NASCAR and Monster Energy Supercross World's Collide in Atlanta

Courtesy of Feld Motorsports

ELLENTON, Fla. - Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, and NASCAR® have teamed up to create the first-ever Monster Energy Supercross Holeshot Challenge at Saturday's annual visit to Atlanta's Georgia Dome on February 27. Fans will see Danica Patrick, the most prolific woman in auto racing history; six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson; 19-race Cup winner Greg Biffle; eight-race Cup winner Clint Bowyer; rising star Ty Dillon and two-time Xfinity Series Champion Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.; engaged in one of the most compelling elements of any Monster Energy Supercross race, the holeshot.

Monster Energy Supercross racers have long been recognized as some of the world's most well-conditioned and gifted athletes, particularly within the world of motorsports. NASCAR drivers are routinely enamored with the talents of the riders and serve as some of the Monster Energy Supercross' strongest supporters. On Saturday night, a handful of NASCAR's biggest names will experience first-hand what these athletes go through at the beginning of every race in a truly unique crossover event. The holeshot is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and important parts of each Monster Energy Supercross race, as the rumble of 22 bikes builds an unparalleled level of energy that culminates with riders exploding off the gate in a stampede towards the first turn. It's where races are often won and lost and proves to be a crucial piece to any rider's hopes for victory.

Patrick, who drives the #10 Stewart-Haas Racing car, will set the stage for the Holeshot Challenge by holding the 30-second board, while Johnson, driver of the #48 Hendrick Motorsports car, will occupy the important role of dropping the gate. Four additional drivers - HScott Motorsports' #15 Clint Bowyer, Richard Childress Racing's #3 Ty Dillon and Roush Fenway Racing's #17 Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and #16 Greg Biffle - will strap on a helmet, suit up in custom-designed gear and swing a leg over a motorcycle, and race from the start gates to the holeshot line to determine who is the fastest NASCAR driver on two wheels.

Reigning Monster Energy Supercross Champion and current points leader Ryan Dungey will host Stenhouse, while KTM provides him with a 250 SX-F. Dunlop will host Bowyer, who will ride a Kawasaki KXF 250, while KTM will support Dillon and provide a 250 SX-F for him to ride. In addition, Greg Biffle will ride a CRF250F provided by Freewheeling Motorposts of Douglasville, GA. The Holeshot Challenge will take place during intermission prior to the 450SX Class Last Chance Qualifier.

"Many of NASCAR's best drivers grew up racing motocross and have a deep appreciation for Monster Energy Supercross and what these athletes do on a weekly basis," said Todd Jendro, Vice President Operations - Two Wheel, Feld Entertainment. "The holeshot is one of the most important and intense aspects of the race, and the Holeshot Challenge is designed to illustrate that element in a fun and entertaining way."

Monster Energy Supercross and NASCAR will be engaged in race related festivities throughout the weekend as many more stars of stock car racing will be on hand to watch the world's best riders do battle inside the Georgia Dome starting Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET. On Sunday, February 28, Monster Energy Supercross' biggest names will watch the wave of the green flag at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in nearby Hampton, Georgia.

5-Hour Energy/HScott Motorsports #15 Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer offers, "This is an exciting and unique opportunity to return to my first passion in motorsports. My family traveled the country for many years chasing amateur national championships, and I've been a lifelong fan of Supercross. I actually went out and bought a bike to practice for this, and I hope some of those old reflexes come out to shine this Saturday night. It's going to be fun!"

The entire 2016 Monster Energy Supercross Championship will air live on FOX Sports, including two races on the FOX broadcast channel. In addition, the authenticated FOX Sports Go app will live stream each race.

As a precursor to the live television, don't forget to catch all of the pre-race coverage with Supercross Race Day Live presented by AMSOIL, which will stream on SupercrossLive.com from 12:50 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. local race time each Saturday during the season. TOUGH OUTING IN ARLINGTON FOR NAGY AND TEAM MICROBILT/PRBC SUZUKI

Courtesy of TEAM MICROBILT/PRBC SUZUKI

KENNESAW, GA. (Feb. 22, 2016) – Alexander Nagy has been making advancements week after week as substitute rider on the Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki RM-Z450 in Monster Energy AMA Supercross. It was almost inevitable in the high-risk and frenzied world of Supercross racing that there would be a tough weekend or two. At AT&T Stadium on Saturday, in Arlington, Texas, the law of averages caught up with the team and Nagy experienced his first sub-par performance of the season.

