day. Merge Racing/American Honda backed rider Kyle Regal also had a good second Moto finishing 6th, with Team Rock River Powersports rider Weston Peick riding to a 16th place finish.

Lakewood Race Report...Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki

Courtesy of Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki
Corona, Calif. – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s domination of the AMA Motocross Series 250 class continued at Thunder Valley Raceway in Lakewood, Colo. Christophe Pourcel gave the team its fourth straight overall win and Dean Wilson’s third place result also gave the team its fourth straight double podium. Tyla Rattray just missed the podium finishing fourth overall while Jake Weimer was 17th.

Pourcel was once again the class of the field in qualifying, posting a lap nearly two seconds quicker than his nearest competitor. Weimer was third fastest and looked to turn his luck around with a good gate pick in the motos. Rattray qualified eighth and Wilson qualified 11th.

In the first moto Pourcel launched out to the holeshot on the long uphill start and never looked back as he led wire-to-wire to earn his fifth moto win of the year. Right behind him was his teammate Wilson who kept the pressure on while running in second for the entire moto. Rattray was sixth after the first lap and slowly made his way into fourth. While there wasn’t a lot of passing going on up front, Weimer was putting on a clinic as he moved up through the field. After trouble on the first lap, Weimer was 36th and looking to salvage a good finish. By the end of the fourth lap he had made 16 passes and was sitting in 20th. He wasn’t done though as he continued to move up through the pack ending up 10th.

"Being on the podium is awesome," said Wilson. "That is where I want to be every week. Getting second in the first moto was what I needed to run a relaxed second moto."

When the gate dropped for the second moto, there was a familiar cast of lime green Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s near the front with all four riders in the top seven positions at the end of the first lap. Wilson led the way in third with Rattray fourth, and Pourcel fifth. On the second lap, Weimer again found trouble and dropped all the way back to last in 39th. Pourcel made his way through his teammates by lap five and began stalking the leader. He would take the lead on lap 10 with Wilson running third and Rattray fourth. Weimer again put in a charge moving up through the back of the pack again to finish 24th. During the two motos, Weimer passed an amazing 41 riders.

"I got a good start in both motos," said Pourcel. "I always want to feel good on the track and when I do, I can make it happen and get the win. It was rough for the races, I think I liked the night race here better because the track was very smooth and easy."

The team now heads to Red Bud for the traditional Fourth of July event with Pourcel, Wilson and Rattray still holding the top three spots in the standings.

Lakewood Race Report...Troy Lee Designs Racing

Courtesy of Lucas Oils/Troy Lee Designs Racing
AMA Motocross - Lakewood, CO

Round six of the Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Nationals marked a milestone for the TLD race team. Ben Townley finally got the monkey off his back by finishing second at the Thunder Valley facility. His result marked the first podium for the team in the premier class and Ben's first podium on a 450 as well. His teammate Cole Seely had the best finish of his young career with a ninth overall in the 250 class. Tarah Gieger struggled with bad starts and crashes and ended her podium streak with a seventh overall.

In the first 450 moto Ben nearly had the holeshot but settled into second around turn one. Ben lost his front end in a wet turn a couple laps later and would fall back to seventh. He put on a charge to get back to the front and tipped over again in a corner. This fall would really take the kiwi out of his rhythm and he could only get back to sixth at the finish. He was less than pleased with his moto one result. Moto two started with Ben in third place off the start. This time Ben was patient and took his time in the opening laps as he followed Dungey and Short around the course. Ben eventually made a move around Short and opened a comfortable cushion over the fellow Honda rider. BT rode a steady race to the checkers for second and second overall on the day.

"This feels really good to be up here," said Townley from the Thunder Valley podium. "It's been a long time since I've been up here and I feel like it has been a long time coming for me. With the injuries I've had it has certainly been a long, difficult road and this finish takes a huge weight off my shoulders. I can't thank the whole Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda team enough for their support. We've been making progress every weekend and I think things are just going to keep getting better."

