Payson, UT (July 2, 2018) – At the halfway point of the season, round six of the 2018 Pro Motocross Championship series headed to the only sand track on the circuit at the Wick 338 in Southwick, MA. The heat didn’t faze Team RMATVMC-KTM-WPS, as Blake Baggett kept on the gas for 4th overall, Benny Bloss used his speed for 6th, and Dakota Alix made his return to racing.

Blake Baggett was ready to fight at the front, as he took to the Southwick sand and posted the third-fastest time of the morning. With his good gate pick, he launched off the start with full force and led the field into the first turn. After jockeying for position, Blake settled into his rhythm and took 3rd early on. He continued his charge, and the Engine Ice-supported rider took the checkered flag in 4th place.
The start of moto 2 was a repeat of the first, as Blake used the power of his FMF Racing exhaust to lead the field into the first turn. With track conditions at their most challenging of the day, BB4 slid outside the top five early on before putting on a charge and fighting his way back to finish in 4th place. Blake’s 4-4 score earned him 4th place overall, and he continues to hold down 5th place in championship points.
“The track was demanding,” said Baggett. “I had two good starts and got into my rhythm out there. I gave it my best effort, but I came up a bit short. We will regroup and go after a podium at RedBud next weekend.”
In moto 1, Benny Bloss started outside the top ten after the first lap. It took only two laps for Bloss to find his flow in the sand and push inside the top ten. Keeping his speed up, the ODI-supported rider charged to just outside the top five, finishing the moto in 6th place.
A better start in moto 2 allowed Benny to battle inside the top ten early on. The DT-1-supported rider used every bit of the track as he battled his way to another 6th place finish. Benny’s 6-6 score earned him 6th place overall, and he continues to hold down 7th place in the championship points.
“I’m happy with my ride today,” said Bloss. “My speed was there all day. We will do some work this week and come out strong at RedBud.”
Dakota Alix put on his Fly Racing gear and lined up for the first time since Glen Helen. In 250MX moto 1, Dakota fought inside the top 20 early on. After having issues, Dakota slid back into the field. He mounted an impressive charge from outside the top 20 to work his way up to 14th by the moto’s end. In the second moto, Dakota kept the pace and finished inside the top twenty in 19th, giving him 18th overall on the day.
Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS will spend the 4th of July weekend at one of the more popular tracks on the circuit, RedBud MX in Buchannon, MI, for round seven of the 2018 Pro Motocross Nationals.