TOUGH OUTING IN ARLINGTON FOR NAGY AND TEAM MICROBILT/PRBC SUZUKI
Nagy was able to qualify for the evening program, putting the Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki in front of 57,755 fans in three qualifying races at AT&T Stadium, but Nagy’s 32nd place in timed qualifying was further down the charts than he was used to. On the bright side, Nagy was at least able to improve his times in his qualifying session by over a second from the first timed session.
Nagy’s heat race went off normally, but then a mechanical gremlin set him back.

“I qualified into the night show without much of a problem,” Nagy explained. “The heat race went well and then after that it just kind of went all downhill from there. I struggled with a lot of stuff in the semi. For some reason my rear brake didn’t work on the first lap, so I faded back pretty bad. I tried to regroup for the LCQ and couldn’t put it together.

“It was a pretty tough night. Definitely not one of my better rounds, but I’m looking forward to making Atlanta a lot better. My goal is to regroup from a tough weekend here in Dallas and improve on where I left off at in San Diego. To keep getting better and better single digit finishes in the LCQ.”
Lead MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki 450 rider Ronnie Stewart continues to rehab from his pre-season testing injuries. Nagy’s contract as fill-in rider for the team has been extended through the Daytona round.

The upcoming round in Atlanta will be an exciting weekend. It’s the opening round the 250 East Region Supercross Series and Vicki Golden is preparing for the start of that series, which kicks off this coming weekend, on Feb. 27 at the Georgia Dome. She’ll be making her riding debut with the team.

Look for the Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki squad next Saturday as the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season hits the halfway point with the championship's annual visit to Atlanta's Georgia Dome. The race can be watched live on Fox Sport 1 starting at 7:00 pm Eastern.

Consistent Rides for Pirelli Racers in the Lone Star State

Courtesy of Pirelli

ARLINGTON, Texas (USA) February 21, 2016 – The seventh round of the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, was held Saturday night inside AT&T Stadium just outside of Dallas. This was the first stop away from the west coast stadiums as the series’ makes its annual trek east.
Davi Millsaps and Weston Peick
BTO Sports/WPS/KTM’s Davi Millsaps put together a solid ride in 450SX Heat 1 battling from outside the top five to a third place finish, good enough for a direct transfer to the Main Event.
Pirelli racers dominated 450SX Semi 2 with Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha’s Weston Peick taking the win. BTO Sports’ Justin Brayton led the first two laps before closely following Peick across the line in third. JGRMX’s Phil Nicoletti finished in fourth and Brayton’s teammate, Andrew Short finished fifth, all earning spots on the line in the Main Event.
Nick Schmidt
After nearly leading the 450SX LCQ from start to finish, TPJ Racing’s Nick Schmidt narrowly missed out on the win as he crossed the finish line in second place. Privateer Alex Ray finished a couple of spots behind Schmidt in fourth, also securing his position in the Main Event.
Texas native Kyle Cunningham throttled his Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki to a strong top five result in 250SX Heat 1, moving on directly to the Main Event.
Peick was leading the Pirelli charge in the 450SX Main Event for a majority of the race after starting just outside of the top five. An unfortunate mechanical issue ultimately sidelined Peick with a handful of laps to go, crediting him with 21st place in the final standings.
Andrew Short
BTO Sports teammates Millsaps and Short both started in the middle of the pack. Millsaps steadily worked his way by riders en route to a seventh place finish while Short rode a steady race, crossing the line in 13th. Brayton rode hard the entire 20 laps as he crossed the finish line in 11th.
Nicoletti was the model of consistency in the 450SX Main Event. He started in 16th, strung together 20 solid laps before collecting his best finish of the 2016 season in 15th. Schmidt finished in 19th position, followed by Ray in 22nd.
Kyle
Cunningham
After starting well outside of the top-10, Cunningham went to work picking off riders in the 250SX Main Event. He would move into 16th position at the halfway point of the race and would hold onto that position until the checkered flag. Cunningham maintains ninth place in the overall 250SX West Region point’s standings.
Cunningham and the rest of the 250SX West Region racers will take the next six weeks off as the East Region racers take the stage.
The series ventures further east to Atlanta for the eighth round of Monster Energy Supercross inside the Georgia Dome on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