Cole Seely has yet to have the results outdoors that he is capable of. Cole got off to a terrible start in moto one but quickly worked his way into the top ten. Once he got into ninth he was all alone with nobody in front or behind him and he settled into a nice pace for ninth, the best finish of his career. He followed that moto up with another terrible start in moto two. Again, Seely put his head down and started chipping away at the deficit in front of him. He made it to tenth and then tipped over in a rutted corner, losing two spots before he could remount. He charged forward again and made a pass for eleventh only to have that rider cut under him and knock him down again. He made yet another run at his assailant but ran out of time and finished in twelfth and earning ninth overall.

"I feel like I'm definitely making progress," said Seely. "My fitness hasn't been where it needs to be but it is definitely coming around. Now I just need to put all the pieces together and get a start, ride hard and hold the pace. I'm looking forward to Red Bud to see if I can continue to improve my results."

Tarah Gieger started way back in the opening moto of the WMX race. She made a good run to the front and was in third when a crash set her back. She remounted and moved up to fourth at the finish. Moto two looked good as Tarah started in second position. Before she could make a run at the lead she flew off the track at the bottom of the downhill and went down. She made a great run forward only to be knocked down by one of the more aggressive gals in the race. She would only get back to seventh and have to settle for seventh overall.

The team will now head to Red Bud, Michigan for one of the best events of the summer at the Red Bud Track and Trail Facility over the fourth of July. Come by and get a team poster and an autograph from Ben, Tarah and Cole this weekend in Michigan.

Lakewood Race Report...Dna Shred Stix?Star Racing Yamaha

Courtesy of DNA Shred Stix /Star /Racing Yamaha
Lakewood, CO - The AMA MX National Series rolled into the beautiful state of Colorado to attend round five at Thunder Valley MX Park. DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha continues to progress, fielding #20 Broc Tickle, #48 Max Anstie, #577 Martin Davalos and #2 Jessica Patterson. For the first time in two years this race was held without racing under the lights, combined with altitude and heat the race once again brought new elements and possibilities. In timed qualifying Davalos and Tickle established themselves as factors by setting the 2nd and 5th best times leading into the event.

The big highlight came out of Tickle in moto one, coming out of the first turn in 11th; he then began to apply some pressure to the competitors ahead on lap two. Riding at his best and moving into 8th, Tickle continued to hold the pace of the leaders through the halfway mark which enabled him to capitalize on other competitor’s mistakes. At this point he showed strength by finding his lines and breaking away with the top five. With three laps remaining, Tickle had 4th place in his sights, but he couldn’t capitalize as he still marched on to a 5th place finish. Also in moto one, the rest of the Star squad all came out pretty well with Davalos riding strong in 8th, and Anstie all but had 10th sewn up before a last lap mistake that shifted him back to 12th.

In moto two, it was Davalos and Tickle who acquired decent starts and continued on riding outstandingly through the race. Early on Davalos paced himself in 11th, until lap three when he put on a sprint and took over 7th. Meanwhile, Tickle raced up to the back of his teammate by the mid way point, and applied heavy pressure. After making the move on Davalos, Tickle went after fifth place. Once Tickle bridged the gap, he made several attempts to pass for fifth, unsuccessful and being held up by a lapper caused him to lose some steam and have a need for regrouping. Fortunately, in the closing stages of the moto, Tickle and Davalos kept it together, allowing them to net finishes in 6th and 8th. Also riding consistently, Anstie fell down early on, only to gather himself late in the race and go on to notch 19th.

Results:
Moto 1 Moto 2 = Overall Finish
Broc Tickle 5th 6th = 6th
Martin Davalos 8th 8th = 7th
Max Anstie 12th 19th = 16th

The WMA series returned to action over the weekend, with Jessica Patterson picking up just where she left off. In moto one Patterson took the lead on the first lap and put her head down, having the confidence and team behind her took Jessica to a 23 second lead and eventual win. Moto two went off under a bad rain storm adding to the difficulty, but for Patterson it wasn’t an issue. Grabbing the holeshot, she rode off to yet another win to keep the undefeated season intact. This was a big win for JP$ because in the past she hasn’t had the best of finishes at this race.

Supercross is an excellent showcase for FIM motor sports and the number of its fans grows every year, as their appetite to see Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship events go worldwide. This is also the FIM's wish. We know Feld Motor Sports is working hard on that for the future and we are pleased to see that the 2011 calendar counts another 17 events."

