BLAZUSIAK BACK TO HIS BEST WITH 2018 SUPERENDURO OPENER WIN

Courtesy of KTM

Rnd 1, SuperEnduro 2018 – Krakow, Poland
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Taddy Blazusiak has made a triumphant return to racing, claiming victory at the opening round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in Poland. The six-time world champion showed he’s lost none of his speed despite a year’s absence to claim the overall win in Krakow. Making it a memorable night for KTM, FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Cody Webb followed him home for the runner-up overall result.

Announcing the SuperEnduro series opener as his return from retirement, Blazusiak hammered home a 2-2-2 scorecard in front of his home crowd to end the night as the overall winner.

With near-perfect starts, Blazusiak initially took the lead in each of the night’s three races. Due to a lack of competitive time on the bike, Taddy slowed towards the end of the motos. But by holding on for a second, his trio of runner-up positions was enough to secure the top step of the overall podium.

Blazusiak: “It’s an amazing feeling to come back and win, especially in my hometown of Krakow. To be honest, I played it smart tonight. After being away from racing for a whole year I knew the intensity of SuperEnduro was going to be tough – it’s so difficult to prepare for, no matter how hard you train. I was suffering from arm-pump today but I think the secret is being comfortable with being uncomfortable. Before my retirement, I won everything that I wanted to win, so to be able to come back for another go gives me the chance to enjoy my racing. The next round in Riesa is the only other round I have ridden already, the rest will all be new so that makes a nice challenge. I came back to enjoy my racing and now I’m going into the next round with the red plate — I couldn’t be happier."

Offering Blazusiak the closest challenge in Poland, Webb joined him on the podium as runner-up. Claiming two race wins, Webb showed he was more than a match for Blazusiak. However, a bad race two put paid to him wrestling the overall victory away from the Polish rider.

Webb: “It’s awesome to be back racing in Europe again. I had some amazing battles out there tonight. The second race didn’t go so well, the reversed start caught a lot of us out. I managed to claw my way back to fifth, but it wasn’t quite enough. I rode great in the other two races, even after making a couple of mistakes. I had some great battles with Taddy, it’s good to see him riding so well. I had the speed to reel him in, so that’s nice to know. I’m happy to be back and looking forward to fighting for the rest of the series.”

For Jonny Walker, the series opener in Poland did not get off to the best of starts. Third in race one, Walker then found himself the victim of a first corner pile-up in races two and three. He ended his night seventh overall.

Walker: “I didn’t feel comfortable at all tonight. My thumb was giving me some discomfort, but overall, the track didn’t suit me so well and I couldn’t get into a good rhythm. I’ll put it down to experience and move on.”

The FIM SuperEnduro World Championship continues with round two in Riesa, Germany on January 6th 2018.

Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship Returns to Daytona International Speedway on March 11 and 12Event to be Held in Conjunction with Daytona Beach's Bike Week Activities
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (December 8, 2017) - MX Sports is pleased to announce that online registration is now open for the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross (RCSX), sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). For the ninth year, Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida will host the biggest two-day amateur Supercross event in the world. Amateur racing will kick off Sunday, March 11 after Saturday night's Daytona Supercross, with the finals continuing on Monday, March 12.
With 36 years of experience operating the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch, MX Sports always looks forward to producing this special two-day amateur supercross event at the World Center of Racing, Daytona International Speedway. Unlike the Loretta Lynn Amateur National format, riders do not need to qualify to participate at the event.
"Daytona International Speedway is rich in tradition with the obvious largest and most prestigious NASCAR automobile race, but also the Daytona Supercross," said Director of MX Sports, Tim Cotter. "The hallowed grounds of Daytona International Speedway will host the most outstanding amateur riders for the 2018 Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross."
The class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days.

"This event provides the perfect time for me to re-connect with the up-and-coming amateur racers, their families and fans. Of course, we can't forget how much fun it is to watch the guys and girls battle it out on the track on their journey to a number one plate."
Amateur riders and their families are encouraged to come down early and camp on the Daytona infield where hookups are available. Move-in, check-in and camping begins on Friday, March 9, so amateur families can watch the pros compete on Saturday night at the legendary Daytona Supercross.

The ninth annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship will take place Sunday, March 11 through Monday, March 12 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Monday's main events will return to RacerTV.com for live broadcasts, giving race fans across the world the opportunity to tune in and watch their favorite amateur racers battle for a number one plate.
RCSX will once again serve as the opening round of the American Motocross Majors, which is composed of five premier amateur motocross events in the United States. This event will include OEM support, rider contingency, along with the industry's leading companies in attendance following the pro racing action. In addition, many long-time sponsors will provide on-site activation and support throughout the two-day event.
Ricky Carmichael's Spring National Prep Camp is set to take place the week before RCSX, March 5-9. The camp offers a unique opportunity for participants to learn from Ricky Carmichael at his personal track featuring curriculum from Carmichael's Riding Program. "The AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship continues to be the most prestigious amateur motocross program in the world," said AMA Motocross Manager, Ricky Rickords. "We have diligently worked with our promoting partner, MX Sports, to ensure the schedule features the best tracks in the country when it comes to amateur racing. We will now shift our attention to working with each organizer to provide the best race experience possible at each of these events."
This year's lineup once again includes the many National-caliber tracks that have become such an integral part of the Road to Loretta's. From the historic Unadilla MX and High Point Raceway in the Northeast, to Washougal in the Northwest, these National tracks offer amateur racers a chance to race on the same track as professionals in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross circuit. The tour will also return to many other favorites such as the Southeast's Muddy Creek Raceway, RedBud MX in the Mid-East and Thunder Valley MX Park in the South Central region. The much anticipated Glen Helen Raceway Park facility returns to the schedule for the Mid-West Region, in addition to Spring Creek MX Park hosting the North Central Amateur Regional Championship.
Brand new additions to the 2018 Area Qualifier schedule include New York's Walden Motocross and MX 207 Maine in the Northeast. Further west, Noise Park in Idaho and Eugene MX in Oregon are also joining the lineup. Bowers MX will also offer west Texas riders a track closer to home, while Kentucky's Echo Valley and Hawaii's Maui Motocross are excited to welcome Loretta Lynn MX riders for their first Area Qualifier.
After hosting several successful Area Qualifiers, Horn Rapids Motorsports Complex will be home to the Northwest Youth and Amateur Regional Championship. Perhaps the biggest announcement comes with the addition of WW Motocross Park in Jacksonville, Florida who will host the Southeast Amateur Regional Championship after a successful MXGP event this past fall.