ROCZEN & SUZUKI BACK ON TOP AT TEXAS SUPERCROSS

Courtesy of Team Suzuki Press Office

RCH Soaring Eagle/ Jimmy John’s/ Suzuki Factory Racing’s Ken Roczen picked-up his second win of the season in Saturday night’s Monster Energy AMA/ FIM World Supercross Championship race at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Roczen and defending series champion Ryan Dungey waged a spirited duel throughout the 20-lap Main Event and when the chequered flag waved on the seventh race of 2016, the 21-year-old German came out on top, winning by the narrowest margin of victory this season.

Roczen picked-up his first Holeshot Award of the year and only yielded the point to Dungey once before snatching the lead back on lap two where he held down the top spot for the rest of the night.

Said Roczen: “I think I have more wins than Holeshot Awards. It was great to get that one. Me and Ryan (Dungey), we battled the entire time. He passed me. I passed him back. It was tough out there. We had some good traction and in some parts we had some slick spots. They had the triple. They had a little double on the inside that was really hard to make. You had to get a good lift and just land in that pocket and make it. It was tough. It was a good race. He was pushing hard. I was pushing hard and we won it. It (the track) was tight in certain spots. It made for some good racing. I hope the fans enjoyed it.”

With the win, Roczen picked-up three points on Dungey and now trails the current points leader and defending series champion by 23 heading into next weekend. The win was especially satisfying for the six-time Supercross winner after having struggled with the mechanics of his race starts for much of the first seven races.

“We won it,” added Roczen following his fifth straight podium and second win in three races. “We got the start. I think he (Dungey) was right behind me and we battled the whole way. My Soaring Eagle Jimmy John’s Suzuki got me off to a great start and that’s what we wanted and needed and we got it. The championship is still good. We only made-up three points but we’re going to keep fighting until Vegas, that’s for sure.”

Despite a 10th-place finish and his fourth top-10 of the season, Roczen’s RCH team-mate Jake Weimer was critical of himself following round seven. The Rupert, Idaho native struggled during practice and had to race his way in to the Main Event via the first of two 450SX semi-final races.

Still, the 2010 Western Regional 250SX Class Champion rode a smart Main Event, stayed out of trouble and brought home a respectable finish.

“I’m not happy but I’ll take it,” explained Weimer who held down his 10th-place position in the championship. “I’m getting to the point now where we’re testing some stuff and we’re figuring some things out and I show up expecting more out of myself. It has nothing to do with the team, it’s just me wanting to be better. I end up trying too hard and I end up stressed-out. It was kind of a weird day, and rough. I’m just trying to sort through it and build.

“I’ll take it, for sure. I’d just like to have a good day, the whole thing, which I haven’t yet. I would like to have a good day where I have three good practices before I get to the Main. If I can do that, I think it’ll help me by the time the night show comes around. So, I have some things to work on. We’ll try some different things during the week and work on getting better for Atlanta.”

Roczen, Weimer and the rest of the Monster Energy Supercross crew continue east this weekend when the series visits downtown Atlanta for its annual visit to the Georgia Dome for round eight of the 2016 Supercross Championship.

450 Class Results: 1 Ken Roczen (RCH Suzuki), 2 Ryan Dungey (KTM), 3 Jason Anderson (Husqvarna), 4 Cole Seely (Honda), 5 Eli Tomac (Kawasaki), 6 Marvin Musquin (KTM), 7 Davi Millsaps (KTM), 8 Christophe Pourcel (Husqvarna), 9 Trey Canard (Honda), 10 Jake Weimer (RCH Suzuki).