"Since the early 1970s, AMA Supercross has provided the stage, and the best motorcycle racers in the world have delivered the talent, to create one of the most exciting championship series on two wheels," said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. Reigning Monster Energy Supercross champion Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., will defend his championship in 2011 after becoming the youngest rider in history to be crowned AMA Supercross class champion.

"Anaheim 1 is probably the biggest and most anticipated race we have in our sport, but I like San Francisco, Atlanta, St. Louis, and Indy because they are better suited to my style," said Dungey. "The crowds are big in all of those cities, the towns are cool and the tracks are great, but I am a racer, so I am ready to go wherever they line us up at. I have to prepare for a long season that is 17 races in 18 weeks; it is grueling on your body and mind. I experienced that last year and know a little more now what to expect. And with the return of James (Stewart), Chad (Reed), and Ryan (Villopoto), it should be a good one that hopefully goes down to the wire."

Colorado Race Report...Ben Townley

Courtesy of Ben Townley MX
Lucas Oil – Troy Lee Designs – Honda racer, Ben Townley has successfully scored his first overall podium of the season at round 5 of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross championship held in Denver Colorado. The gutsy New Zealander posted a 6-2 score for second overall and now has his sights set on his first AMA Motocross victory.

Townley had one of his best starts of the season in moto 1 and was positioned in 2nd behind fellow Honda rider Andrew Short. BT hit a wet patch of circuit going into a turn and lost his front, sending him to the ground. He quickly remounted around 10th and gave chase and quickly moved up the ladder again. After securing 4th position BT hunted down Brett Metcalf in 3rd spot and was about to make his move on the Australian when he went down again. Remounting for the second time, he salvaged 6th position but ran out of time to make a move on Kyle Cunningham and Metcalf as he closed them down on the final lap.

Determined not to make the same mistakes again, Townley was motivated going into moto 2 and once again grabbed a good start. He quickly moved from 4th to 3rd and then set up Andrew Short to move into second behind series leader Ryan Dungey. From there he rode a strong, steady race which earned him a well deserved podium and second overall for the day.

"I felt really good in the first moto but then washed out on the first lap. I came back really strong and was looking for a podium spot when I went down again behind Brett and that pretty much took the wind out my sails. I’m over these small crashes and mistakes but guess when you are pushing that hard these things can happen, but in the second moto I sort of backed it down a little and it paid off with a podium which is great for my confidence and for the team." explained Townley.

Townley still occupies 7th spot in the overall standings however the Kiwi is only a mere 16 points off second place Brett Metcalfe with Ryan Dungey sporting a 51 point over the Australian as the series hits the halfway mark next weekend in Red Bud – Buchanan, Michigan.

Lakewood Co Race Report...American Suzuki

Courtesy of
Ryan Dungey won his fourth overall in a row on Saturday at the Thunder Valley National in Colorado, and has won six of the last eight motos.
-Dungey now leads the 450 class by 51 points and has led the most laps so far in the series.
-The Suzuki fuel-injected RM-Z450 handled the altitude and the track like a true champion.

Brea, Calif. – Four overall wins in a row out of five races has put Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey in command of the 450 class championship chase. Dungey went 2-1 at the Thunder Valley AMA Pro Motocross on Saturday, taking the overall and putting himself even further ahead of the competition on the race to the title. Dungey and his RM-Z450 were well tuned and fully prepared to race, and they have now won six of the last eight motos.

Dungey started the day by proving that his Suzuki fuel-injected RM-Z450 was well equipped for the thin air. Dungey got a great jump off the gate and was immediately in second place and staring down the leader. Ryan followed until the chance to take over the lead presented itself, and he didn’t hesitate to take over the top spot. With pressure from another racer right behind him, Dungey focused on running his own race. By the time the checkered flag fell, Dungey was again in second place.

In the second moto, Dungey followed the formula that’s been working for him this year: get a good start and let no one stand in the way of the finish line. Dungey’s RM-Z450 rocketed him out of the starting gate. He found himself in second place again at the start of the battle, but by the third lap Dungey had made his move to take over the lead. To win the overall Dungey would have been fine to stay in second, but the 2010 Supercross Champ likes to win. Ryan pulled away from the pack and put more than 13 seconds between him and the other racers by the time the moto was finished.