Ryan Dungey finishes 2nd at Dallas Supercross

Courtesy of KTM Racing

Ryan Dungey turned the fastest lap time on his KTM 450 SX-F in the afternoon sessions to earn him first gate pick in his heat. At the gate drop of the heat race, he came out in 6th position. He quickly moved into 3rd and would remain in that spot through the checkered flag to transfer into the main. Marvin Musquin earned a 7th place start in his heat and moved up as high as 4th place before suffering a crash. His crash sent him back to 8th where he finished the race. His result did not earn him a qualifying position and he had to go to the semi race.

Musquin earned a 2nd place start in the semi and held that position throughout the entire race. His runner-up position earned him a spot on the main event starting line.

Main Event
When the gate dropped for the main event, Dungey leaped off the line to a 2nd place start behind Ken Roczen. Musquin had a good jump but got pinched off and crashed in the first roller of the rhythm section. He quickly recovered but returned to the race in last position. Meanwhile, out front Dungey battled Roczen for the lead position. The two rider’s swapped positions twice in the opening laps before Dungey fell to 2nd. Dungey pressured Roczen for the entire race and had the crowd on their feet for the final lap. He was unable to make the pass and finished 2nd earning valuable points toward the championship chase.

“The track was really tough today,” stated Dungey after the race. “It was a fight until the end. I really tried to push hard at the end but couldn’t make that pass. It’s just part of racing but I’m glad to finish on the podium.”

Musquin was able to move from his last place start quickly through the pack. By the halfway point he had already moved into the top ten. A few laps later he had climbed up to 6th place where he finished the race.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jason Anderson and Zach Osborne Earn Podium Finishes at Arlington SX

Courtesy of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing

The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team looked motivated to make an impact at the seventh round of AMA Supercross, held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday.  Zach Osborne and Jason Anderson each earned heat race wins and impressive finishes in 250 and 450, respectively, while teammate Christophe Pourcel showed speed after qualifying third fastest in 450.

Jason Anderson wanted to focus on getting a great start after finishing outside the podium the past few races. After starting third in his heat, he threw his Husqvarna FC 450 in to the mix to fight for the win. He made the pass for the lead at the end of the first lap, and dominated the remainder of the race to earn his first heat race victory of 2016. Anderson knew he had some work to do after pulling a sixth-place start in the main. He stayed focused and was in fourth by the halfway mark before making the pass for the third-place podium position with five laps to go where he finished.

“The heat race win was a big deal for me,” said Anderson. “I’m usually not very good at those. I was probably in 80% of the semis last year, so to get that win tonight was awesome. I got a good jump in the main, but so did two other riders. I was able to go with them into the first turn and just stay there. I’m pumped because I got the start and then did what I was supposed to do with it. I do wish I could have started just a little farther ahead so I could have sprinted away with those guys, but being in the top five is a good goal for me. I feel like I’m in a good spot.”

Zach Osborne already had two 250SX West heat race wins under his belt, and he came out of the gate looking to earn another. After recouperating from a big crash in practice, he started second in his heat before quickly moved into the lead. He held strong to claim his third heat win this year. He pulled a fourth-place start in the main aboard his Husqvarna FC 250 and occupied the third-place position shortly thereafter. His consistency was rewarded with a spot on the podium after finishing third.

“I had a pretty big crash in the second practice,” said Osborne, “so I was a little nervous going into the night, especially because I hadn’t ridden all week. I got a great start in my heat race and won so that turned things around for me. I ended up on the podium in the main and was right in the mix. It’s definitely a good way to go into the break. I’m going to focus on getting my ribs healthy and then I’ll be back for more.”

Christophe Pourcel qualified third fastest in Arlington, and has qualified in the top seven every race so far this season. He started fifth in his heat before quickly moving into the lead. He was followed by a freight train of talent looking to make the pass for the top spot. He conceded the position with two laps to go and finished in second. Pourcel started ninth in the main and stayed within the top 10 range for the remainder of the race before advancing to the eighth-place position for the finish.

“There are so many good guys in this class,” said Pourcel. “I knew it would be tough. It’s probably the most stacked year ever. I just have to accept where I am, and it’s tough sometimes. I haven’t raced supercross in five years, and it’s kind of scary at times because everyone is so close to each other. You have to be aggressive to make a pass, which isn’t necessarily my style but I’m finally feeling confident to be more aggressive. I’m technically a rookie in this class, but I’m trying to adapt. I still think I made a big step tonight. The goal was to be in the top-10, and I did that so it’s good. I had the speed in practice and almost won a heat race. I think I finally proved that I can ride with those guys tonight.”

Gavin Faith Takes Over Arenacross Points Lead

Courtesy of Feld Motorsports

TAMPA, Fla. - An energetic crowd was on hand to witness AMSOIL Arenacross' return to Amalie Arena on Saturday night for the seventh round of the 2016 season. After championship leader Jacob Hayes was forced out of action for the night following a crash in practice, Team Babbitt's/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki's Gavin Faith took advantage of his teammates absence to earn his third overall win of the season with a sweep of the Arenacross Class Main Events, taking over the points lead in the process. In the Eastern Regional Arenacross Lites Class Main Event, TZR/Woodstock KTM's Cody VanBuskirk enjoyed the best outing of his career to claim his first ever win, while A&Y Racing Honda's Daniel Herrlein savored his first career title by clinching the Eastern Regional crown with a runner-up effort.

Faith raced to the holeshot to start the opening Arenacross Class Main Event, with TZR/Woodstock KTM's Travis Sewell and Rockstar Energy Drink Husqvarna Factory Racing presented by FCC and OTSFF rider Gared Steinke in tow. TiLUBE/Tuf Racing Honda's Jace Owen and Herrlein completed the top five. Team Babbitt's/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki's Chris Blose, who entered the night third in points, crashed in the first corner and then found himself on the ground again on the opening lap, starting 16th.

The lead trio went unchanged throughout the entirety of the 15-lap Main Event, with Faith gradually extending his lead each lap before taking the checkered flag two seconds ahead of Sewell. Steinke raced to a solid third-place effort, with Owen fourth and Custom Powersports/Slaka Wear Kawasaki's Steven Mages in fifth. Blose recovered from his early misfortune to finish 10th.
Sewell overcame misfortune in the second Main Event to secure second overall.

Faith then selected the inversion for the second Main Event and relied on the support of the Amalie Arena crowd to choose one of three cases, ultimately selecting the case with the number eight, meaning half the field would be inverted.

It was Sewell who edged out Faith to start the second Main Event, with Owen and Steinke battling for a spot on the podium right behind them. Sewell paced the field for one lap and then crashed out of the lead in the track's sand section, quickly remounting in fourth place. That allowed Faith to assume control of the race, with Owen second and Steinke third.

Once out front Faith never looked back, but it wasn't without persistent pressure from Owen, who stayed on the rear fender of Faith's Kawasaki all the way to the finish. Faith crossed the line less than a second ahead of Owen, while Sewell bounced back from his crash to grab the final podium spot from Steinke in third. Mages finished fifth.

Faith's triumphant 1-1 effort was his most impressive of the season and now gives him four Main Event wins this season. Sewell's resiliency in the second Main Event allowed him to finish second overall (2-3) while Owen's runner-up effort in the second Main Event (4-2) helped him edge out Steinke (3-4) for third overall, giving the Honda rider back-to-back podium results. Mages completed the top five (5-5).

In RMATV/MC Head 2 Head Challenge action, the Team Babbitt's duo of Blose and Faith did battle in the final pairing, with Blose taking the win along with the extra championship bonus point.
Faith win's helped him move back atop the Arenacross Class standings for the first time since the second race of the championship. He now has an 11-point lead over Sewell, who moved into second, while Hayes fell from first to third after missing out on the evening's action, 14 points out of the lead.
Herrlein is the 2016 Eastern Regional Arenacross Lites Class Champion.
Herrlein is the 2016 Eastern Regional Arenacross Lites Class Champion. ShiftOne
When the gate dropped on the 15-lap Eastern Regional Arenacross Lites Class Main Event it was TZR/Woodstock KTM's Scott Zont who emerged with the holeshot ahead of his teammate VanBuskirk and Team DirtBikeMike KTM's Brandon Marley. Behind them, the top two finishers a week ago, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM's Sean Cantrell and Herrlein, followed in fourth and fifth, respectively. Zont and VanBuskirk paced the field for the first handful of laps while Herrlein moved himself into podium position by Lap 3. On Lap 6 both VanBuskirk and Herrlein seized the opportunity to pass Zont, with VanBuskirk taking over the top spot and Herrlein following into second. The lead duo would then open a comfortable margin over the field and while Herrlein kept the pressure on VanBuskirk throughout the remainder of the race, the KTM rider fended off the pressure to take the win by just over a second. Cantrell finished third, taking over the position from Zont on Lap 7, with FCC Motorsports Yamaha's Brandon Hartranft rounding out the top five.
Herrlein has been dominant throughout the Eastern Regional Championship, capturing two Main Event wins and finishing off the podium just once. After starting the season in fourth, Herrlein took over the points lead at the second round in Baltimore and continued to extend his lead each race.