"Today it took an entire team effort to get the win," Dungey said after the race. "I got a good start in Moto 1 but I didn’t have that extra step and ended up second. We went back to work and made a couple key adjustments to the bike, which ended up making all the difference. Goose, Roger, Ian, and Adam and Scott at Showa have been working really hard this year and it’s showing in the results."

Throughout the day, Dungey’s outstanding fitness and the unrivaled reliability of his RM-Z450 remained strong. With his great moto finishes, Dungey took the overall in Colorado, which makes it four straight for the 20-year-old rookie. "We have won four in a row but now is not the time to let up and get complacent," Dungey said. "Red Bud is a track where we haven’t been able to put it together in the past, so we’re going back to work this week to get ready."

Dungey’s teammate Matt Moss was hoping to have his breakthrough race in the tough conditions of Colorado. With the altitude and heat, Moss was able to wrangle 28-19 moto finishes to put himself in 22nd overall. He also was awarded the Recovery Award, which gives him $500 and recognition for his fight to come back after an injury sidelined his entire Supercross season.

The Rockstar Makita Suzuki team is already hard at work preparing for Round 6 of the AMA Pro Motocross series on July 3 at the spectacular Red Bud track in Buchanan, Michigan. Dungey will be looking to keep his winning streak alive and put himself in further control of the 450-class championship.

Russian Debut for Red Bull X-Fighters

Russian Debut for Red Bull X-Fighters

(Moscow) June 25, 2010 - Just weeks after the spectacular FMX showdown under the gaze of the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt, the 2010 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour is set to celebrate yet another premiere as it touches down on Moscow’s famous Red Square. The 12 best FMX riders in the world will come together in the heart of the Russian capital’s famous old town on Saturday, June 26 to battle it out head to head as the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour hits Russia for the first time.

Preparations for the third stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2010 on Red Square in the heart of Moscow have completed, with the kickers and landing hills moved into place in front of St. Basil's Cathedral, with Lenin’s Mausoleum and the walls of the Kremlin just beyond the world-famous colored onion domes in anticipation of the world’s best FMX riders. More than 40,000 spectators are expected to pack the famous square, which was named a World Heritage Site in 1990.

To prepare for his first Red Bull X-Fighters appearance, Russian rider Alexey Kolesnikov made history at his training compound in Kolomna by becoming the first freestyle motocross athlete in history to jump a bike over a flying truck. Despite strong winds, Kolesnikov threw several different tricks over nine-ton Kamaz truck driven by 2010 Dakar Rally winner Vladimir Chagin of Russia, including a huge backflip off the kicker. See attached images.

After two of the six stops making up the World Tour 2010, it is the winner of the season opener in Mexico, Norway's Andrè Villa, who leads the overall standings. However, the rest of the international FMX elite is in hot pursuit, with 2009 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Champion Nate Adams just 35 points behind Villa in second, while fellow American rider Adam Jones will be hoping to recapture the form that gave him a surprise win in Egypt.

Double backflip legend Cameron Sinclair is fit again after his horrifying crash last year in Madrid and will be looking to mix it again with the best in the world in Moscow. Also returning will be Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour winner 2008 Mat Rebeaud of Switzerland, who suffered a heavy fall during training for the World Tour 2010 that forced him out of the first two stops of the season. Last but not least, Spanish wunderkind Dany Torres is also back. Torres rode the first stop of the season in Mexico City’s bullfighting ring with a broken arm, forcing him to land several tricks one-handed. An operation meant he had to watch from the sidelines in Egypt, but the fans’ favorite is back and raring to go in Moscow.

The event begins at 8.30 p.m. local time. After stops in Madrid on July 22-23 and London on August 14, the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Champion will be crowned at the season finale in Rome on October 1.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the eighth member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2010: Eyvind Boyesen, one of the most accomplished two-stroke engine tuners in motorsports. Boyesen, whose skills in the garage translated into success in the marketplace, will be among the legends of motorcycling honored at the 2010 induction ceremony at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas on Nov. 19.