The 2016 AMSOIL Arenacross season will observe its first off weekend before returning to action from Omaha, Nebraska's CenturyLink Center on Saturday, March 5, for the penultimate race before the Race to the Championship. Racing begins at 5 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET.

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC to Sponsor the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship

Courtesy of Rocky Mountain ATV/MC

PAYSON, UT – Rocky Mountain ATV/MC is excited to announce that it will serve as a sponsor for the 6th Annual James Stewart AMA Freestone Spring Championship presented by Parts Unlimited and Thor. This begins a two-year agreement to support the event, representing a commitment that will help the Freestone Spring Championship be better than ever. The event will take place at Freestone Raceway in Wortham, Texas, on March 14-19, 2016. In conjunction with the sponsorship, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC will also offer each rider a $10 gift card through its Race Gas program, providing one more way to enhance the overall event.

The Freestone Spring Championship was started in 2011 and immediately distinguished itself by using a timed practice format to determine gate picks. It is one of the big five events that constitutes the “Majors” for American amateur motocross. As such, the event attracts many of the up-and-coming stars in the amateur scene. Past champions have included the likes of Cooper Webb, Jeremy Martin, Colt Nichols and Aaron Plessinger.

The Freestone Spring Championship represents some of the best amateur motocross riders and is a great opportunity to support the sport’s developing talent. 2016 marks the second year that Rocky Mountain ATV/MC has partnered with Freestone as a sponsor of the Spring Championship. It is proud to be the exclusive online retail sponsor of the event.

“We’re happy to be a sponsor of the Freestone Spring Championship,” said Dan Thomas, CEO and Founder of Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. “Supporting the sport is very important to us, and the Freestone Spring Championship is one of the best amateur motocross events out there. This is a great opportunity.”

In addition to supporting the event as a sponsor, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC will also provide one $10 gift card to each rider who races in at least one class. This is offered through the Race Gas program, which aims to help offset the cost of participating in events for amateur riders.

“It’s important for us to have partners like Rocky Mountain ATV/MC,” said Tom Shields, Event Director. “Any company can spend money to get their name out there with branding, but when Rocky Mountain wants to participate and interact with each and every rider, you know you have a partner and not just a sponsor.”

Online registration for the James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship is currently open until March 7. Please visit FreestoneMX.com for more details.

Team K1 Speed/BWR Engines/SSi Decals Adds Jeff Alessi

Freeport, Illinois - Six rounds into the Monster Energy Supercross season Team K1 Speed / BWR Engines / SSi Decals heads into Dallas with two new faces under the awnings. The Freeport, Illinois based team has added Cheyenne Harmon to replace reigning 250EMX Champion, Nick Kouwenberg, who returns to Europe to prepare for the upcoming season. Harmon will be aboard the #645 in the 250 division, with BWR Engines supplying the power.

In addition to Harmon, Team K1 Speed / BWR Engines / SSi Decals welcomes the #801of Jeff Alessi. The Victorville, CA native will continue the 2016 campaign by making the switch from Suzuki over to a K1 Speed / BWR Engines / SSi Decals Honda with a 450 powerplant being supplied by BWR Engines.