"Eyvind developed many of his innovations in an era of great change in performance off-road motorcycling, and in the process joined other AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers in becoming a household name in the sport," said AMA Director of Operations and Hall of Famer Jack Penton. "Both everyday riders and national champions alike used Boyesen's products over the years, and many more will in years to come."

Although Boyesen Engineering has long since branched into other areas of innovation, off-road racers in the 1970s through the 1990s knew Boyesen products through marketing of the company's aftermarket performance reeds. Boyesen's reeds set the standard as one of the leading aftermarket replacement parts of the two-stroke era, and often were one of the first modifications racers made to a new machine.

"Growing up on the local scrambles and motocross tracks in eastern Pennsylvania during the early 1970s, racers knew one thing: If you wanted a power advantage over your competitors, you needed a Boyesen Power Reed," said Douglas Strange, chair of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Ambassadors & Industry committee and an honorary member of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America. "It was like a magic elixir that would put your bike on the box. Boyesen Engineering's reputation continued to grow as his business expanded, and every racer's toolbox had a Boyesen sticker on the lid. Now, nearly 40 years later, I'm still impressed with Eyvind Boyesen's commitment to the sport and industry, and his insight to solve problems and bring these new products to the marketplace."

Boyesen founded Boyesen Engineering in 1972 in Lenhartsville, Pa., and built a worldwide reputation as a two-stroke engine expert. In addition to his reed-valve innovations, Boyesen is also known for a special porting technique that has been used in motorcycle, snowmobile and watercraft two-stroke engines. He also has refined methods of water pump design and developed enhanced accelerator pump operation used in four-stroke carburetion. Boyesen holds more than 40 patents for the aftermarket motorcycle industry, and his company continues to thrive today.

"To be honest I was rather surprised at hearing the news of the induction," Boyesen said. "I immediately thought, 'Who would have nominated me?' I will say that my career has been balanced by my ability to do what I truly love. To this day I will always remember the first time I saw a motorcycle. It was magical. As many that have achieved any level of success (big or small), I am very fortunate to be able to contribute to this sport and industry."

Boyesen joins previously announced members of the AMA Hall of Fame Class of 2010: championship team owner Mitch Payton, AMA 250cc Roadrace Champion David Emde, off-road rights activist Clark Collins, dirt-track racer Don Castro, off-road gear pioneers John and Rita Gregory, and sidecar roadrace champion Larry Coleman. The final 2010 inductee will be announced soon.

The Class of 2010 will officially be inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame on Nov. 19 as part of the AMA Legends & Champions Weekend. In addition to the induction ceremony, the weekend includes the 2010 AMA Concours d'Elegance on Saturday, Nov. 20, featuring some of the country's most impressive original and restored classic motorcycles. The AMA Racing Championship Banquet closes out the weekend on Sunday, Nov. 21, where AMA Racing amateur champions of all ages will be recognized for their 2010 accomplishments.

The AMA Legends & Champions Weekend also includes the final round of the Geico Powersports AMA Endurocross National Championship Series on Saturday evening, Nov. 20. Ticket packages for the AMA Legends & Champions Weekend will also include access to the race, held at The Orleans Arena.

The AMA Legends & Champions Weekend will be held at the Las Vegas Red Rock Resort, a world-class spa, hotel and casino, featuring a range of entertainment, dining and family-friendly attractions. The facility's expansive ballrooms will provide a stunning backdrop for the AMA Legends & Champions Weekend, which is certain to be memorable for the 2010 inductees, champions, families, friends and fans. More information is available online at RedRockLasVegas.com.

Lodging reservations can be made now at AmericanMotorcyclist.com/Accommodations. An announcement regarding ticket information will be made soon.

Located on the park-like campus of the AMA in Pickerington, Ohio, the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made lasting contributions to protecting and promoting the motorcycle lifestyle. Its members include those who have excelled in racing, road- and off-road riding, pushed the envelope in motorcycle design, engineering and safety, and championed the rights of riders in both the halls of government and the court of public opinion.

The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Committee includes nine members in addition to the chairman. There are eight committees, each representing a different aspect of motorcycling.