Brian White - Team Operator and Owner of BWR Engines
“So far this season, we have made leaps and bounds progress over last season. We are incredibly pleased with the product that we have put on the racetrack week in and week out. We are sad to see Nick head back to Europe, but at the same time, really excited to have Cheyenne on board. Adding Jeff to the program is a shot in the arm that is coming at just the right time; him joining Team K1 Speed / BWR Engines / SSi Decals is going to make our rider line up incredibly stout. As long as everyone stays healthy and the bikes continue to operate the way they have been, we’ll be seeing plenty more main events throughout the remainder of the season.”

Randall Hoppe - K1 Speed Advertising and Brand Marketing Manager
“The 2016 season is off to a pretty good start. We have been in the show a good handful of weeks and the guys are continuing to progress and making up more time on the track each and every week. As the series heads east, I know the team is going to come to life. It’s a bummer to have to see Nick head back to Europe. He is a really good rider and even a better person; we all wish him the best of luck and will be rooting for him here in the states. The addition of Cheyenne to the team is great, there is little to no drop off with him from Nick. Also, adding Jeff to the team is going to be great for us all. Jeff is really fast guy with a huge personality...it’s going to be great to have him around the rig.”

KTM Jr. SX Challenge Bikes To Use ProTaper Micro Handlebars
Irvine, CA February 16, 2016 — ProTaper is proud to announce a multi-year agreement with KTM’s Jr. Supercross Challenge (KJSC) program. ProTaper will launch its new Micro product line with the KJSC program at their home race, Round 7 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, just minutes away from ProTaper corporate offices at Tucker Rocky Distributing in Fort Worth, TX. All 17 identically prepared 2016 KTM 50 SX bikes will be equipped with ProTaper’s revolutionary Micro Handlebars, grips and throttle tubes, as well as ProTaper sprockets.
KTMJrSX-PhoenixSX2016_14290
“Kids’ hands are much smaller than adult hands, so why should they ride with the same size bars and grips as adults?” said ProTaper Brand Manager, Paul Perebijnos. The ProTaper Micro product line includes handlebars, grips, and throttle tubes that have been reduced in overall outer diameter to give youth riders controls that have been optimized for their smaller hands.
“The ProTaper Micro product line addresses a huge market void in such an important and prevalent category of off-road motorcycle riding — youth riders on 50cc and 65cc minibikes. The Micro product line is something very near and dear to my heart, as it took a ton of work to bring it to fruition. I’m beyond proud of our partnership with the KJSC program, and I’m very excited to witness the reactions of the KJSC participants after getting their chance to ride a bike with our new Micro handlebars.”
The KJSC program provides a platform for young minicycle riders to showcase their talents in stadium racing venues across the country as the half-time show of select rounds of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series. Young boys and girls are pre-selected for each of the 10 KJSC rounds and invited to compete on the very same track as their Supercross racing heroes. The program gives kids and parents a chance to experience what it’s like to be a “Factory Rider” for a day and immerse themselves in the excitement of Supercross from a very unique perspective, and to enjoy the sport as a fun and rewarding experience.
KTMJrSX-PhoenixSX2016_142BD
“I’m very excited for the future of the KJSC program with the addition of the ProTaper brand and their Micro product line,” said KTM Marketing Manager Christy LaCurelle. “Youth riders are the future of our sport and are very important to us here at KTM, so partnering with a brand like ProTaper, who have put their years of control innovation experience into a product specifically designed for kids, is invaluable to us. It is the perfect compliment to our KJSC participants.”
The very first glimpse of ProTaper’s new Micro product line on the KJSC minicycles can be viewed in person at Tucker Rocky’s Supercross Pre-Party, February 18th at 6pm at Tucker Rocky Corporate Headquarters (4900 Alliance Gateway Freeway, Fort Worth, TX 76177) for all Tucker Rocky dealers, employees and families. ELLENTONFla. (February 16, 2016) - Six races into the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season and one rider has enjoyed the best-ever start to his already celebrated career. With 144 of a possible 150 points this season, Dungey has achieved the most success of his career at this point in the championship. It's the fastest start for a rider since Chad Reed won five of the first six races in 2008 to earn 147 of 150 points.