More information about the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame can be found at MotorcycleMuseum.org.

Washougal MX Park Celebrates 30 Years of American Motocross with Motosport.com Washougal Retro National

Courtesy of MX Sports
MORGANTOWN, W.V. (June 22, 2010) - For three decades, the Pacific Northwest has been a staple of American motocross and to celebrate the 30 years of hosting an AMA-sanctioned outdoor national, Washougal Motocross Park and MX Sports Pro Racing announce the inaugural retro-themed event at the famed Southern Washington track. On Saturday, July 24, the Motosport.com Washougal Retro National, round eight of the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, will commence with the world's best riders continuing their battle for the most prestigious motocross championship in the world.
As the original action sport, motocross has become one of the fastest growing forms of motorsport in the country and for nearly 40 years, American motocross has been the stage for epic races and even greater memories. Throughout that weekend, vintage will be the name of the game at Washougal. Teams and riders will be in the retro spirit with vintage plastics adorning the motorcycles and "old-school" gear featuring the colors and patterns of decades past being worn by the world's fastest competitors.
"There isn't a better way to celebrate 30 years of Washougal Motocross than to host a retro national," said Washougal Motocross Park's Brian Barnes. "This race has such a strong history that the opportunity for the stars and teams of today to pay homage to the legends of the past was simply too good to pass up."
To celebrate the riders and bikes of decades past, Washougal Motocross Park will showcase an exhibition for the fans featuring several of the most well known riders in American MX history as well as the machines that have helped make this such a legendary event over the past 30 years.
A large collection of former race bikes will also be on display and Washougal Motocross Park will supply several displays recalling the illustrious history of the lone motocross national in the Pacific Northwest. Fans are also encouraged to lend their support to the retro national by wearing their very own vintage motocross apparel and bright colors that were so popular in the sport throughout the last three decades.
The stars of American motocross hit the track on Saturday, but the retro activities start Thursday and continue through Friday with the popular and competitive amateur days. Hundreds of the region's fastest and most passionate riders will take to the track before the pros and get the weekend off to a strong start.

Travis Preston Signs with RipXX

Courtesy of RipXX
SPRING HILL, Tenn. - Known as one of the most laid-back riders at the track; Travis Preston’s easygoing attitude and humorous nature give him an edge that fellow riders love. His lifestyle may seem relaxed and carefree, but the second his bike hits the track, "Presto" means business. This is why he trains with the Ripxx Personal Measurement Device.

Preston recently concluded his 12 year AMA professional racing career in 2009, but is nowhere close to exiting the racing world. He now offers rider clinics and training schools for amateur riders who have the drive to be better. When working with the up-and-coming riders Preston uses his secret training weapon - the Ripxx.

The Ripxx Personal Measurement Device is a small device about the size of a cell phone that can be attached to the rider by using the included holster. It contains a suite of sensors, along with a GPS tracking chip that records every move the athlete makes. Location, orientation, acceleration, velocity, altitude, air time, lap time, and number of jumps can all be measured. Following the run, Ripxx software enables the athlete to view his or her performance and results. This is what makes Ripxx so convenient for trainers like Preston.

Following a recent training session Preston said, "This product is a great training tool to use when working with different riders. I can actually pay attention to the riders on the track without having to keep up with multiple stopwatches."

Preston is currently training Daniel Baker; the 16-year-old rising star who along with Fly Racing and Oakley, is also sponsored by the Ripxx Racing Team. RJ Cook, the 11-year-old Loretta Lynn’s qualifier and Ripxx Racing Team member, is also one of Preston’s trainees. Preston’s experience and training ability is undoubtedly shining like a light through these riders, with much thanks to the Rippx device.

Training is one of the utmost strategies when it comes to excellent performance, and Preston understands exactly how it should work. He has been a strong partner in the development of the updated Ripxx software. Preston recommended a theoretical lap time to be included on the device, and Ripxx made it happen. The new application was recently launched.

Travis Preston is doing what it takes to stay on the cutting edge of mx technology. By using the Ripxx Personal Measurement Device, he is always one step ahead of the game. Training to be the best rider has never seemed so easy.