Some key insights to watch heading into this Saturday night's race include:
  • Ryan Dungey earned his 26th career 450SX Class win in San Diego. It was his 22nd consecutive podium and 17th-straight race finishing within the top two.
  • Dungey can become the second-winningest rider in North Texas (Dallas/Arlington) history with another victory. He would tie James Stewart and Rick Johnson with three.
  • Cole Seely earned his best finish of the season with a second place. It was his second podium of the season and ninth career 450SX Class podium.
  • Ken Roczen earned his fourth-consecutive podium with a third place in San Diego. He now has 18 career podiums in 36 career 450SX Class starts, coming in right at 50%.
  • Jason Anderson earned his third straight fourth-place finish. He has a top-five finish in each race this season along with his season opening victory.
  • Trey Canard earned his first top five of the season with a fifth. It was his first start since the second Anaheim and his first top five since race 11 of 2015.
  • Andrew Short made his 2016 debut, his 124th career start. It was his 13th consecutive season with a start which ties him with Larry Ward, Jeremy McGrath, and Tim Ferry for fifth all time.
  • Joey Savatgy earned his second career 250SX Class victory in San Diego. He now has two wins, eight podiums, and 12 top-five finishes in his 22 career starts.
  • Webb now has 16 podiums in 23 career 250SX Class starts. The only active 250SX Class rider with more is Martin Davalos with 17 podiums in 65 starts.
  • The three points separating Savatgy and Webb with two races remaining is the closest margin in the 250SX Class since the 2011 Western Regional when Broc Tickle held a two-point lead over Josh Hansen with two races left.
Dungey has his fourth win of the 2016 season.

Last Saturday in San Diego, Dungey posted a wire-to-wire effort, grabbing the SupercrossLive.com Holeshot Award and leading all 20 laps of the Main Event. His laps-led total increased to 76, which is 63% of the total laps completed this season. It was also his second wire-to-wire performance in the last three races.

"I just tried to keep the pressure low the entire Main Event; keeping good traction with the rear tire was key," said Dungey. "I got a good start, which was huge in putting me in a position to win and I just tried to be consistent for all 20 laps. We had to overcome a few things today, but that's racing. I'm happy to be back on top of the podium."

In second was Team Honda HRC's Cole Seely, finishing on the podium for the first time in three races with a season-best effort. The result moved Seely to fourth in points, six points out of third.

"I've been in a funk these last two weekends, but I'm thankful for the dedication of my team to stick behind me. I feel a lot better on my bike," said Seely. "I really didn't make any mistakes, I just couldn't quite keep the pace with Ryan [Dungey]. It feels great to get back up here [on the podium]."

RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing's Ken Roczen finished third. Roczen sits second in the championship and although he faces a 26-point deficit in the standings, he's been the hottest rider in the class other than Dungey, finishing on the podium for four straight races, including one win.

"Tonight I have to be satisfied. I didn't win, but I didn't really feel comfortable on the bike today," said Roczen. "We salvaged third. Ryan [Dungey] finished in front of us, but we're leaving healthy with a good result."

Savatgy took over the points lead with his win at Petco Park.

In the Western Regional 250SX Class, Savatgy entered San Diego knotted with Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha's Cooper Webb atop the standings. It appeared as though the two riders might battle one another for the win, but a tip-over by Webb in the early stages of the race while trying to track down Savatgy meant the Kawasaki rider would race his way to an unchallenged victory.

"It feels great to get another win," said Savatgy. "Cooper [Webb] tried to take credit away from my first win, so it feels great to get another one. I'm just so excited to be back here and in the points lead."

Webb was able to rebound from his early misfortune and finished second. He's just three points behind Savatgy and still has the most wins in the class, but has not in three races.

"I just tucked the front end. Just a mistake by me," explained Webb. "I was able to get up and not lose too much time. It was early in the race so I was able to get those spots back. I just need to stop crashing."

Rounding out the podium was GEICO Honda's Christian Craig, following up his first career win the week prior with a third-place effort. Craig now has the longest podium streak in the class, which now sits at four races. He remains third in the points and sits 16 points out of the lead.

Last year in Arlington, Dungey earned his second win of the season, grabbing the holeshot and leading all 20 laps. In the opening race of the Eastern Regional 250SX Class, Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin joined his teammate Dungey atop the podium.
